Very glad to see atleast some answers on the face rig stuff. I've been dying to know more about how you're handling the faces, since most tutorials don't really talk about cartoon faces at all.
That’s why I think free RUclips tutorials just isn’t it, very few content creators teach most don’t they tell you and then everyone gets stuck. Sure it’s problem solving trying to figure out what went wrong but when you’re a beginner, nah.. I signed up for CGFast track, wasn’t expensive and it’s all structured out great, take notes reference back, watch videos numerous times, discord is friendly. Free content is good but not the only option for people.
I just bought the Shader yesterday and I'm enjoying it a lot with this tutorial. I'm looking much forward for the facial rig tutorial, is the one im most needing right now, i'm super excided.
Honestly the way you teach is so amazing even to beginners like me I was able to catch up, God bless you and your entire team I am from Kenya, I wish I had a way to support you guys on patreon but at the moment am unemployed all I can do is share your work.. Much respect and love
Excellent. I acquired the shader a few weeks ago and had been experimenting, but this video cleared up several doubts. Please keep making these types of videos so we learn new techniques and tricks. Thanks!
This tutorial is simply amazing. You don't even need to go for this kind of style, all the cool features i've learned in here are better explained than most beginner guides.
By the way! You don't have to edit the geometry to change the outline thickness created using the inverted hull method! What you really want to do is do a weight paint and apply that new vertex group to the solidify modifier, then reverse the influence.
I love this shader and I am happy with my purchase of it as it will be extremely helpful for getting stylized characters and objects off the ground in a flexible and efficient way. That being said however, the restriction the shader puts on you with how it interacts and relies on the light sources is.. limiting. Again, the shader is absolutely fantastic, and the work you put into it really shows, but sometimes there's no "one size fits all" for an entire scene. However I realize it's likely just an unfortunate limitation with how the entire shader is built and would require building the entire thing, that's definitely not my suggestion. This isn't deal-breaking, however, and I can't wait to see what is possible with this shader you guys have done. You've earned all the praise and I can't wait to see where you take this in the future!
Thank you Jack! Yeah, we won't disagree. Our method is more than a typical shader, it's literally a completely different workflow, which means it's difficult to mix and match with standard shaders. We wish there better ways to do it, but that's the best we could come up with to get the kind of freedom we wanted. Our friends at BNPR are doing some amazing things with their new BEER renderer which might make this kind of workflow less fiddly in the future and give more options for bigger scenes, who knows!
@@LightningBoyStudio You’re very welcome! I figured it was out of your guys’ control based on how it was built. I definitely understand! BEER does look very promising and whatever happens in the future, it’ll be exciting to see. Thanks again for this wonderful shader, it really is a miracle in the NPR world. Keep up with the great work!
Guys, you're doing an amazing job in the entire Blender community! Congratulations on the quality and thank you for the content, thank you from Brazil! Obrigado!
Wooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! I have been waiting for this THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! be on the look out for a twitter tag in the future. Great Shader!!!!
Hang on. ... Has the boolean modifier really gotten that much better??? 0____o ? That mouth rig is AMAZING! I tried doing something like that a few years ago but because of the limitations of booleans (weird artifacts, needing precisely similar vertices between cutter object and the object being cut, etc) I decided a traditional mouth rig would be better. HOLY CRAP.
Haha! We don't know if the boolean really got any better overtime, but there are definitely a couple of tips and tricks to know for the booleans to look good for this kind of rig. We're looking forward to posting the next tutorial and demonstrate all this!
that is pretty awesome, all youtube, twitter, insta, etc. accounts says "for good Character you must learn to sculpt" but not every person like sculpting (ME) and that is Amazing all Turtorials really helpful and i cant wait to see the Face Expressions Turtorial or more the Workflow behind it. as a total Blender Newbie is that the guideline i need Thank you.
Can't wait to see how you handle face rigs. I had an idea about using booleans for the face just didn't know how to execute on it for my use case. Keep up the good work!
To not have to copy the outline material you can set the material offset in the modifier to a crazy high number and add the outline material as your last material. It’s much simpler that way
Yes. Thats the one downside to that but I like to stick with black Outlines most of the time anyway. But of course that might be a bit different for everyone Edit: uuuf the scene adjustment node is genius
I love you choose blender as your tools, i love blender very much :) Very helpful skills, later can u make playlist on how to make animation scene? Modelling, texturing, riging, rendering
A video tutorial on how you handle your Boolean face rigs would be AWESOME. Since I’ve been having a similar dilemma with my models as well. It would seriously help me out with my project.
Thanks for detail explanation. I'm not modeler (just writer who occasionally dive in fo premade shader and lighting) but this is should be good tips for my modeler team mate . Thanks again!
Excellent tutorials Clear And understandable.. I am a global learner so it is always hard for me to listen to others.. but this was epic winz thanks alot
I would LOVE to see a tutorial on how you guys will be handling the cartoon look of moving wrinkles in clothes. With the lines and shading and shape changes of the cloth as it flows. Just a thought Love your guys' stuff.
it would be awesome if we could see the process of modeling the character thats cut right before 4:04, i personally have learnt how to sculpt characters but modeling a low poly character just like that i dont see it anywhere
you know what help lot more the distance having at where you have ref image at , ah also if have whole plane selected the mesh will mirror the whole thing you want the tiny box the left near the mode tabs when in edit mode . shift click
I have a noob question, what would it look like getting this character over to unity or unreal with the shaded look you just made? Would you have to re-create the shader within unity or are there any import options? Also that face rig looks amazing, can’t wait till you make the video, another question is would something like that work in a game engine as well?
This is one of the best blender channels in the whole youtube
They’re definitely one of the channels who rule NPR in Blender
Just subscribed because of this comment. I trust you.
edit: yup...worth it.

I'm no expert in Blender, but I know enough to realize what you've made is really impressive! Looking forward to learning more!

Pour vrai guys! Vous me donnez le goût de me remettre à la 3D ;) Good jobs!
This is one of the videos I'll be re-watching from time to time, thanks
To not have to copy the outline material you can set the material offset in the modifier to a crazy high number and add the outline material as your last material. It’s much simpler that way
Oooh, good tip! I guess it only works if you use the same outline color for each material though, right?
Yes. Thats the one downside to that but I like to stick with black Outlines most of the time anyway. But of course that might be a bit different for everyone
Edit: uuuf the scene adjustment node is genius
You guys put out nothing but heat! Highest tier YT blender content. Amazing video as usual!

I liked the video before watching it.
Same
I have a noob question, what would it look like getting this character over to unity or unreal with the shaded look you just made? Would you have to re-create the shader within unity or are there any import options? Also that face rig looks amazing, can’t wait till you make the video, another question is would something like that work in a game engine as well?
Yes, you would probably have to remake a similar shader in your game engine of choice.
Impressive workflow.
Thank you for the wonderful guide !
