A Very Patient Hawk

A juvenile Red-shouldered Hawk spent hours in my yard the other day. Its patience was remarkable but I didn't see it catch anything. Also starring cardinals, finches, a squirrel and some surprise visitors. Seriously, there must have been a neon sign over my yard saying "Party Here Today." The range of birds and other wildlife was impressive!

How cool! I had a Northern Shrike on patrol a couple of years ago...he spent a couple of days, and got the little mole I was feeding outside!

That was a pretty awesome day in the yard! Cool to have the hawk hanging out so much. The smaller birds here don’t worry much about the red-tails either. Can’t say about the deer, have never had one! 😂
