I just saw the Barbie Exhibit while on vacation and would love to visit this convention. Oh that store you mentioned as well. So fun!
There is a longer piece of hair always on the left side of the head (unless it has been cut) that is used to create the wrap around band on the ponytail actually. It's often 'missing' on dolls that need a restyle, having been trimmed the same length as the rest of the hair. I hate redoing swirl hair and I think your method is a good realistic ambition. Thank you 😊

A lot of the displayed dolls are second hand it seems by the looks of it, the least they could've done was brush the dolls hair.

I believe there was lipstick you could apply & your lips would turn white back in the early 60s
that sounds so cool! I think there's quiet the possibility that some dolls came with white lipstick. However the platinum Bubble I have, still has some pink shade.

Aside of the store at Mattel headquarters in California, there aren't any Barbie shops in the usa that I know of. We used to have toy stores like Toy r Us and Kay Bee Toys, but they no longer exist. Just another indicator of the dystopian times here in the states.
that's so sad! I'm going to the usa soon and was wondering if there where any specific barbie stores. Couldn't find one.

I understand the confusion, because Mattel used the Casey headmold for Malibu Francie, but she really is Francie in this case :). Thank you for watching!

I really appreciate this video! Not for the reason you may think - but for showing the Barbies being assembled by hand! Several vendors have been caught red-handed selling #3s with repainted face eye and brow makeup! But after being turned in, they reposted their sales, claiming that the marks on the #3s thighs on their fake #1s, are from, "the machines used the assemble them." Which I knew wasn't true, as I have a Barbie 3/4.
