    Love your channel! It’s so informative. I rescued a young angelfish a few months ago. He’s fine in the 20 gallon right now with some golden white clouds (GORGEOUS little fish!), but I’ll be setting up a 75 this year for him with some Diamond tetras. As he grew I realized the flow was too much. He was hiding in the corner amongst the sword. After turning the flow down to a trickle he became far more active and swims all over the tank now.

    Thanks for an amazing video, Jason - This might be the best angelfish video information I’ve seen yet. Plus it was therapeutic for me - I lost my favorite (and original) angel Chuck unexpectedly over the weekend 😢 She prompted my upgrade in March “Quarantine COVID project” to a 100g 5 foot tank - Overall a really happy tank for my soft, acidic water: angels (or “fish-puppies”), black neons, cherry barbs, sterbai cories, and a couple of Bolivian rams. Everybody keeps to their own space and species for the most part (except my cherries like to school with the neons).

    LOL! I have basically gone the complete opposite of your advice other tank size. Gabrielle is in a 210, but the water movement in there is crazy with 2 canisters, 3 HOBs, 2 sponges and two wave makers. He's also sharing that space with 2 oscars, a pike, a dempsey, a texas, a jaguar, a salvini and two convicts (plus 3 cats and a pleco). I do have a backup plan but so far (over a year). Everyone leaves him alone. I did have two and one has recently passed, but Uriel didn't have any signs of violence evident, so I believe it was either stress due to one or more of the many possibilities you spoke of here or, although consistent, poor water quality (you may recall I had nitrates that were "off the chart" high). I'm probably going to move him even though I liked the idea of having "dithers" that were something other than silver dollars. Especially now, knowing he's probably less than thrilled to be in there with those bruisers and the crazy current.

    • @TheOfficialSteelReign
      @TheOfficialSteelReign 3 года назад

      @@PrimeTimeAquatics Yeah, now I wish I had bought more of them when I set up the tank since the combo of fish seems to be working. Or working for the first year anyway. To add more in now, it might throw off the balance. And of course, buying babies would be foolish since they'll (likely) just become expensive oscar/jaguar/pike food. Live and learn. Who knows, with my luck, had I bought 6 or 7, it might not have worked and I'd be in the same boat. I will never know.

I saw it eat at the LFS and has a great appetite (one of the first angels up front for food). Is there any way I can help this animal out and give it the best life possible? I fully accept this fish may not live long either. Its currently in a planted 60 breeder, tidal 110 filter is turned to minimum. I am targeting a temperature of 78-80°F. Have cories, espei rasboras, panda garras and a medium sized pearl gourami.

    I had a pair of geophagus winemelleri but my poor big girl got swim bladder and I couldn't save her. So now I have 1 male geo in a 75. He's huge. I was thinking of adding a pair of angels but I have a canister and hob filter hooked up and the flow is fairly strong. I can't keep plants because the geo digs so so much. I do have some anubias but it's been ripped off so many times it kind of just tumbles around lol. Would the angels be ok with only a few little plants?

    I have been having trouble trying to figure out why my Angelfish Fins are constantly tearing. Live in FL and water is hard about 8. A site said 122ppm. All my parameters are fine with Ph in the high range side 7.6. Being kept with a Blue Acara and 3 Small Bichirs who are all healthy. Its just the 4 Angels mostly this black one that are tearing and healing that Top Fin. 55Gallon Tank. 82F. Not sure what's going on.

      That can be common with veil tail angels. Sometimes they scrape against stuff that gives them small tears that then get larger as they swim around.

    Hey! I’m considering getting a single angelfish for my ‘centrepiece’ fish in my community tank (ember tetras, sterbai corys, a bristlenose, some nerites).
    My tank is a 40 gallon long, which I know is big enough, but is it TALL enough?? My tank is 48Lx12Wx16H, but it’s only about 13.5 inches worth of water height from gravel to top.
    I’m getting mixed answers online, I just want to make sure!

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  3 года назад +1

      That is borderline for me. I tend to like something at least as tall as a 55 gallon. I mentioned some people will breed a pair in a 29 (again a taller tank), but for long term success, especially for veil tails a tank over 20" tall is ideal.

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics

      I might hold off and see how they do together in a 55 gallon. It might work, but as they grow to full size you may find you have to remove a fish. If the convicts breed there could very well be a war in that tank. :-)

    I've read alot of varying statements on this, but how many would you suggest be a minimum number of them in a 55 community? Planning on keeping a blue acara as a centerpiece, but wanted 2 angels. I'm scared if they decide to pair or even worst are both males and end up fighting to death.

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  3 года назад

      That can be a little tricky. The problem is once you go beyond one, if they do pair they will become a little more aggressive defending their territory. If you go to four or more, you may still have an issue because you may wind up with multiple pairs. They usually do ok when smaller-younger, when breeding starts it becomes more complicated.
