I cannot recommend Obsius enough. I bought them on a whim a few months ago and have only been loving them more and more. The colors as well are crazy, I got green baseplates, and the finish they use looks absolutely beautiful I can’t describe it. The trucks are durable as hell, and the company is super transparent about flaws and fixes they’ve made. Build quality is fantastic.
the weight is the big difference. It will feel totally different, but not in a bad way. I got them specifically for the extra weight. Once you mess w/ the bushings and pivot cups and break em in, they feel awesome. Trying to get some more BRTs soon, but Obsius has my vote
Yeah Obsius is very well connected with the community. I remember being really hesitant about ordering them at first but after seeing how they took care of anyone and everyone (as far as I know) I was really confident in their trucks. I do like how when you catch and slam down a trick it makes that super satisfying "THUD". hahahaha
@@tcgene yea it’s very distinctive lol. That said, I don’t always want a heavy board, so BRTs are a good weight for my other setups. I always thought Dynamics were a little too light, but my buddy loves them.
It took 7 months to make this video. I remember watching your review you did on the Obsius fingerboard trucks. In that video, you stated that you're waiting on a package from Poland and that you will be making a video going into detail about all your trucks you've tried. I was looking forward to a good video where someone goes in great depth about the differences and personal experiences with fingerboard trucks. I myself don't like to live in and have a crazy execess of fingerboard stuff. I try to keep it to only 2 complete fingerboard setups. So, knowing what I might like before going out to make a purchase is very helpful. I'm so glad you decided to make this video, and personally, I enjoy this type content. Thank you and keep Shredding!
I'm super happy that the people who have been waiting on this vide are enjoying it. When I was editing it I was worried it came off more as me rambling on and on. If you have any questions about any kind of product just shoot me a message or leave a comment. I'll be more than happy to answer as much as I can. Thank you very much for your feedback!!
I have been using BRTs exclusively since they first came out. I quit fingerboarding in 2014 and the only professional trucks around then were BRTs and Y-trucks, so when I got back into the scene last year I was stunned to see how many different brands there are now.
Another great video by the legendary TC! So glad the camera is back in action! It’s so crazy the amount of options for trucks! I want to try those chems hex trucks!
I am LOVING the educational content! Love your vibe :) Just got into fingerboarding, and coming from Balisong flipping it's quite the transition! I've been doing a TON of binge research over the past weeks and these videos are amazing for that. Even if I already know everything in the video, I still enjoyed it
Thank you thank you thank you!! I'm sure the dexterity built up from Balisong will transfer over very well to fingerboarding!! A lot of it does come from the fingers but the wrist movements is also very important.
Thank you thank you thank you!! Yeah I like that when fingerboarding is on youtube you can always come back to it. unlike the others where unless you saved it or know the profile once you lose it it's almost impossible to find again.
Hahahaha that's like 90% of my set ups. it's very hard to compete with brts and level up. well the blossom baseplates make it feel a lot better actually, but I may be a little biased lol.
I’ve got an update! I was at the minimart, bought a new setup. I got dynamics. Once again the king pin screw hole was stripped. I kept the hangers and bought caramel 3.0 baseplate. I hope this gives me some luck😊
I’ve been figure boarding for almost 25 years, and nothing has felt as good as dynamics. Everything else has soggy feeling pop or is really heavy or really light or has shitty bushings or bad geometry. The weight, shape, stock, bushings, and wheelbase all make dynamics fucking amazing And I literally cannot get used to another truck even though I’ve wanted to entry. Although I admit, I haven’t tried SB trucks yet or blistered but I’ve heard so many problems with them that I’m not even going to risk it.
I meant I’ve heard a lot of problems with blistered. Plus, I hate the fact that you have to take them off the board and use a tool on the nut and then a tool underneath on the kingpin screw itself in order to make them not an inverted kingpin standard. The SB trucks I haven’t been able to get my hands on but it really want to try.
I hate black river, so fucking much. Their wheelbase is so short that on the same set up any other truck would pop, easier, feel better, and just be all around more enjoyable. Compared to my dynamics they literally shorten the wheelbase by almost 4 fucking millimeters. Plus their stock bushings and pivot cups are absolutely horrible, The base plates are very very easy to strip, super easy axle, slippage, which I’ve had on multiple sets, in fact, all of my sets, but one had axel slippage, and lastly, if you want to change out the pivot cups, you have to takeoff the entire fucking truck meaning you’re even more likely to strip out the base plate. And you can say well the 3.0 have a thicker base plate to compensate for that. Well they don’t have threaded holes so you’re still gonna have to dig into the metal of shitload so I don’t know.
And sorry if I’m using poor grammar or whatever and just rambling, but I’m a little drunk. Either way dude if you’ve read this, I really appreciate your video even though I wish you would’ve talked more about the longevity, the softness of the metal, stuff like the fact that in order to get a truck to be polished it Hass to be powder coated with copper first so when you see trucks like dynamics that look like they’re starting to turn copper as soon as you grind them it’s actually normal and they’ll turn back to silver really quickly. Scott’s even said this to a bunch of people multiple times. I wish you would’ve talked about their stock bushings, I wish you would’ve mentioned stuff like how the white trucks at least the X fives have almost a completely hollowed out hanger making them super light, I wish you would’ve tried to put very similar decks together, or at least compared them in a way where we could see the difference in wheelbase between different trucks. I am the pickiest person ever and all of these things are things that I want to know before I’m gonna spend 50 bucks on a pair of trucks when I could just get dynamics instead and be happy. I just want the best/easiest/most comfortable set up for me personally but either way I still really enjoy your video man
And for some reason I can’t edit any of my comments, but I forgot to mention that I’m using voice to text along with again being a little bit drunk so this all just probably sounds stupid
Absolutely agree about the black river trucks , they're just on another level. Never tried dynamics , I'm unsure if they're worth trying when I can just use some BR's and be guaranteed excellence every time
I'd say they are definitely worth trying at least once. not in a go out your way to get a hold of some but whenever they come across your path kind of thing you know?? BRT and Dynamic are still on top for me
Started a new work from home job in July 2024. Had an old Tech Deck Pro that use to be just a little desk/fidget device. Started to get a little more serious with it, as i started to learn more and more tricks, so i bought a Teak Tuning board as the next step up. I've been really really enjoying that so far. The deck itself seems fine, but i HATE the trucks and wheels. I've been looking more and more into replacing the trucks and wheels however, maybe its time to upgrade my whole set up. This video was super helpful with that. (TRUCKS) If I was Thinking of taking the next step up from my TEAK deck, but still not getting super invested, Any suggestions on the next step up would be awesome! Great vid!
My number 1 go to spot for a complete is www.faymusfb.com/. Unless you live near an fb shop. They'd definitely have different decks you can try out before you buy them so you can get the feeling of what works best for you.
Agree with you on the Blisters. I received 2 of them via CuriousBoards and returned them due to all the confusion around the option to have the kingpin however you wanted it and then I was going to need to pay/wait for a new kit. Then those kits weren't even the right kingpins. Shame cus they did look really nice though! UAG Trucks are next level. Those, BR, Obsius and Caramels are my faves.
Oh dang. Yeah that kind of experience sort of kills the whole mood for them huh?? I see the people who either got good ones or he sent out free sets for replacements the trucks were solid. I haven't used those UAG trucks in a minute but when I busted them back out I forgot how smooth the grind is.
@@tcgene You got the v2 UAGs? I love the weight to them. So chunky. :D And yeah, the blistered thing was just to confusing for me. He should have tested a small bath of products and got them right before making them available to sell imo.
Nice comparisons. the new wave of china trucks are pretty nice. I got a couple sets from leefai that don't seem to be copies of another brand and I really like them, and for 15 bucks shipped its hard to beat. also have you seem the new trucks that Chems has? they look really good. I will for sure be trying those. thats a shame about the blistered trucks, Bailey has new kingpins with them now that are perfect. definitely my favorite trucks right now. You should give them another go now.
I heard really good things about those Leefai trucks. I haven't gotten around to those Hex trucks but I hear really REALLY good things about them. I'm sure I'll try out the blistered trucks at some point but idk when.
Too be honest I got dynamics and had terrible luck with the quality, the axle won’t sit in place and the king pin came stripped. I might go with eureka trucks if you recommend
I got replicas of kraken trucks and they are so good and they look the exact same also they have no issues and I have had them for almost 1 year I found it in eBay for 25 bucks😅
@@tcgene all g. I just saw someone else had issues w/ them as well this week. The store I bought them from is letting me swap them out for some silver ones.
I haven’t had the chance to try blossom baseplates yet but 90% of my set ups are running Dynamic bases with BRT hangers. Would you say the experience w/Blossom based feels pretty identical? Actually, a better question, is wheelbase the same when comparing both?? Sick video though, man. You answered several things I’ve been wondering about other brands.
Thank you thank you thank you!! I was hoping i'd be able to answer some questions. I would say you'd get the same type of feel. the clearance of the kingpin is suuuper high so even if you tweak your pinched grinds like crazy you still wont come close to snagging that kingpin. when the brt hangers are on the Blossom baseplates they sit almost straight. I think it shortens the wheel base but a very negligible amount.
@@tcgene of course!! Good to know, I had a feeling that might be the case but if it’s like half a mm, like you said, that would be a fairly negligible amount. I am kind of surprised to hear you’re just done with Blistered due to the troubles. I held off on ordering them and then the issues presented themselves so I’m still happy I never bit the bullet. That said, I understand your stance but might be worth looking into for both of us after another year or so! I also don’t see myself stepping away from the Dyn/BRT combo haha
@@tophfb Hahahaha yeah that combo does go really hard. Yeah It might take a lot of time but I'm sure at some point I'll revisit those trucks maybe....possibly...I'd have to hear a lot more good stuff to give them another shot hahaha. Ive always rocked with Dynamic trucks those are my to go trucks. Wanna try the black river 3.0s just not sure there worth the xtra 20-25 bucks over Dynamic trucks which already $40
I would say it's not worth it. the difference between Dynamic and BRTs are worth the extra 25 bucks. I mean if you're in a position where it's like they'll trade you a set of BRTs for a deck you don't use anymore or something like that then by all means give them a shot but I think sticking to what you already got is super solid.
sometimes that lock tight stuff comes off the nut. best thing to do is either pick up another set of the techdeck trucks or go grab some of the Hex trucks from chems or goo. the leefai g3's are an okay substitute but they take a lot more effort to just install on the board.
Put a small amount of super glue on the king pin before screwing it back into the baseplate on those kraken trucks and it should keep them from loosening up, that’s what I did to my vortex v3 trucks because I was having the same issue lol
@@manfreofcyes just put a little bit on the treads and wait for it to dry then screw it in, that fixed the problem with mine loosening after seshing and it shouldn’t strip it out as long as you’re very careful because vortex bases are easy to strip 🤙🏽
I'll try that out. I've been told to try the super glue thing on the baseplates for the hardware for stripped baseplates. Not sure why I didn't think to do the same thing for the kingpins lol. Thanks
@@tcgenefor baseplates I use these really flat and thin plastic toothpicks and cut the sharp tips of them off and and line them in the screw hole of the deck and through baseplate holes and screw it together. Use a razor to cut any excess off. But the toothpick pieces should fill out the looseness of the stripped baseplate holes.
i got 2x the same wood deck one with tech deck trucks but bearing wheels for outdoor. and the same deck with dynamics trucks for indoor tbh they feel the same
Yeah I can see that. I guess when trying to fine tune the boards to exactly how you like them it's easier to pick up on the differences. from the sound, grind feel, weight, all that stuff i mean.
i've recently gotten back into the fb scene and haven't fully committed to a proper setup, but I've been using teaktuning prodigy swerve trucks for almost a year now with no issues at all. i know they're china trucks but they're definitely better than tech deck trucks!
Teak is a really solid point to start off at. If that's what's working for you there's no need to go any further. Yeah even the starter set ups that you can get are miles better than a stock techdeck for sure.
@@tcgene lol the irony of my own comment, i’ve decided to try out a new setup. i went with a deck i haven’t seen/heard much of anything ab, but it’s from slushcult so i have high hopes! also ordered dynamics but i like the feel of my teak wheels, i have new street shape w abec-9 bearing and they still ride pretty smooth! i’m excited to dive deeper into this community i didn’t know was still thriving this many years later :)
@@tcgene I may shatter your illusion: If you have older silver BRTs, compare em with the newer silver ones. You’ll notice visible cast marks on the new hangers. I mean, cmon now, BRR 🤔
My fav trucks gotta be Caramel locknut trucks.. they just better loooking and functioning. I have dynamic and those came unturnable due to inverted kingpin and Black river 3.0s i was disappointed with the quality of look due to machine marks. They also look like prep v2 trucks.. would recommend Dynamic special edition lock nut trucks or Caramel trucks 1000% percent And great feel instantly out of the packaging also remember people get lock nut trucks… they better by a long shot way les stripping 🙏🏼🙏🏼 def like them a lot big W
The problem I have is that where I live (Poland) I can get a BRT pro complete set for like 90$, where the brt trucks 3.0 alone costs 60$! Dynamics are 50$, and sb.trucks 50$ also. I don’t see any reason to buy deck, wheels, trucks, tape separately, cuz even tho there are many great small fb companies, with cool design and everything with all those shipping cost from buying things separately, complete set will be like 160$.. I can have 2 pro completes from BRT for that money.. I want to build my own fb so bad, but this idea that I’ll pay double the price for the same quality/ similar feel product is just.. not gonna mention, that when u spend 350€ in blackriver store u get 5% discount and 1 x wide pro for free, so basically buying 4 completes, the costs of one pro set drops to 80$ Really hard for me to buy something else than BRT.
But anyway.. thanks for this vid, Which are your favorite trucks? What would u choose/ how would you put them from 1 to 3 between sb, dynamic and BRT? Without looking at budget.
brts overall mate i stand by it, if your gonna spend ten dollars less to save a buck just get the brts, the obsius trucks are cheap feeling in copmparison boasting almost the same price
Hahahahaha. Nah it's not like that but yeah 0% interest from me. The other company is called like Kingpin or something like that. they are the ones who have a baseplate that uses screws and locknuts. so that way you don't strip the baseplates swapping different decks.
I haven't given those SE Dynamics a fair shot. I had one set i got when i first got back into fingerboarding and didn't like them. I don't remember what the reason was but I should try and find them.
@@tcgene they are def different from Regs even if at first glance you don't notice, from little things like the pivot itself, to the baseplate. I do tune mine heavily, but as a baseline, they are slightly heavier and lower than Regs. Best explanation I can give, is that riding Regs feels like skateboarding with a hollow truck, vs SEs feel like a standard non hollow. SEs feel beefier to me.

Im riding a pair of teck deck tricks right now the good ones but one kf my wheels keep falling off any recommendations
sometimes that lock tight stuff comes off the nut. best thing to do is either pick up another set of the techdeck trucks or go grab some of the Hex trucks from chems or goo. the leefai g3's are an okay substitute but they take a lot more effort to just install on the board.
@@tcgene thank you so much for the info🙏🏽
Where can I but hardware. Like kingpins and screws for my trucks and locking nuts. Where can I buy this for reasonable prices or bulk l.
Check out my sponsor www.blossomsfb.com/ He makes a bunch of hardware in a ton of colors.
Put a small amount of super glue on the king pin before screwing it back into the baseplate on those kraken trucks and it should keep them from loosening up, that’s what I did to my vortex v3 trucks because I was having the same issue lol
on the bottom part of kingpin you mean? Cause I have also Vortex V3 and Kraken and don't want to stripe the base tbh
@@manfreofcyes just put a little bit on the treads and wait for it to dry then screw it in, that fixed the problem with mine loosening after seshing and it shouldn’t strip it out as long as you’re very careful because vortex bases are easy to strip 🤙🏽
@@joshuabushyhead1115 Damn, too much money for those tbh
I'll try that out. I've been told to try the super glue thing on the baseplates for the hardware for stripped baseplates. Not sure why I didn't think to do the same thing for the kingpins lol. Thanks
@@tcgenefor baseplates I use these really flat and thin plastic toothpicks and cut the sharp tips of them off and and line them in the screw hole of the deck and through baseplate holes and screw it together. Use a razor to cut any excess off. But the toothpick pieces should fill out the looseness of the stripped baseplate holes.
i got 2x the same wood deck one with tech deck trucks but bearing wheels for outdoor. and the same deck with dynamics trucks for indoor
tbh they feel the same
Yeah I can see that. I guess when trying to fine tune the boards to exactly how you like them it's easier to pick up on the differences. from the sound, grind feel, weight, all that stuff i mean.
never looked at it like that tech deck trucks sound pretty anoying and the screw sticks out way to much@@tcgene
great video. where is the hello kitty deck from?
Thanks!! It's a Poli deck
Great video!
Thank you thank you thank you!!
Good video 😃
Thank you thank you thank you!!
i've recently gotten back into the fb scene and haven't fully committed to a proper setup, but I've been using teaktuning prodigy swerve trucks for almost a year now with no issues at all. i know they're china trucks but they're definitely better than tech deck trucks!
Teak is a really solid point to start off at. If that's what's working for you there's no need to go any further. Yeah even the starter set ups that you can get are miles better than a stock techdeck for sure.
@@tcgene lol the irony of my own comment, i’ve decided to try out a new setup. i went with a deck i haven’t seen/heard much of anything ab, but it’s from slushcult so i have high hopes! also ordered dynamics but i like the feel of my teak wheels, i have new street shape w abec-9 bearing and they still ride pretty smooth! i’m excited to dive deeper into this community i didn’t know was still thriving this many years later :)
just found ur chanel and its awsome
Thank you thank you thank you!!
BRTs have sadly fallen way, way off in terms of quality. Last good BRTs were sold in about 2012. I still ride BRTs, but man it's just a shame...
I feel that. Since the 3.0's have come out I haven't had one single issue with them yet. my biggest thing was the baseplates.
@@tcgene I may shatter your illusion:
If you have older silver BRTs, compare em with the newer silver ones.
Yeah I like the Caramel trucks a lot. I had no clue they had a locknut variant. That would help getting them exactly to the tightness I like.
I feel that. I was on BRTs for the loooongest time. very recently I started to like the way Dynamics sit with a high kick board though.
Can you do this video but for wheels now! 🙏
For sure!! I'm finishing one up about decks and wheels will be up next!!
Damn shots fired at blistered lmao not interested in them either but I am in the company that hasn’t came out yet 🤨🤨
Hahahahaha. Nah it's not like that but yeah 0% interest from me. The other company is called like Kingpin or something like that. they are the ones who have a baseplate that uses screws and locknuts. so that way you don't strip the baseplates swapping different decks.
Nugget break😭😂
*chomp*
Obsius trucks are too heavy for me😢
Yeaaaah they are really nice to use but not something for everyday use for me either. The polish on them is nuts though.
Can i have some fingerboard wheels pls
It doesn't work that way.
angular
if we can get a clear Sunday hahahaha.
Blistered trucks are underrated and for the price are actually the best value.
They're very much still in their research and development phase imo.
Blistered trucks are trash anyway
yeah it's super unfortunate. I had a friend grab a set as well and turned out the same way. Hopefully all the kinks get worked out at some point
For me, with personal adjustments and tuning, I'd say I go with Dynamic SE > BRT > Dynamic Reg > UAG > China
@@names2hard4you Gotcha!! yeah I didn't pick up on those differences a year ago hahahaha. I'm down for a beefier Dynamic for sure!!
