My angelfish goes to the top of the tank to beg for food every time he sees me. Eats the food before it has a chance to sink too. Made me chuckle when you said most don’t like to eat from the surface, I might have a defective one 😂
Absolute centrepieces, change a tanks look completely.. I have 2 different angels (different types), 1 grew up to be the tank boss, but despite maintaining a firm hand but never picks on anyone.. and I have lots of happy gouramis too who respect the peace.. the other is a total scatterbrain veiltail angelfish living completely in his own world, always scaring me asleep upside down in whatever plants he finds. Such personality.
Surprisingly, Angels also get along very well with Blood Parrots, I’ve kept them together for years with no issues whatsoever. Both species go about their own business and pretty much ignore each other.
My angelfish finished off all my guppies. He stressed them out chasing them and all of them are gone except one guppy. She can't be bothered getting stressed.
This is EXACTLY what I need, I shipped 150 young guppies to a local aquarist store, but they are forever having young. I was told to buy some rainbows but they don't touch the babies.
I've right now 16 angelfish, 8 pairs of different angelfish variety ......and I don't have any issues other than some chasing some . As per my experience over 4 years of having angelfish is to feed them always live food . They are naturally hunters , the hunting of live food satisfies their instinct and they stays much calm . I really appreciate the advice of feeding them 3-4 times a day , in aquarium they're living a captive life so good is the only excitement they have . And plants , there should be some soft leave plants that angels can sometimes nip . I've water wisteria and sometimes my angels eat them . Rainbow fish and electric blue acara I've noticed are best tank mates . Although my angefishes do not nother female betta or guppies or pearl gouramis or danios but acaras do eat danios . So I don't have danios right now. And yes , either you have Angelfish or you want to have angelfish .......there is nothing in between.
I keep Angelfish with Dennison Barbs ( Roseline Sharks) Mollies and Bristlenose and they all interact perfectly. I totally agree with tank depth, mine is 20" and they love it. This tank is well into it's 2nd year and is heavily planted but because of depth there's still lots of swimming space coupled with lots of cover. Nice video, thanks for sharing.
I love my Angels! They might be super common but they're little water puppies. Mine ate all of my frogbit, once they got a taste for floating plants.. it was all downhill from there lol great video Blake! Keep up the good work!
@@BlakesAquatics I guess I should rephrase what I said. They ate the roots which ended up killing it. Didn't even think about it at the time. It would be pretty nice if they did eat duckweed though lol
Firstly love your work mate. Younare doing a great job. I've got a 4 by 2 by 2 fishtabk and had 4 angels. They fought all the time. Always had damaged fins. I separated them and bred them. And added my favourite babies to the tank when they were a suitable size. I've got 6 angels in the tank now. And the aggression has almost completely stopped. No more torn fins. I've got rummies aswell. And my tank just looks the best its ever been now. So definitely great advice!
I'm kinda I saw this My plan was to get three black superveil angels, one electric blue acara, and some congo tetra for my 85 gallon. The angels are my favorite so I'll reevaluate
In my head there is a 60 - 90 gallon cube artfully aquascaped with 7 to 9 Philippine blue angels and rare loaches. So far my finances and my living space does not match up with the picture in my head.
Thanks matw, big omes are snalehead gudgeons. I also have goyder river rainbows, clown loaches, red breasted acara and a few other bits and pieces in there
Would you be able to keep apistogrammas or rams with them since the dwarf cichlids are bottom dwellers, and if there is sufficient hiding spots and caves for the dwarf cichlids?
Mine hates bloodworms but loves white mosquito larves. one of my Blue amazon angelfish is a really slow grower. and my recently bought Albino altum is twice the size and was smaller than the other one
Are those two big sleepers in the background of your giant tank with angelfish, clownfish, and rainbow fish?! Being predators, I would’ve thought they’d be too dangerous for them. How are they able to coexist?
I have had 5 for about 4 months and it was fine now i just got a red cap male from a friend and he actually got beat up pretty bad in his tank and soon as i put him in my tank he's actually looking for the other angels and is going after them. You think its better if i get one more to spread out the aggression or just get rid of the red cap ?
i have 7 breeding pairs of angels and. 11 more near breeding size and 150 dime size .god only knows how many fry right now .the biggest problem i have is where to put all the fry . new rack needed .lol
Hmmmm I've only been keeping Angels for a year but my angel tank now (5ft 150G) is easily the most aggressive tank I have....and that includes a 10ft tank full of aggressive central americans. I started with 2 lots of 5 (from 2 different sources) in 2 different 75G tanks. I upgraded one to a new 150G which is now heavily planted, then a few months later added the other 5. Almost from that point its been constant aggression to the point I am now down to 4. There is one super aggressive one which is also paired up so he might be the culprit for some, don't know. Oddly, before I mixed them I had 2 peaceful tanks lol
@@BlakesAquatics You are right and nearly everything else I've seen would suggest this situation is an anomaly. The tank is full of site blocks including 2.5ft stem plants everywhere so that's not an issue. the 4 left have lots of room to roam though haha. One of them still chases away all the ellioti though.
Sounds like a recording of me advising customers. Not many listen. One thing I've noticed, they will graze on the new growth of hygrophila polysperma. I wonder if anyone else has seen that behavior?
i just bought 4 angles, like three days ago, and now 3 days later there all dead .. the last day they were all in a upper corner, i done a 50% water change using Spring water, not store bought spring water . i had 4 angles, 6 daino`s, 3 neon 6 black tetra`s everything is fine in my tank, PH is good 7.2 low 7.8m high, Ammon is low 0.50 i know needs to be zero it was higher, like 2 ppm before water change , Nitrate`s is low 10ppm, nitrites .50ppm/1ppm . all the other fish are all alive . but angles Died . again bought these fish three days ago .. no clue as to why ..
Sometimes i think these things happen but there's obviously a reason why. There are at times the things we can't see, for instance we can't see a water table - we can't see the transportation or how it is contained and supplied to us via our tap systems we just take it for granted. Every aquarium has specific bacterias to it aswell, check your local water authority and investigate have there been any possible water irregularities or maintenance needed due to parameter shifts. I would start a process of elimanation and i would definately try it again. Allthebest !
Blake, If we can keep them alive. I tried keeping them a few times and the water parameters were good. They died within a few days. They are kind of expensive so i gave up and changed my 55 gal to something else. I was trying with the smaller to medium sized ones. Those rainbow fish and other fish look great in that tank. Angels and Gouramis i seem to not be able to keep them alive. It sucks.
From experience tetra fish are not a good choice to have with angelfish the tetra will chase the angelfish stressing them out and will pick at the angelfish leaving them looking bad with half eat tails

Look for blue pinoy or blue sapphire

Yeah it can be done, i keep mine with red breasted acaras.
I have a breeding pair of super red apistos with my angels. They angels know not to mess with their "cave" area. It's actually kind of funny.
How do you like them with 3 male apsitos in a 75

Your water has to match the ph the angels were in,maybe tap water, also your tank isn't established yet,add 1 to 2 fish at a time
You should have 0 nitrites
