- Who knew that the Russian visa would be such a nightmare to organize...this is our experience of the visa process.
After getting back from our Expeditions we had 2 weeks before our Russia trip would start. So we booked our tour, flights and accommodation before applying.
2 weeks later, no passport and no visa...it's Monday and we fly out on Wednesday to Russia...

This will definitely go in the records book for our most insane visa experience...what's been a travel day that's thrown you off a bit?
This is a normal routine for people from less developed or developing countries. We go through this process each time we fly out to a developed country.
@@bonothegod Yep we totally understand - we have friends and families who deal with this all the time. We didn't want to take that away (hence why we mentioned it in the video) we just wanted to show that the process is still quite difficult even for passports in developed countries :)
@@flyingthenest Hey. Thanks for your reply. I appreciate the fact that you have made a video out of the whole issue. Very few channels, I know of, show us the back story of such issues. More power to you guys. Keep producing travel videos and keep showing us the world through your eyes.
I had a nightmare experience getting my Non-Imm B visa in Thailand :-/ I feel you guys!!!
My trip to North Korea threw me off.
It's not easy to get an Australian visa for Russian citizens either.
Russian government offered to sign a visa free agreement between our countries but Australian government refused it. It's all politics!
Putin Opens Up Russia’s Doors to Huge Tourist Flows With New E-Visa Single Entry Program
Good information, Australia easy give visa to USA Citizen only.
@alex voroni same like USA to prison Russian people 😒.
Dane here, no problem getting inside Australia. So guess its still cold war :P with ore or less the same hardline borders from that time
@alex voroniне мошенничай, не шпионь и все будет гуд.
For Russian people Australian visa is a nightmare as well))) I've done it twice and it was expensive and awful experience))
For work or holiday?
@@goodshipkaraboudjan Even for transit on an aeroplane! :)
Russia always does reciprocity. So, for example, almost every country in Latin America, Israel, Thailand etc don't need a visa to Russia at all. And if Russians are required to get a visa to some country, we always set the same requrements for the citizens of this particular country. So since Australia wants to know, what was the professian of my mother, how much money I have at my account etc, we also ask the same questions, and charge the same money to apply. And Australia is the most difficult country to get a visa to. So you are used to travel visa free everywhere, but people from those countries are passing though al the troubles of getting a visa to Australia. So not with us. Make it easier for us - we will make it easier for you
@alex voroni sure, np. Straight after: 1. USA releases Victor Bout and Marina Butina; 2. USA adheres to it's own capitalistic view to sacramental rights for private property and returns the diplomatic property it has stolen (properties were bought outright and owned, not rented). 3. USA regime stops blackmailing and terrorizing Russia's partners in Europe with regards to Nord Stream 2, in attempt to force sell much more expensive gas from the USA. 4. USA removes it's military bases with Aegis systems from Romania and other bases around Russia's state borders.
@alex voroni Toxic-man, stop that shit in this amazing channel
Australia sets the visa requirements high for Russians because there are lot of problems with Russians in Australia - insurance fraud, money laundering, hospital fraud, drug trafficking, and prostitution. The Russian government uses reciprocity to retaliate however, as far I know Aussies aren't the ones committing crimes in Russia.
Yeap, I'm from Argentina and my passport is more than enough to travel to Russia, and I actually wish we would have the same system as you guys... it's not fare that some countries make to go through so much trouble (YES USA I'M TALKING TO YOU LOL) and they can come in easily
Americans have needed a visa to visit Russia for years......
i am lucky i can fly to Russia without visa and can stay for 30days ..i've been to Moscow twice(last trip was Easter this year) St Petersburg once it was FANTASTIC trip Russian was AMAZINGGGGGGG
I applied for an Australian Visa a few weeks ago and they also wanted to know every country I visited the past 10 years with exact days. Just saying:D
Omg.. ridiculous
Where are you from? I got my Australian Visa After answering like 5 questions
For Philippines, the questionnaire for Australian Visa is 20 pages long and you have to upload the images of all the passport stamp that you had on ALL your passport.
In Australia Passport cost A$293 , some comments are ridiculous.
@@donr.wetter186 , bloody liar !
Usually visa requirements are the same between countries. Most likely Australia makes the same requirements for the citizens of Russia. You are great fellows that overcome all bureaucratic barriers!
I'm so glad I went during the football World Cup when you could go without a visa :P
Want to go back to Russia, awesome that you're going there!
It is great to see how much you still enjoy traveling... I love seeing the smiles on your faces... Keep up the good work....
so excited about this series! also, your music choices give me feeels and I love it
Definitely one o the most insane visa experiences. The best part is you were smiling ad excited the whole time. Staying positive is the key!
So happy that you both made it to Russia safely and we are excited to see these adventures. Could you watch out latest video as we’re starting our Peru series and we’d love to hear your thoughts as well. By the way, I think it’s absolutely incredible how many hours you traveled. We definitely feel your pain we just went through a LONG travel day experience as well.
Russia is definitely a very underrated place when it comes to traveling.....generally speaking, the Russians are very friendly and nice......it's also a very safe country.....don't believe all the lies the mainstream Western media told you about this great country
yeah, Russia is dangerous only for Russians. Not even kidding here =)
Yeah Right! Ask people who are not white and studying in Russia
@alex voroni stop posting same shit under every comment. that's just politics. that's normal, calm down
@alex voroni in the Bank This is a scam. It is not possible to give later, if at least one payment is delayed
agreed. Also underrated in terms of beauty. ive been to Moscow, SP and Kazan
literally just finished binging kara and nate's russia series, so i'm so excited for yours!
Wow!!! So glad everything came together in time!! Can’t wait to see all you get up to!:)
Visa troubles are the worst! 😭
I went through some troubles getting a UK visa recently and I vlogged it all (up on my channel) to look back and remember that everything works out in the end!
Looking forward to this series, Russia is an amazing place to visit and St Petersburg is beautiful.
Damn what a crazy unplanned trip! Super lucky it all worked out!
Jess! Can you please do a video with your travel makeup/beauty routine and go to clothes! You always look amazing
I would like that too!!! Actually I would love a video of all these great girl travelers talking about the clothes that work for them.
Молодцы ребята, удачи вам!!!!

Loved this video y'all! What an exciting start to a trip!
Thankfully in Argentina we don´t need Visa to enter Russia. So glad...
We neither ;)
Jess for traveling that long your make up looked fresh. Great job. OMG I love the potty cam right at 2 hours before Russia 🇷🇺

Love the vlog and looking forward to the rest of the series.
That is so crazy! I remember you guys telling us in Vietnam about how you needed to go home to get visas! I am so glad it worked out and I can't wait for the next series, per usual!
Aww wow what a great ending. Happy days guys🥰🥰 enjoy your next leg
Omg I know these feelings. We got screwed around in Sri Lanka of all places with Visas! Im kinda glad to know everyone goes through the same stress and frustration! 👏👏 Great video
As sad as this was it was too sweet how much Stephen looked lost without u
It’s really lovely to see how much you guys care about each other
SO excited for your Russia series!!!
was just in St Petersburg and Moscow a month ago. it's amazing, have fun.
glad you enjoyed it (from a Russian person)
Yaaay I'm so excited for this Russia series, been thinking about visiting Russia recently so this is perfect timing
@alex voroni it's chohol's (ukrainian) troll
@alex voroni blah Blah blah. Go get some sleep.
@alex voroni should we talk about US government crimes now?
I appreciate that you actually have gone for it;)
Cannot wait for this series! Yesssssssssss!
I like this video so much more out of the others because they show more of the travel, process, airplane food etc. the little things that go into traveling
If you had a South African passport, you wouldn't need a visa to Russia.
Dang what a mission to get the Visa for Russia! Having to book everything first is such a pain! Good to know! Glad you made it!
Heeey guys! Congratulations to finally arriving to Russia! I hope you had a great time there!
yay! have fun guys, we loved Russia when we where there! Also, the visa process was a PAIN. lucky, as EU passport, I got to skip listing EVERY country I've been to in the last 10 year :P lucky me.
Wow, so crazy! I’m glad you were able to get your visa in time Jess! Stephen flying all the way to Australia... whew. Super excited to watch your series. We met someone one Iceland who was from Russia and I was thinking of wanting to go there to visit one day! Lol
i’m so happy about you coming to my country !!
LOL, "what do you mean WE pulled that off!?" Honestly I love to see your all's commitment and perseverance. Seeing Stephen navigate the little details of the airport and traveling solo with Jess behind on the phone literally made me think of my husband and me in certain situations. So beautiful to see you guys doing what you can for each other, no matter what!
Try to get visa to NATO countries with Russian passport. You will see the real nightmare.😁
Didn't have any problems getting Spanish, Czech and US visas with russian passport.
I've had six Shengen visas so far, never had a problem with getting either of those.
@@poohoff
Because you don't expect that it would be given to you just with your passport and tickets.
Actually, Russia demands less documents for visa.

Amazing how close you came to not going!
We had no idea a Russian Visa cost so much. Maybe it's why there seem to be few travel vlogs about the country?
So look forward to this series!!!

Omg this is Crazy!!! Really happy for you guys!!
Awww you guys are so sweet
That good bye at the airport
I ran into your channel today, through video about Bratislava (I am from Bratislava). Your channel is so awsome, when I see all the places, it is like a dream. Keep up :).
I’m so excited for this! My friend and I are thinking of going to Russia next year as it’s a huge list country for us
Gosh, I'm so excited for you guys! I'm from Russia, not Saint-Petersburg ,though, but I've been in this city twice and i absolutely loved it! By the way, at the 9th of May you could've have seen amazing fireworks there as it's a big holiday at that day. Anyway, I hope you'll fall in love with this city and our culture))
You guys were meant to be together.. Great ending and safe travels as always.
Wow this isn't even a travel vlog but it's one of the best vlogs you guys have done I reckon
Sometimes travelling is not always smooth sailing but keeping positive always helps! Russia has been on my bucket list for years now, hoping to get there next year
You two are great storytellers! This is the first vlog of yours that I’ve seen. Awesome job!
Aw I love this video, we got to see more of your personalities :)
I am so looking forward to this Russian series. Thank you for all you do!!
Hello from Canada! My family and I were just in Sydney, had a lovely time. I cannot wait to see your Russia videos. I'm a little obsessed with Russian folktales, food, and history, so I hope you have a great time once you're there!!!
Приезжайте ко мне в Сибирь)
That is an insane process of getting your visa in time to fly to Sydney just to pick them up! Really glad it all worked out!
It is so happy to know u both get yr Visa in time... just like watching a movie with a dramatic plot. Good one
Just love those two old people at the beginning of this Vlog keep safe in Russia love you M&D xx
Should be fun trip. Was in Moscow and st Petersburg 14years ago and loved it.
Visa is really very nightmare, I did face some issue related visa. It really annoying too. thanks for sharing. thumbs up!
IVE BEEN TO RUSSIA TWICE INDEPENDENTLY AND LOVED IT. WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE
Can’t wait. Great ideas. Everyone else is doing “the same old”. Ya know what I mean. Love u guys.
Hehe love your sweater Jess! Viewer from Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦❤️☺️
I love watching all your travel videos because Stephen and Jessica are amazing couple ❤️
You are complaining in your just another day in paradise :/ Aussie passport has visa-free access to 160 countries, while my poor Bangladeshi passport has visa-free access to 47 countries :/ This is my story for almost every time I travel, and I travel 5-6 times every year.
Thankfully though, courtesy FIFA World Cup last year, I got "Fan ID" as Russian Visa, which worked as multiple entry visa till 31st December, so I visited Russia twice :)
Come visit Bangladesh some time, it will be a crazy experience, different from India too. And you will need visa to visit :p
*This is not due to FIFA, FAN Id has come up with this in the leadership of Russia, in order to simplify the departure of tourists during the championship!*
God bless U both 4 sharing!!
Молодцы, что приехали!
Russia's visa policies are strictly reciprocal. You should blame your government for your "Russian Visa Nightmare".
No, they should blame Russians in Australia. Aussies aren't committing crimes in Russia is far as I know.
I love how Jess always wears her hat at the airport!
It was so weird seeing the two of you separated, but at the same time it was interesting to see Stephen do solo travel and have him try to figure out things on his own, like checking in. One of the main reasons I started watching this channel is because it's life goals realized: traveling full time with a companion, but there's also something to be said about solo travel that forces you out of your comfort zone and to be truly independent, finding yourself without another person's input or influence. Anyway, I'm still relieved that everything worked out and that you're reunited, and I look forward to watching this new Russia series since it's another foreign country that I don't know much about and would love to learn more about. Thanks for sharing and don't forget Fun Facts with Jess! ^_^
Love u guys ❤️ been watching since 70k
Ooooh, that was a very close call. Glad you were able to go. :)
Fly to Vietnam tomorrow, thanks for the series. India was amazing. Stephen, you need to do a review of that watch. Canada hoodie is still cool AF.
It's really stressful. 😅 But you are full of motivation! 👍
I'm sorry you had to go through these troubles to get a Russian visa.. But really happy and you did make it in the end :)
It has been a long time since my trip to Moscow and Vladimir region. What I loved most was the very deep underground transportation system, in Moscow it was amazing. We even got lost, and it was fun! The street food was great, and VODKA was part of EVERY meal (well maybe not breakfast). Went before they repainted St. Basil's in Red Square. If you can get a local guide ( I know you are part of a tour) but the local people sort of freelance and give awesome tours. That is how we got inside and went to the top of St. Basil's and it truly was the most awesome thing. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, wonderful people in my experience. Be sure to go to the outside markets, and if possible out into the countryside if possible. I am so EXCITED for you both!!!
That’s gonna be great trip! We never ever had any problems with visas and I hope it won’t ever happen 😁
You’re oftenly traveling with On the go tours. Are you some kind of ambassador for them? 😊
I love flying with Qatar - they feed you quite a bit.
Have never been on a double floor airplane.
Looking forward to this series as Russia is definitely on my bucket list. And also keen to try out On the Go Tours as I haven’t really used travelled with a tour company before.
LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH HOPE I CAM MEET YOU ONE DAY HAVE A GREAT TRIP
Steve, I have the exact headphones 🎧 as you. Bose QC25. About a month ago on line I ordered and have received a BTunes bluetooth wireless device that transforms your Bose into wireless. absolutely love it. I definitely recommend you look into getting one. Love watching all your vlogs from all over the world.
Oh I am currently studying in Saint P and paper work in Russia is a whole new theme itself! 😂
U guys are so cute and the way u miss her. ❤
those head rests are also on Qantas internationals. They make sleeping while flying so much easier :)
Loved the story telling in this one guys 🤙🏼 We're still a bit confused though.... which one of you had the longer travel day?
Stephen will never let me forget this one!!
I’ve always wanted to go to Russia, can’t wait to see this series.
I had the same issue when I was getting my Brazilian visa, I got my passport back 3 days before my trip to South America...
Welcome to Russia, guys! There're definitely lots of stunning places to see in St. Petersburg and Moscow! Hope you enjoyed your visit to our country :)
You're awesome!

Also really excited to see this series on Russia!!!
So excited for Russia travel series..! :)
Watching this vlog reminded me when I went to Germany and how much I love traveling. Too bad I'm only 16.
St Petersburg was a stop on a cruise I did last year. It was free to enter the country but must book a tour. If you chose to tour the city solo you had to organise your own visa. I can't wait for this series. I would definitely like to see more of Russia!
Your backgroud music and the editing are soooo RELAXING 😍
