There is a longer piece of hair always on the left side of the head (unless it has been cut) that is used to create the wrap around band on the ponytail actually. It's often 'missing' on dolls that need a restyle, having been trimmed the same length as the rest of the hair.
I hate redoing swirl hair and I think your method is a good realistic ambition. Thank you 😊

I am always scared of brushing and washing vintage Barbie hair cause I think it might fall down?

Me too, but its a good quality to be extra cautious with vintage barbies. It breaks my heart when I see someone brushing the hair of a barbie very roughly. Especially with brushing its important to offer resistance with your other hand so that the hair is not pulled out the head. Good luck!

If you want the hair to stay the way you styled it, wouldn't you boil set it before you tie on the ribbon? That way the "temporary" elastic would be able to be removed.

Also be sure to align the ponytail position with the doll's nose

Very realistic tutorial. I’m surprised you didn’t trim the ends to even it out? She looked great, regardless.

Thank you! I understand the choice to trim the ends in this case, but I try to keep barbies as original as possible. So I kind of just 'fold' the ends so the difference in lengths isn't that noticeable.
