  • ROSIE tells the story of a mother trying to protect her family after their landlord sells their rented home and they become homeless. Over 36 hours, Rosie and her partner John Paul strive to find somewhere to stay while shielding their young family from the reality of the situation around them. ROSIE examines how even in times of crises; the love and strength of a family can endure.
Paddy Breathnach (I Went Down, Viva) directs ROSIE, a film that explores the quietly apocalyptic ramifications of Ireland’s housing crisis, from a screenplay by Roddy Doyle (The Commitments, The Snapper) and starring Sarah Greene (Penny Dreadful, Rebellion, Black 47) in the title role, alongside Moe Dunford (Vikings, Handsome Devil) as her partner John Paul.

I rented a house to a family that qualified for housing assistance/allowances. I never saw a penny of the allowance, the family kept it all. After they moved in they never paid rent. Neither did they provide the deposit they had promised. They made life hell for the neighbours who had to call the guards (police) several times. Eventually they left after 4 months when they had wrecked the house and it cost me €14,000 to make it habitable again. Once bitten twice shy. I'll never rent again to housing assistance tenants.

@@keivefy No, I just happen to know that the housing assistance money, goes straight to the landlord, not the tenant. So, you are talking straight out of your ass.

@@barky87 Well you don't know an awful lot then. The following link from the dept of welfare website shows that the allowance can be paid direct to the tenant. In fact it clearly states that there is no direct relationship between Dept of Welfare and Landlord.

I'm sorry that happened to you but please don't tar people with the same stick. And unfortunately it does happen to landlords.
