The #3 is probably my least favorite of the original wave of dolls, for many reasons: it’s hard to find one that doesn’t look like a zombie, the green ear problem, and since they were making the transition from 1959’s “seductive” look to the more softer one of the early 60’s, the face paint looks a little off, causing many of the dolls to look like they had lazy eyes.
I get what you're saying. To be honest, the #3 was my least favorite ponytail doll when I started collecting 15 years ago for that reason. Don't know what changed but I think they are very elegant (zombies lol) now.

No there wasn't, the first redhead ponytail barbie released is the #5 ponytail barbie :). She came in brunette, blonde and as a redhead. #1,2 and 3 were available as brunette or blonde.
I love the #3 Barbies!...And since I'll never be able to afford a #1 or a #2, then the #3s are the next best thing, in my opinion.
