@@Iam123-i5j I think the next 2 DCs Finest Superman TPBs are 70s material. (Kryptonite Nevermore and DC Comics Presents) Not omnis, but at least it's something

I nearly passed on this years ago. The reading was a little dense for me at first. Roger Stern wrote character driven stories that made you see Superman as a real person in Metropolis
Good story. I just hate there’s such a big gap between this and the triangle years Omni
i don’t buy omnis, but i always watch these videos because of the history you put into the overview. you know how to tease without spoiling, how to get people excited.

My copy of this omni is on its way to me. And yes, I would like more Superman omnis before and during the Triangle Era.
Whenever you compare an older version of an omni with a newer one, the eye on the older one seems to be bigger, at least in the comparisons I've seen. So I think eyes do tend to get bigger with time after multiple readings.
And please keep doing these overviews! I like to watch them even about books I've already bought or already read.

This was a fun omnibus. One of the favorites of my collection.
Will Payton may not be your Starman but I really enjoyed his series by Roger Stern and Tom Lyle (RIP). Hopefully it gets a DC Finest edition at some point. And no Omar, you're not alone. I would love an omni to bridge the gap between Exile and Triangle v1. Also would love the Byrne era to get a proper omni!

It's funny, but not surprising that we're working backwards on the Superman releases here xD! Starting with Death & Return, Triangle, and now Exile!I'm thinking next year we'll get the long-awaited, badly requested, Man of Steel Omnibus!!!
It is very frustrating that the man of steel volume 4 by John Burne is impossible to find. I'm in Australia and there are copies in rhe us for sale but the minimum I can find it for is $300 aud then there is shipping I've never owned it or read it and it would be nice if they repri.ted it so I can fill om the reading order 😢 annoying plus
What’s your favorite Superman run of all time and what are your thoughts on the newer runs?
My favorite is Tomasi/Gleason era, there’s a certain warmth and comfort to that run, plus killer artwork. Close second are the early Triangle years (early 90s).
The current run is very reminiscent of those years, and the Superman family is the biggest it’s ever been. The new Warworld saga was excellent

Really hope these, and the triangle omnibus, eventually get comixology releases, even if they have to do it in smaller chunks like they did the Golden Age omnis. I don't have high hopes since those weren't finishd.
I have the original printing and it's one of my favorites in my collection. Just great story after great story in one book. Hopefully DC announces the gap filler to go between this and Triangle Era Volume 1 sooner rather than later.
The omnibus actually contains Superman issues 23 to 37. The solications for the first printing were incorrect (listing issues 23 to 27) among it's contents. Having just checked Amazon Uk, I see the listing hasn't be corrected.I have the first printing
This reminds me. I still need to pick up Death and Return either in omni or when DC Finest gets around to it. My old old trade literally fell apart.😅
How long will it take for DC Finest to get to this and the Triangle Era?
Probably quite a while since the line is brand new.
are there any collections/hardcovers after the Death & Return, I think it's the mullet era? I'm new at comics, I just started reading and collecting Superman, currently in the Byrne era and I'm laying the path forward. I've found collections from Byrne up to D&R but then no more, just single comics.
No, only old trades. Check out his reading order if you don't want to wait until DC continues with post-Death/Return Triangle Era omnibi.

Oh man that old printing has so much better build in terms of gutter loss. But I missed that train. I'll still be glad with this new book.

If I have the triangle era can I read it first before all this past material? It's lazy that DC didn't start at the beginning with a solid John Byrne Omnibus instead of regular HC's.

Iirc, Superman chooses to go to War World in the PKJ story along with the Authority to liberate some a Kryptonian cousin race group of slaves.

your guess is as good as anyone else’s. i like omnis as much as the next person, but i have to say i really like the man of steel hc’s, even at standard size. Theyre very well produced. 1-3 are pretty accessible, but vol 4 is very oop and quite expensive.
