They have such a weird reading of this verse.
When Paul wrote his letter to Timothy, it went something like (NIV) "I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God."
Basically, that goodness is more radiant and lovely than any hairstyle, jewelry, or clothing. This is actually an audacious and radical statement for a society that judges on physical appearance, which is exactly the trap we fall into today.

Here in the Netherlands we have the famous Red Light District in Amsterdam, where prostitution is in fact allowed and the people doing their jobs are protected. They’re safe, and can still perform the job if they want, they’re not forced against their will or anything. Other countries could take a look and think “hey, maybe it’s not so bad”

I used to be heavily involved in church. All I have to say is: eff that. I’m not obeying some book written by men thousands of years ago. I wanna wear something low cut and short? Ima do it. My body, my choice. The best part? Every Christian I know is insanely judgmental. Like I was told I was indecent because I had on a maxi dress with a high neck halter. You could see my shoulders and upper back. It was considered “inappropriate”. So now I like to smile and wave at them in my booty shorts and no bra. It’s called growth ✌🏻
