This is a gorgeous book that im happy FINALLY exists but not happy with the designs :/. I mean am gonna love the hell out of this but really so much awesome artwork to pick a boot...
J.H. Williams 3 was finishing up Promethea with Alan Moore during this time too. Between those two books, it was mind-blowing how he kept the high quality art of both as " must buys " during this time ( with Promethea just inching out in my opinion ). Amy Reeder and Trevor McCarthy did an awesome job filling in and maintaining the high standard of artwork this series set from the beginning. It may arguably be one of the best rotation of artists on a series since Neil Gaiman's Sandman ( which J.H. Williams 3 also did some gorgeous work ). As for Greg Rucka and Marc Andrayko, they fleshed out and delivered some of the best character work that DC hasn't done in a long while ( And yes I'm still waiting for Kate Spencer Manhunter to get the oversized or omni treatment it deserves ). In all, I'm very looking forward to displaying this book on my book shelf very soon. Sorry for being long-winded about this amazing series...
I preferred the preview cover but can't really complain, so glad this book made it through solicitation limbo. The Detective run is so damn good. I still hope Rucka makes his way back to Kate Kane one day.
Was watching some old upcoming books on your channel from 2019 and it made me laugh seeing this book on there lol. But hey glad it finally came out after being delayed so much rather than being cancelled forever! :)
I’m really excited for this book. I like Kate Kane. I’d like to see her take more of a central stage among the general audience someday. I’m also cool with that cover. It looks very dynamic and action packed.
And it be cool for James Gunn to reflect all that in his DCU. He can do Batwoman (Kate Kane alone) justice including letting her part of the Batfamily.
Great overview Omar. Finally coming out. And please do a DC Omnibus reading order of leading up to the New 52, the New 52 and Rebirth. Lots of character omnis but don’t know the order to read them all in.
Due for me tomorrow, can’t wait I’ve read the first hardcover it was fantastic. Cover is a stinker alright, considering how beautiful the interior art is and so many great single issue covers!
FINALLY!!! Would've loved to get this one cheaper since it was originally listed for 75 dollars. Oh well, I guess. Why haven't Greg Rucka's Wonder Woman and Punisher runs been collected yet??? Should've already happened.

I'm OK with the cover, ut do belive that they could had used something different, but at the end of the day, the book is now here. Thanks for the review. Just got to find the time
I managed to buy it in a store from the shelf one week before it's release date, maybe they didn't realise that it wasn't supposed to be on shelf until 12 October, but lucky for me 🤭😁
I know why they left the book but had no idea #25 was done. They should have included kinda Empyre style or like the John Byrne Galactus story on the FF Omni. Really that is a shame to just leave unappreaciated.
I hope we get a collection that involves some of the miscellaneous stuff like; Tynion’s DC run, the Rebirth Batwoman book and the Gotham City Monsters book. Cause I would love to get all the Kate Kane appearances in two or three books. Makes the rereads so much easier.
I got this originally and where I read it first is in digital trades on my Barnes and noble Nook and really loved it. I ordered the book in September and waiting for my omnibus too show up.
Need to get the Batwoman Omnibus !!! Sadly only have the 1st Batwoman Trade Paperback Pre New 52 by Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams I'm a huge fan of the character and while the Batwoman tv series from The CW was hit and miss I'm a huge fan of the character of Batwoman / Kate Kane.
I love Kate Kane too. I love Kate Kane as my favorite hero's cousin. I hate CW's Arrowverse for destroying Kate Kane just because Ruby Rose left the building. And since James Gunn said he will include the Bat-family in his DCU, I hope Batwoman (Kate Kane alone this time) will be included in the DCU Batfamily where she and the other batfamily members can be done justice together at the same time.
Also absolutely luv Batwoman! So much so I have the Sideshow PF and the art print in my collection too! I have Elegy and the first 4 New 52 collected issues #1 - #24 in hardcover so I dunno if I really need this other than as an object d'art. And Williams has many tributes in his artwork to my fave ever Goth band and looks like one of his,Fields of the Nephilim which is represented here too,on the t-shirt of that bad guy at the bottom of the page where you/Omar is commenting on the art/lips of Batwoman!
This comic can be very helpful in bringing Kate Kane aka Batwoman to life in James Gunn's DCU where the character can be in the right hands. I hate CW's Errorverse for not doing Kate Kane justice including destroying her and replacing her with a rat infested imposter. And would Mackenzie Davis or Wallis Day be a good cast for James Gunn's DCU Batwoman (Kate Kane alone this time)?
In your opinion Omar, what was a better book return of batgirl Omni or this one, I’m torn in which one to get! Thanks for your time and amazing reviews
Trying to decide. I have the deluxe. Which I love. And I know I like the three issues Rucka and Jock did, though the rest of the content is a blind buy. Probably would have been more interested if DC had let Williams finish his arc. Not like DC have done anything nite worthy with the characters love life since
Hey Omar, interesting looking Omni. Might be worth investigating as something different. I have Batwoman "Elegy" in the DC GN series I collect. I should get around to reading it but have had a few things happening lately. Another house move is pending. 🙄😳Take care mate
Hey Omar, any news on the Hellions collected edition by Zeb Wells?Which collects issues #5&6?those issues are more important for hellions than x of swords, its really annoying that currently they are not collected with hellions tpb
Hi Omar, I got mine a few days ago, do I need to buy trades vol 5, and 6 to finish this run? I wish they could’ve put those in here too to finish the run. Wouldn’t a second omni be tiny?
So the only DC stuff I collect has specific names on it so far - Jack Kirby, Alan Moore, Walter Simonson... But the art of JH Williams might be enough to get me to try this one. I seriously might buy a damn omnibus edition on the basis of the art alone 😆 wow!
I am so with you on all that. James Gunn said he will introduce the Bat-family in his DCU. That has to even mean he will include Batwoman (Kate Kane ALONE THIS TIME) in his DCU where she and the other batfamily members can be done justice together at the same time. And I hope that Mackenzie Davis or Wallis Day will play the character this time.
Finally!!! So glad this omni was done. I have to agree, I am not a fan of the cover art. The focus is the boot tread, not her. There is an abundance of cool art they could have used. Now all we needed are some catwoman omnis.
Yeah… DC why??? Out of all the beautiful covers by Williams during the series run, why did you go with this one? Good thing the contents inside are so fantastic. Custom dust jacket, anyone?? Thanks for the preview Omar, the artwork is gorgeous. But that cover…I’m very disappointed.
They're different mantles used by different characters. Barbara Gordon was/is the "main" Batgirl most of the time, though Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown also frequently use the Batgirl mantle, and now about to have their own ongoing series called "Batgirls". Batwoman on the other hand is Kate Kane, Bruce Wayne's cousin (non of the Batgirls are blood related to Bruce). She's a bit of a newer character, only made her debut in 2006, while Barbara Gordon is an older character, she debuted in the 60s.
@@TheUnstoppableBar knew they were different wonder how they came about. Forgot Kane is a Wayne. Came out of no where. Plus the bright red hair.. Use to get Cain and Kane mixed up. Very helpful. Thank you
@@francoisdemorcy5084 there used to be a Batwoman character decades ago who was very different from the current Batwoman. She wasn't Bruce's cousin, she was actually created to be his lover. Then in the mid 2000s DC decided they want to deversify their universe, so they came up with the idea of a new bat family member who is a lesbian and Jewish. And so that's how Kate Kane came to be.
