This was GOOD to find!! Three days ago one baby robin fell out of the nest, my adult son said the bird had been hopping across the grass, way to the other side of the yard. We spent a lot of energy telling my grandson he couldn’t touch it. Both parents spent time over there trying to encourage baby-Jackie (my name for the baby). I just tried to not think about it too much.
Today my son came in and said Jackie is still on the other side of the yard, parents feeding and attending to him!! He thinks all 3 may be over in the overgrown bit of yard, in and out of the brush-I’m so happy! We’ve had a few days without the 101-104° heat we were forecast to have, so they had a field day yesterday with the worms from a fairly good downpour.

For the people in the comments being judged for having feelings: It's ok to have compassion for the babies. It's ok to have compassion for the hawk. It's ok to understand it's natural and part of the circle of life and death
Its ok to respond with compassion. It's ok to respond with curiosity. It's ok to be neutral.
It's OK to feel things about this because you are human, and humans are part of this circle of life. It affects all of us. This video reminds us of that fact.

      Imagine that as humans.
Man and woman had four children, one of those was a stillbirth. One day they left the house unattended and a kidnapper killed two of the three remaining kids. The last child never entered the house again and the parents fed him while he was living in the garden.
What a great family story that is!

The clip that OP posted that was just of the hawk stealing the chicks had like over 1,000 dislikes. Let me tell you a story of what happened on my 14th day of birth. I was waiting for my patents to come bring me and my siblings some food. Then I saw a shadow of a bird so I opened my mouth and looked up. My siblings did aswell until I saw those bright red eyes he looked down into my soul and I realized that It would be the end. Until I felt my siblings brush all over me. I closed my eyes for a second and looked back and I saw my siblings being taken from me. I felt a sudden rage flow through me as I saw them get taken away from me. I told my self I would not rest until I got my revenge. In fact I was in the middle so my chances of getting taken were very high... I was lucky, Real lucky. So I got out of my nest in case he came back for me and hid inside a tree, Thinking of a plan to get back to the hawk. I saw my parents they came to get me food and I told them the bad news. They were very upset to know that they got taken and flew off. All I remember of the Hawk is those blood red eyes and that white fur. After that I said its hunt or hunted...

I wanna know where the parents were when the hawk snatched the 2 chicks out of the nest. Were they both nearby looking for food when the horrible incident took place? It's interesting that the father was nearby after the remaining chick jumped from the nest.

Some species will fight, depending on the size difference, but oftentimes survival of the parents is prioritized over survival of the children. Parents can still try again next year, but if the parents are hurt then even the surviving children might die.
