The book is certainly awesome, but unless I can find a copy with at least a 65% off discount I'll happily stick to my two TPB's. Sooner or later they'll think about charging over $175 for these hardcovers and my desire to get any will be completely minimal. Or none at all.

@@PharaohDom Even without the backup stories or WW3 they are still missing the amazing commentaries after every issue from Rucka, Waid, Johns, Giffen, Didio, etc that were included in the original 4 volume tpbs.
I was waiting for this. On one hand I don’t want to support an omnibus priced at $175 because I don’t want it to become common place. It almost needs to fail. On the other hand I still want it and I never pay full price.
How much do you think an omnibus should cost? This contains 52 issues that would probably each Cost $5 now with inflation. These are also oversized. I would rather this be two separate $100 books so they don't have to use so much glue in the binding and the books have less gutter loss. Also, this book was $150 in 2012. Inflation alone should make it $193.50 today.

I’m a little confused with the weeks. I have the 2022 edition of Rise and Fall of a Empire, some of the stories and weeks/days are jumbled up. For example, the first Black Adam story in the TPB is week 1 day 1 whereas the story in the omnibus doesn’t take place in week 1 day 1.
I've got 52 in the pair of OHCs from Eaglemoss that were subscriber exclusives, £1 extra per regular book with an OHC sent out every 20 books so a grand total of £40 on the pair. They do include the Secret Origin/History of the DCU pages, no WWIII or notable other extras. While I'm not happy about Eaglemoss going under, DC and Batman sets of books left uncompleted and Arkham Unhinged in particular with only the first half collected, money probably lost on the next few months worth of releases that were prepaid before the "production delays" put the books on hiatus most of this year, we did get some cool stuff. There have been various titles that have been OOP in the DC editions for some time and some unique formats like the 52 OHCs or the Gotham Central slipcase set.
You notice that the pages on the first printing tend to bend forward/are coming loose from the upper part of the spine. Most omni's have that due to the weight of the pages, not just bad binding. You don't have that much with thinner hardcover books. I counter that by using stacks of comicbook backboards under the pages. 4 or 5 backboards stacked and cut to match the width of the omni..
This can also be fixed by just not having 1500 page omnis. They left out the WW3 companion series because the book was already too big. This should have been two 800 page omnis. I realize two volumes would cost more than one big volume. I don't care. I would rather spend more on higher quality books.
Can’t tell whether you think the color difference matters, because you said it’s “not that big of a deal” but also that “it’s a big difference” multiple times, as well as showing like a dozen comparisons and using a tone of voice that clearly says “this matters to me a LOT”.
Well here is my question (aha) do you think the Renee story stands on it’s own AND if DC, as unlikely as they are to, ever did a The Question by Rucka Omnibus would include those parts of the story? The downside of fully sewn bindings is that they require thicker paper and can't really get any bigger than about 1200 pages. Some of these thicker omnis would need to be 2 volumes each.

Thanks for this Omar. I had the thick trades and got rid of them to get the omnibus cheap, but the spine broke just from being on the shelf before I had a chance to read it! Glad to see this one looks to have better binding.
I just wanted to ask for anyone that knows did DC call it the new 52 because that was the 52nd reboot of the universe and also what is prime Earth called like how marvel has 616 what is the main Earth of the DC timeline? Thanks
Great overview as always Omar , I missed out getting the 52 Omnibus the 1st time around and do plan to get it next month in September. This is the book is where Batwoman Kate Kane was introduced. Keep up the great work Omar with your reviews !!!
I got back into DC stories a little bit after the new 52 started so i have never read infinite crisis, might get this if infinite crisis is not a necessary read. Seems really interesting
Hi, I want to ask for help with the reading order of the flash. I know that you have done a video but can you do a new one with the stories that continues in present, if you want, thank you 🙏
I was concerned when I saw the colour difference on your new printing, but when I received mine today, it was very much in line with the original colouring. I noticed lately after having multiple copies of the Alan Moore Swamp Thing Absolutes next to each other, due to damaged copies that needed replacement, that the colours can vary wildly between copies. Some are pushing much harder towards yellow and others are more accurate in colour. Thank you as always for the awesome overview. :)
According to the post-"Dark Nights: Death Metal" canon, everything is now canon. Within the current publishing line, everything post-"Crisis on Infinite Earths" canon is still canon for that timeline.
Great & appreciated content as always! Have you ever done any videos dedicated to the “best corrected and expanded new collected edition printings”? Would be a cool Top 20 current already available necessary upgraded editions, as well as maybe a Top 20 most needed upgraded editions… Like the original Captain Britain compared to the new Captain Britain Omnibus.
I think I figured out why they didn't include WW3. Firstly, it was an editorial thing and the four writers had no real involvement in. The four writers didn't really want it to happen but higher ups said deal with it. Now with a whole new set of higher ups, they figure it can be read as close as the four intended it to be read. Secondly, royalties. The royalties were probably a pain in the butt and offset the extra cost of including it. That being said, a happy medium would have been a brief recap page of WW3 and that should have been included. Nice overview Omar and answered all the questions I had about replacing my 1st print omni.
I didn't like it, I quit reading it midway. It felt like a reality show to me, "here, look what this guy is doing (ok, that didn't go anywhere)... and now this guy!! (ok...)... and this guy... (was there a point to that??) and this guy.. (ok, I'm out)...". There is no story, even the letters they authors wrote say they didn't know were there were going with it. I never got to the end and never will.
This will likely be 50% off on IST for the first week so it will actually be cheaper than a $150 Marvel book on 38% discount. Algorithm comment. Great to relax in the heat and watch a bit of Near Mint Condition.🙂
Awesome. Been waiting for the overview.
175...wtf come on. Dc lost it
I just wanted to ask for anyone that knows did DC call it the new 52 because that was the 52nd reboot of the universe and also what is prime Earth called like how marvel has 616 what is the main Earth of the DC timeline? Thanks
Great overview as always Omar , I missed out getting the 52 Omnibus the 1st time around and do plan to get it next month in September. This is the book is where Batwoman Kate Kane was introduced. Keep up the great work Omar with your reviews !!!
I am not buying this omnibus out of principle because of the outrageous price. I hope no one encourages DC to follow this path.
I got back into DC stories a little bit after the new 52 started so i have never read infinite crisis, might get this if infinite crisis is not a necessary read. Seems really interesting
thank you lord omar
I have been thinking about picking this up but didn’t know much about it, I’ve heard great things so hopefully this video sells me on it
One of my favorite omnibus I own. Only real flaw it has is the omission of World War 3.
I am a big fan of DC during this time period from before Infinite crisis to final crisis.
Hi, I want to ask for help with the reading order of the flash. I know that you have done a video but can you do a new one with the stories that continues in present, if you want, thank you 🙏
this was really fun
I heard that Marvel MCU Going to Have Wolverine Movie, Who do think will be Wolverine/ Logan after Hugh Jackman.
I wasn't going to pick this up, I own all of the single issues, but you're really making me want to grab it this week.
I'm definitely interested in this book!
A bit confused, I was told this was a collection of the first issues of each of the New 52 series.. But its an actual complete story?
This is something completely different. That omnibus is the new 52. I know it gets confusing
@@NearMintCondition omg i just got it... glad you replied quick! I was literally looking for a New 52 book again lol
I cant wait to buy it and add it to my collection.... and eventually read it of course :P Thx Omar :)
I'll definitely be checking this book 📚 out.....
I know that Master Reading Order exists. But could you do like a reading Order of the New Earth DC? Like Post-Crisis stuff?
Great & appreciated content as always! Have you ever done any videos dedicated to the “best corrected and expanded new collected edition printings”? Would be a cool Top 20 current already available necessary upgraded editions, as well as maybe a Top 20 most needed upgraded editions… Like the original Captain Britain compared to the new Captain Britain Omnibus.
DC peaked here
The 52 was awesome. No JLA needed. Everyone hates on the countdown I haven't read it is it worth the time???
Hey Omar I like comic books and I like your collection
Thank you so much!
How are you doing
It took me a long time to get in supe comics and something that I just recently realized, I don't care for crossover events; anyway great video.👍🏾🤘🏾
muito bom , abraço do Brasil
I think I figured out why they didn't include WW3. Firstly, it was an editorial thing and the four writers had no real involvement in. The four writers didn't really want it to happen but higher ups said deal with it. Now with a whole new set of higher ups, they figure it can be read as close as the four intended it to be read. Secondly, royalties. The royalties were probably a pain in the butt and offset the extra cost of including it. That being said, a happy medium would have been a brief recap page of WW3 and that should have been included. Nice overview Omar and answered all the questions I had about replacing my 1st print omni.
52 is such a great story.
I prefer DC raising the price compared to Marvel's choice of using their ridiculously thin pages that bleed through.
Hopefully people concerned about price don’t get fomo once it sells out and resellers ask for 2x+ the price…
My poor wallet
I didn't like it, I quit reading it midway. It felt like a reality show to me, "here, look what this guy is doing (ok, that didn't go anywhere)... and now this guy!! (ok...)... and this guy... (was there a point to that??) and this guy.. (ok, I'm out)...". There is no story, even the letters they authors wrote say they didn't know were there were going with it. I never got to the end and never will.
wow thats the total opposite of how i feel about it.
This will likely be 50% off on IST for the first week so it will actually be cheaper than a $150 Marvel book on 38% discount.
In fact if we're talking about price to page count value, this is better value than the following recent books and will have better paper stock too.
52 Omnibus - $0.144 per page
Uncanny X-Men Omnibus Vol. 4 - $0.147
X-Men By Chris Claremont & Jim Lee Omnibus Vol. 2 - $0.15
Captain America: The Death Of Captain America Omnibus - $0.162
Daredevil By Brubaker & Lark Omnibus Vol. 1 - $0.164
Spider-Man By Mcfarlane Omnibus - $0.17
X-Men by Chris Claremont & Jim Lee Omnibus Vol. 1 - $0.173
Tony Stark: Iron Man by Dan Slott Omnibus - $0.173
Inferno by Jonathan Hickman OHC - $0.178
X-Men: Hellfire Gala OHC - $0.187
Marvel Cosmic Universe By Cates Omnibus - $0.189
Young Avengers by Kieron Gillen & Jamie McKelvie Omnibus - $0.208
The X Lives & Deaths Of Wolverine OHC - $0.247
lol it is easier to give a bigger discount when IST and the Lunar distribution have the same owner. Interesting breakdown though.
