Kornel Mundruczo’s newest film is a story of the indignities visited upon animals by their supposed “human superiors,” but it’s also an brutal, beautiful metaphor for the political and cultural tensions sweeping contemporary Europe. When young Lili is forced to give up her beloved dog Hagen, because it's mixed-breed heritage is deemed 'unfit' by The State, she and the dog begin a dangerous journey back towards each other. At the same time, all the unwanted, unloved and so-called 'unfit' dogs rise up under a new leader, Hagen, the one-time housepet who has learned all too well from his 'Masters' in his journey through the streets and animal control centers how to bite the hands that beats him …

Fun fact! All of the 250 homeless dogs trained and used in the film found loving forever homes after filming thanks to the producers campaign for homeless pets.

The movie is very dark and heart breaking. It's disgusting to know what some people do to animals in a daily basics. Very eye opening, touching and deep movie. The dogs who play as "Hagen" did a fenomenal job.

The directing and canine coordination in this film is phenomenal and deserves to be studied. This trailer is also a banger, can't lose with White God.

Awesome movie, just what I like. A ridiculous premise taking to the extreme, but it turned out to be more than that, not ridiculous at all. One of my favorites already.

Hagen was brilliant. it's my all time favorite "dog" movie.

Saw this movie when it came out. I used to go to the movies 2 or 3 times a week. Seeing dozens of movies one after the other.
This is one of the few that stands out.
That scene of the dog running on the highway. Lets just say in the context of the movie it hits like a ton of bricks.

I saw the trailer for this when it first came out and I knew that, as much as I wanted to see it, it would tear my heart out...I lost my last two companions last year, 2021, six months apart from each other... I will adopt another, maybe two more, if I can, as soon as I am resettled... I am ready to attempt a viewing now, though it will still break my heart ( I barely made it through Hatchi: A Dog's Tale)... I am so very happy to see so much support for this film and all the comments from the animal lovers...

Great movie.. many people don't understand why is ending pure fiction something that is impossible to happen. Exactly this was the revenge that abused dogs and other animals never have..even if is not real...I was personally enjoying it

This is one of the most kick-ass films I've ever seen. Period. It really kicks you in your gut, your head and heart. I wish more U.S. films were like this.
I read the comments below and yes, it really is almost a canine version of "Planet of the Apes", but when you consider that they shot this without any CGI it's also pretty freakin' amazing.

Not a fan of the trailer. Makes the movie seem like it's just one big uprising of dogs terrorizing people but that's actually a pretty small portion of it. Amazing movie though and the ending is perfect.

There _are_ leash laws for dogs. At least in my area. Also I think cats would be unhappy with a leash. :3 But I have seen it done.
