I didn't get into fingerboarding my 40's. Yep! My 40's. I'm 43 now and I enjoy it. I admit I got a bit crazy buying too many decks to try but it's a relaxing hobby for me or joy. I don't watch tv for the most part so at night just having some time to relax with it is great. I can do a few tricks. Nothing crazy.
Yeah it's one of those hobbies than can bring back that sense of nostalgia. I really miss being able to go out and skate because of the high impact hobby that it is. fingerboarding gets me suuuper close to getting that same feeling. OH man trust me i know how fast it can get out of hand because there's so many cool graphics, shapes, companies out there.
Not unusual to be a little older. I didn’t start taking it serious till I was 35. a lot of us used to skate and when you get older and can’t skate at a high level anymore or your body breaks down fingerboarding is a good alternative to skateboarding. Also when you have kids and stay at home with them fingerboarding is a fun activity for both you and your kids.
I live in Wisconsin. LOL. There is a small scene emerging. We just had the first event ever in the state a week ago. It was awesome to see what others are using and try out different setups. I learned more from that one event than any video i have watched. I found your videos recently and think they are great. Like you said once you get into fingerboarding everything is very overwhelming, there are so many different brands and options. You just got to keep trying different things and figure out what works for you. Glad someone is making videos like this to help out with all the confusion out there. Keep up the good work and look forward to more videos from ya.

I'm coming back after 10 years of not messing with it. I got yellowood deck dynamic wheels and trucks teak tuning. Absolutely have fallen back in love and I love watching your videos! Because when I get into something I'm like you go all out on it 😂. At one time I had 45k$ worth of banjos in my house

It's a giant playmat I got from my local game store. the smaller ones run about 25ish bucks. Yeah they are definitely a must for those late night 3am seshes hahahaha.
I would 100% say grab a tech deck first since its dirt cheap ($4) and 32mm so u can see for size reference if u wanna go up to 34mm+ or below 32mm and then grab a complete from teak or slush
Neoprene is a rubber type substance used in making gaskets, wetsuits, tires a lot of things. it’s weather stripping also. I’m pretty sure we use open cell in fingerboards.closed cell is waterproof and more expensive. This video was absolutely amazing for the new comers one the best I think wish was out when I started. Yeah I feel that. idk if i'd call it massive though. there's a lot of stuff that goes on behind just selling the board. the materials themselves are pretty inexpensive but a lot of the times the tools used to make them are dumb expensive. Especially when going into a higher production amount.
What brand is that twin tail board? I would love to try something like that. Didn't even think they would do that with a finger board, but hey if its been done with a skate board im sure someone will make it for a finger board. Lol

This was a great video! I recently started getting into pro boards. I got my first teak tuning setup I absolutely love it compared to the standard tech deck! Any recommendations for obstacles on a budget?
I had an idea about doing one on some budget obstacles starting with curbs and rails. for now though you can use stuff you have laying around the house. from there you can find what you have most fun with. like thick books (manual pad), shoe box (drops/gaps) and there's a bunch of stuff that can be used as a ledge or rail to grind on like that book. It's super basic but back when I started fingerboarding in middle school we were putting in work on those textbooks and binders. You can throw absolute banger tricks on the simplistic obstacles out there. Bottom line figure out what you have the most fun on and then you can start narrowing your search from there.

Ah dang. I should have been a little more clear. I meant Amazon completes. I know I said just teak but like Noah wood, Broken Knuckle, P-rep, ect. it totally slipped my mind. Definitely all great starting points. Post yourself fingerboarding in public and tag the city. You'd be surprise with how other fingerboarders come out the woodworks after a few videos. that's how it went down for us.
I have actualy been fingerboarding since i was a kid, every now and than i take the board do my regular kickflip, tre flip, varialflip and than try to heelflip for a couple days and i just cant get it and than i give up and stop fingerboarding untill the sequence starts again XD
Hahahaha Heelflips are just one of those tricks man. what helped me with those is just slowing down and doing an exaggerated hand roll to get the board to flip. First I started off with a fs 180 Heel and then eventually just learned to straighten them out, but the biggest key is to pop then do the hand roll. there is a slight pause before doing the flip motion. at least for me that's how I learned them.
@@tcgene Oh so that is what its called? fs 180 heelflip, when i do mine the board makes a 180 turn i thought that was an inward heelflip what i did thats what im stuck at im gonna forsure follow ur tips and try this handroll and see how i can stop this board from going 180 and try that for a couple of days, im gonna try to learn some other tricks aswell cuz for years ive been actualy stuck with the same 5 tricks which i can land like almost always now
@@montana2806 Don't feel bad about doing the same five tricks. In almost everything I do is a kickflip fronside boardslide. You think you saw a 360 flip noseblunt but in reality it's just a heavily modified kickflip front board. hahahaha. but in all seriousness there's nothing wrong with doing the same tricks. throw them down/up different obstacles. as long as you're having fun (and not putting people down, yourself included) you're doing it right.
In school me and my friends fingerboard in lunch but I only have a teck deck so I can't do lots of tricks but I don't have money to by a pro fingerboard and my teck deck wheels suck pls help me
