In this case the installer cut the rope to short so it had to be replaced. If the rope is inside the track the only way is to remove the track to feed the new rope in. This is an Automatic Pool Covers brand, other brands will be a different procedure.

Did you just add more rope? Do you cut the old rope off after you’ve fed the new rope through or are the melted ropes strong enough to hold?
