Love the gilet! You seem to be a similar size and shape to me so it’s great to see your hauls. I had a hip and a knee replacement and really benefited from doing Aquafit classes right up until the week of the op’s. The water takes the pressure off and you can leap around the way you couldn’t on land. It helps to keep the muscles toned which speeds recovery after surgery. Hope it happens soon!

You have my sympathies for your hip pain. I had a replacement 7 years ago it was life changing. I’d struggled carrying on working in pain for years. I returned to work after the surgery and almost immediately handed in my notice and took early retirement. So it was life changing in many ways. I don’t regret any of it.
Just don’t understand why they have a issue with your weight when I had my knees done total knee replacement there was a lady in with me and she had a weight problem and sorry but she was very overweight and she had her hip done look at Eamonn Holmes he had both his hips done at the same time and he has a weight problem you look fine average size for half the country don’t let them get you down stay safe stay beautiful stay positive ❤️🙏
Hi, I think they use it to slow down the waiting list. But of course it's a vicious circle, if you can't move because of pain and are depressed, it's hardly conducive to weight loss.... so frustrating! Thank you for your lovely comment. xx
I need a knee replacement. I was very overweight. Lost 8 stone over three years. My BMI is still just over 30 and they still won't do it 😡 ! If I went private it's not a problem it seems 🤔 I'm a regular gym bunny and so healthy now but alas I'm too fat apparently lol x
I had a hip replacement about 9 years ago- best thing I did- you will feel so much better- wish I did it sooner. Make sure you go to rehab and you will be as good as new. A lot easier than a knee replacement.
Hi, yes, thanks. I had my right hip done four years ago with a fabulous outcome. I recovered so well I didn't need any physio..... they couldn't believe it. I'm hoping this one goes as well as that. Fingers crossed. Thanks for watching. xx
Oh Helen, sending hugs. Living with pain is grim. Painkillers lose their ability to do anything. Loved the gilet. Suggestion: would you consider doing a capsule wardrobe. Lots of the bits in this haul were interchangeable to create different looks. With pennies getting tighter it would be interesting. Thanks Tania x

I had a hip replacement 12 months ago at the age of 58, I couldn't walk far before , I couldn't even stand up sometimes and struggled to even turn over in bed. I couldn't walk round a supermarket for long without wondering how I was going to make it back to the car. And it was so difficult to get upstairs. I was taking so many pain killers for so long ! Now it's great. I did a 4 and a half mile walk yesterday!! I am so thankful for my new hip!

I’m an Englishwoman (soon to be 60) in the US and booked to have a knee replacement in September so I sympathise. My weight has increased through all the lockdowns and the pain in my knee - hopefully we’ll both be able to get fitter afterwards 😄. Really enjoy your channel - it’s a taste of home and I love your sense of humour.

Hopefully the waiting list isn’t too long either as that’s what made my sister decide to go private for her knee surgery. Keep trying on all the lovely clothes for us as long as you feel up to it 🥰😊

I’ve been feeling the skirt thing too Helen, love an autumn/winter look with a midi and boots! The store layout is NOT down to people ‘cleverer’ than you, they are either trying to make you look at everything (therefore you may buy more) or they don’t understand how we shop.
They probably have a young twit who doesn’t understand that M & S is mostly geared for women with traditional classic fashion and have the monetary means to keep them viable. Thank you Helen for helping me shop on line. From a 82 M & S girl!

I do hope your surgery is not too far in the future. You are very obviously in great pain and distressed about it. Living on painkillers is no fun either - makes you feel weird and out of it but if you don’t take them you can’t move. I agree with the others - the gilet is lovely on you. I also like the black top very much. The neckline and the shape are perfect for you. I like the Boucle jacket and as you said, it would be lovely with a dress - perhaps a green jersey sweater dress. I agree about the department thing at Marks. I go round in circles looking for a certain item and I get so annoyed that they aren’t all in one place. Hedge End is a good place to go though, such a large shop. All the best to you

I can't begin to imagine what the pain is like. Physically and mentally it's obviously not a good time for you. Prejudice is definitely out there. Hi Helen, first of all I’d like to say I love your chatty videos. You come across so relaxed despite the pain you are in and it’s evident you are just enjoying the interaction with others. You look great in everything you choose and have a good understanding of body shape etc. I’m a nurse currently off work with work related stress and anxiety, the whole of the NHS is a mess. The management will find any excuse to delay surgery and flip it back onto the patient in order to make their targets look good. There simply isn’t enough staff and because there isn’t enough staff more go off with stress and eventually leave. A vicious cycle. It’s such a shame that people have to pay privately to get what they deserve to have on the NHS simply because they are in so much pain. As I’m sure you are well aware an increased weight can put you in a higher risk category for complications during and after surgery but there are ways to mitigate that and everyone should be assessed on an individual basis. Not having surgery makes mobility worse and hence more weight gain blah blah. Keep doing what you do and keep your chin up. Xxx

I love all these garments and colours on you! Looking at a couple of outfits that you thought weren’t just right, may I suggest that you might observe yourself in tops that don’t have a high rounded neckline, ie ones that have a low round or v neck or buttons that can be left open. This gives you an up and down accent rather than lines across the body. Might help you understand why some things don’t look right to you and what simple thing might make a big difference Wearing a longer necklace or long scarf also has a similar effect! Someone told me this years ago!
So sorry Helen to see you in such pain . I’ve been there & I know first hand how you’re feeling. I think you’re marvellous to keep going. Hopefully you’ll have your surgery soon & like myself have a new lease of life afterwards. Oh Helen I totally empathise with what you’re going through I was crying with you 💕 I’ve had 6 hip replacements and one knee the pain before surgery is unbearable and so debilitating, I sincerely hope you don’t have to wait too long. Enjoying your vlogs and hauls I purchased the Boden dress after seeing it on you and I love it so thank you for that xx
Helen. Its not good seeing someone in pain and seeing you upset. I hope you can get your hip sorted soon. My husband had both hips replaced 12 years ago when he was 47. Although they kept saying he was too young he just wouldnt have been able to work if he hadnt had them done. Good luck with your referral xxxxx
Enjoyed this. Gilet, short jacket and tops look well on you - khaki suits you. The shorter jacket p'raps do as a layered look with long shirt and trousers of some kind. Am minded to get one of the collared ribbed jumpers, I can see how nice and soft it is... also the long sleeved t shirt... the cheaper ones misbehave in the wash and with wear. The dog tooth jacket gave me Miami Vice flashbacks with those sleeves - hee hee. Thanks Helen.
Bless you, if it’s any consolation, I know a few people who have had hip replacements and they are fine now. I wish you could see what we see. And, there’s always someone moaning about something. I love your chats and you don’t talk too long. Don’t change, this is why you have nearly 4 thousand subscribers, because you’re good at what you do. I do wish you were out of pain though. Hi Helen, I’m a new subscriber, and I’m so glad I’ve found your channel. I’m also waiting for surgery (gallbladder removal) which is also being held up because of my BMI. So frustrating as other than gallstones I’m in perfect health. You have my total sympathy.
How ridiculous, unless there is a high risk to health through the anaesthetic you should be able to have the operation. Gallstones are nasty I had my gall bladder out about 12 years ago no problem. Good luck and thanks for watching xx
Aw bless you, I can see how the pain is affecting you. Really hope they put you through rapidly. I lost weight in the last year and have needed new clothes. But not so many new clothes lol! I’ve gone a bit mad. I seem to delusionally believe I have this amazing social life! Polyester! Hate it! Somebody very NOT cleverer than you made the decision to stock it, and no doubt it’s because it’s much cheaper. Lovely haul as usual Helen, especially the gilet. Great autumn colour. Very classy. PS I went to a convent. On our last day we all rolled our sleeves up - oh the rebellion!! 🤣🤣🤣
Good show, I am going to try that - have the white in my brows and use a product that you brush the color in but it is only for the day, this will be more permanent and looks so easy - plus, I have the teeth inserts - so, just for men , it is!!!

I'm 5"2 and size 18 so always like to see the fit of the clothes you try on as I currently am unable to visit the shop in person and buy online. I loved the choice of clothes. personally I don't think I could wear a slip dress/skirt they remind me of night wear, not that my night wear is anything like that I'm more an M&S PJ girl! You looked very overcome with sadness at the end and I felt your pain. I have also struggled with weight all my life. I remember many years ago when my cousin had gallstones and they refused to operate until she had lost 3 stones. I can't see their logic when most of the population is overweight. Chin up and I pray for a good outcome. Can I say that when I am watching your videos, it feels like you are having a conversation just with me - thoroughly enjoy them. x

Hi Helen, love the gillet and both tops 😊. Sorry you’re in so much pain and hope that you manage to get it sorted. I’m an Englishwoman (soon to be 60) in the US and booked to have a knee replacement in September so I sympathise. My weight has increased through all the lockdowns and the pain in my knee - hopefully we’ll both be able to get fitter afterwards 😄.

Hi Elizabeth, my hip is fine at the moment. It's the strangest thing, but I'm still on what they call the SOS list, and if need be, I'll slot back in..... I'm just hoping it stays this way.

The store layout is NOT down to people ‘cleverer’ than you, they are either trying to make you look at everything (therefore you may buy more) or they don’t understand how we shop.
They probably have a young twit who doesn’t understand that M & S is mostly geared for women with traditional classic fashion and have the monetary means to keep them viable. Thank you Helen for helping me shop on line. From a 82 M & S girl!

Hope you get something sorted for your hip problem soon ..I know pain is awful and can get you down ,my knees and back flare up at times with osteoarthritis.

I do hope your surgery is not too far in the future. You are very obviously in great pain and distressed about it. Living on painkillers is no fun either - makes you feel weird and out of it but if you don’t take them you can’t move. I agree with the others - the gilet is lovely on you. I also like the black top very much. The neckline and the shape are perfect for you. I like the Boucle jacket and as you said, it would be lovely with a dress - perhaps a green jersey sweater dress. I agree about the department thing at Marks. I go round in circles looking for a certain item and I get so annoyed that they aren’t all in one place. Hedge End is a good place to go though, such a large shop. All the best to you

I can't begin to imagine what the pain is like. Physically and mentally it's obviously not a good time for you. Prejudice is definitely out there. When you're in pain and feeling low and frustrated with the situation you don't need the added judgement. Sending positive vibes your way x

Hi Helen, first of all I’d like to say I love your chatty videos. You come across so relaxed despite the pain you are in and it’s evident you are just enjoying the interaction with others. You look great in everything you choose and have a good understanding of body shape etc. I’m a nurse currently off work with work related stress and anxiety, the whole of the NHS is a mess. The management will find any excuse to delay surgery and flip it back onto the patient in order to make their targets look good. There simply isn’t enough staff and because there isn’t enough staff more go off with stress and eventually leave. A vicious cycle. It’s such a shame that people have to pay privately to get what they deserve to have on the NHS simply because they are in so much pain. As I’m sure you are well aware an increased weight can put you in a higher risk category for complications during and after surgery but there are ways to mitigate that and everyone should be assessed on an individual basis. Not having surgery makes mobility worse and hence more weight gain blah blah. Keep doing what you do and keep your chin up. Xxx

I love all these garments and colours on you! Looking at a couple of outfits that you thought weren’t just right, may I suggest that you might observe yourself in tops that don’t have a high rounded neckline, ie ones that have a low round or v neck or buttons that can be left open. This gives you an up and down accent rather than lines across the body. Might help you understand why some things don’t look right to you and what simple thing might make a big difference Wearing a longer necklace or long scarf also has a similar effect! Someone told me this years ago!

Oh Helen I totally empathise with what you’re going through I was crying with you 💕 I’ve had 6 hip replacements and one knee the pain before surgery is unbearable and so debilitating, I sincerely hope you don’t have to wait too long. Enjoyed this. Gilet, short jacket and tops look well on you - khaki suits you. The shorter jacket p'raps do as a layered look with long shirt and trousers of some kind. Am minded to get one of the collared ribbed jumpers, I can see how nice and soft it is... also the long sleeved t shirt... the cheaper ones misbehave in the wash and with wear. The dog tooth jacket gave me Miami Vice flashbacks with those sleeves - hee hee. Thanks Helen.

Bless you, if it’s any consolation, I know a few people who have had hip replacements and they are fine now. I wish you could see what we see. And, there’s always someone moaning about something. I love your chats and you don’t talk too long. Don’t change, this is why you have nearly 4 thousand subscribers, because you’re good at what you do. I do wish you were out of pain though. Hi Helen, I’m a new subscriber, and I’m so glad I’ve found your channel. I’m also waiting for surgery (gallbladder removal) which is also being held up because of my BMI. So frustrating as other than gallstones I’m in perfect health. You have my total sympathy.
How ridiculous, unless there is a high risk to health through the anaesthetic you should be able to have the operation. Gallstones are nasty I had my gall bladder out about 12 years ago no problem. Good luck and thanks for watching xx

Good show, I am going to try that - have the white in my brows and use a product that you brush the color in but it is only for the day, this will be more permanent and looks so easy - plus, I have the teeth inserts - so, just for men , it is!!!

I'm 5"2 and size 18 so always like to see the fit of the clothes you try on as I currently am unable to visit the shop in person and buy online. I loved the choice of clothes. personally I don't think I could wear a slip dress/skirt they remind me of night wear, not that my night wear is anything like that I'm more an M&S PJ girl! You looked very overcome with sadness at the end and I felt your pain. I have also struggled with weight all my life. I remember many years ago when my cousin had gallstones and they refused to operate until she had lost 3 stones. I can't see their logic when most of the population is overweight. Chin up and I pray for a good outcome. Can I say that when I am watching your videos, it feels like you are having a conversation just with me - thoroughly enjoy them. x
