    I feel Android Authority is missing an important point here. First of all, for Europe the price increase is significantly higher, even though the 7 already was nearly 10% more expensive than in the US. Also the 7 has seen big discounts since it's launch. You won't find a Pixel 8 her under the € 799 MSRP without a new contract, while the 7 can be had off contract for around € 450. So if you're buying new the price difference is € 350 (370 USD), not 100 USD. The same goes for upgrading. The trade in programs here are not as good as in the US. You'll likely get around € 350 for your 7, which means you'll have to pay € 450 for the upgrade. I think at 100 USD the 8 would be a nice upgrade, but at 4 to 5 times that it's just not.

      @@sethsisneros8369 yes. I've been using Google Fi since the Project Fi years and got an excellent deal pre-ordering it. I live in a hot and humid area and had problems with my 6a overheating often. Haven't had that problem at all. I haven't even felt my 8 get hot. I also had a 4a and I like that it was a little smaller and lighter than the 8, but the 8 is not that big or heavy. It's smaller than the 7, very similar size to the 6a. I'll just say that the phones haven't really changed that much in the last 5 years. Yes, they're a little better with everything, but nothing special IMO. I just wish all the screens were like the Moto Droid Turbo 2 which were absolutely indestructible. I hate that I have to use cases with all my phones and I still break the screen. I constantly drop my phone. Hell, I broke the glass on the back of my Pixel 8 the day I got it. I dropped it while putting on the phone case. Luckily, you can't see the glass on the back of the phone being cracked because it's in a case, but it's 2023 and they could definitely make drastically more durable screens. But, I guess it's like cars. They could easily make cars that last significantly longer and are significantly more durable, but then they won't sell as many cars.

      @@varuna6089 It's Great, I must say. I am a moderately heavy user; the phone gives me 6.5 hours of screen time after using Social media, Web browsing activity, and Photo/ video taking. The photo quality is superb (the video is not that great). The phone sometimes gets network issues when there is a lack of a cell phone tower, but I currently use the best phone carrier available in my country, so the problem was not a big deal (I rarely face the issue).
      Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase. Phone prices do not drop in my country like in Western countries, so buying Pixel 7 was my only logical solution. Also, I was not impressed with Pixel 8's AI features. I did not see a significant difference in Pixel 7 and 8 hardware capabilities. The smartphone RUclips reviewers will always cherry-pick the new Phones as most of them are from the USA, CANADA, Britain, Australia, etc, and they get the best discount deals, which is nonexistent in my country.
      So, in conclusion, it ends with where you are currently living. If you live in Canada or the US, I suggest you buy pixel 8, as you can purchase pixel 8 for $560 on upcoming Black Friday deals. ( If the smartphone market in your country gives the best deals, you can buy Pixel 8. If not, then you can purchase a Pixel 7 without any worries. You will not miss any key features)
      I hope this will clear up your confusion; best of luck.

      I have the Pro and I hate the size. Almost want to send it back, too big, too heavy and the pro watch only lasts 24 hours vs a timex that goes years. I would get the regular 8 and skip the Pro. Yes the telephoto is nice on the PRO but that is about it. The 8 has it beat in what matters, ease of use.

    • @Greg-qw7xl
      @Greg-qw7xl 7 месяцев назад +1

      Depends on usage. if you travel a lot a good zoom is nice to have for taking monuments, animals, buildings, etc. However, size is of the 8 pro is less ergonomic personally. The pro has other features that the 8 does not also. So it is a personal decision IMHO for 300 more. I'm getting the 8, because the Pro is is too large as an EDC phone and it still has the newest tensor chip also. Have the 6 pro and so know from experience how uncomfortable it is in my pocket.

      @@Greg-qw7xl I have the 8 pro (for the zoom) and kid has the 8 non pro. I like the optical zoom for sure but.. they could have put that in the 8 non pro if they wanted to. I do not like the size and weight of the 8 pro at all. Its not enough to make me return it but its enough to make to change phones as soon as a smaller pixel comes out with the zoom lens. A 8 non pro with the features of the Pro is what I wanted. The weight of the huge battery makes drops more damaging too.

    The screen flicker on the 8 is horrible though. You can see it every time a comparison video is made, including in this one. PWM eye strain is a real thing. Might wait for the pixel 9 and see if they 've managed to improve it from the 240 Hertz PWM. Even pixel 6 has a better display in terms of PULSE WIDTH MODULATION

      @@jamesjacobs592 I'll wait and see if they improve their displays. But if they are going to go with a 120hz PWM display, then I guess I won't be going back to Google Pixel. Which is a shame, as I do quite like everything else about them. The 6 had a rough start but now it's really smooth on android 14.

    Pixel 7 battery life is not too good but the pixel 8 battery life is better I'll say it need better battery life improvement still but you do get 7 years of software updates on the 8 only 3 years on the 7
