What is Train Travel like in Russia? | Overnight Train to Moscow in 2nd Class

- We are leaving Novgorod and catching the overnight train towards Moscow - this is what overnight train travel is like in Russia.
After presenting our passports and checking into our 4 birth cabin, we settled in for the night on our train. To be honest it was a little smaller than some trains we have caught in the past but we had a comfortable sleep anyways...besides the 5am wake up call!
After arriving in Moscow for Jess birthday she decided that she wanted to go inside a Russian bunker...so we went to the Cold War Museum aka Bunker 42 where went 68 meters below ground and learnt more about this soviet bunker.
To celebrate her birthday we went out to have dinner (and a Moscow mule) at Razvedka (Разведка).

Just be aware that not all Russian trains are that comfortable. Many of them (so-called platzkarts) don't even have the rooms, it's all exposed and you see much more people and I promise you it's not the best travel experience you can get :D
Forget comfort (they're never that comfortable), forget intimacy, greet weird smell from all the people around and the feeling like you're not travelling but being delivered like a regular shipment.

This train is better than the night train from Switzerland to the Czech Republic (which I used two months ago).
Razvedka! This is my favorite restaurant in Moscow! I didn't expect that.
Thank you for the great video!!!! I grew up travelling and trains in Russia. It’s my top favourite mode of transportation! I love the cabinets with all useful things like in the airplane but then you could walk as much as you want. The tea on the train has always been the best in special train tea holders!!!

Australians always pronounce the 'er' at ends of words as 'ah'. So Bunker because Bunkah and Clipper will become Clippah. It's something British, Australian, and New Zealand english speakers do, but Americans and Canadians always pronounce the full R.
