    Wonderful Sue and you look lovely today! A treasure trove of information for newbies and collectors alike. Years ago when I was in university I bought my #1 complete in the box. I had to eat ramen noodles and Kraft dinner for 2 months after on my part time salary 😀 friends and family thought I had lost my mind LOL. My 1959 collection is safely packed away but a joy to see here. Chatty Cathy originally used the same material that fades out so pale too. Last couple off years I have been concentrated on completing my mod collection however as much as I love mod, these early fashions are so chic and glamorous and really represent the fashions of the time. Your Poodle Parade repo is a steal! I have seen them go for over $100😀 Thankyou my dear have a wonderful day.💖💖💖

    As kids with the original of Barbies ‘50 and ‘60, we hated the hats. They’d never stay on, so we used to stick straight pins into their heads to hold the hats in place. We had all these outfits you listed - my all-time favorite ever was the blue striped outfit with the picture hat. Our first Barbies were $1.80, which my parents thought was a travesty: but we played with Barbies and the outfits for a long, long time.

    I was born in 1959. Grandma gave me an early Barbie.Looked something like this, no rods on the feet. She was a redhead with the ponytail. And the black and white striped swimsuit. Wish I had kept the little Barbie clothes catalog I had from the early 60s .

    Nightie Negligee is beautiful with the ribbing on the robe and the dog has it so distinctive. For a total look BarbieQue is completely underrated. Fashion Queen models it well! Even if the jacket is soft the great Winter Holiday does not fit and just too hard to force on. The Poodle Parade repro, doll maybe not great but the fashion seems exact. How do they ever reproduce these fabrics to an identical color and fabric?

    • @BarbieLove
      @BarbieLove  2 года назад +3

      I totally agree Gary. The repo Poodle Parade looks remarkably like the original. I have compared them side by side. Love that little dog. So cute.

    Hi Sue, great video! I have dribs and drabs of some of these outfits, like the Peachy Fleecy coat by itself. I do have the complete Bar-B-Que outfit with all the utensils, never understood what the rolling pin was doing in there either (would have fit better with the Barbie Learns to Cook outfit!). The "fancy" outfits you showed I don't have at all, but they are lovely and maybe someday...! Some like Winter Holiday I do have complete but in reproduction form only (was one of the outfits with the "Let's Play Barbies" doll). That plaid zipper bag I use to keep Barbie's bowling ball in since the original bag fell apart.

    • @BarbieLove
      @BarbieLove  2 года назад +3

      I don't have everything complete either BJ it is quite a chore completing sets. I have some of this and some of that. I think I would like the Winter Holiday in repro. also, Especially the coat, I think I have the rest of the item. Love that little bag, it looks like a bowling ball bag to me too.

    Thank you Sue!!! I love a Barbie 101 Class. Just when you think you know early Barbie, someone teaches you something new!! I have never seen that Peachy-Fleecy hat before. That is so cute!
    Also, I wonder about that orange Sweater Girl and what it is made of...cuz I have one of those Ken, red, grey and white letter-man sweaters with tiny moth holes. I try to find a good one and every time I see one, it will have the same kind of moth holes unless its mint.haha
    I just wonder if Mattel made the sweaters back then with mostly wool. They feel like wool...I guess using moth balls might be good for old Barbie sweaters. haha. but..they just smell so strong!! haha Buzz-Buzz.
    Doll show was mind blowing, especially in the Fashion Doll way!!
    God Speed Naomi Judd...what a Barbie Doll she was.

    Does anyone remember the blue ponytail Barbie, which came in a sliver and purple rectangle carb board box?She was in the center of the box on her black metal stand, zebra swim suit, white Pearl push pin earrings, lack slides, white sunglasses, red lips, and had 5 outfits to the left and right. The year was August, 1961. Outfits: stewardess out, picnic set w/fishing pole, black long sequined long dress w/mic stand, resort set, blue chiffon party dress, orange sweater girl, nurses outfit, winter holiday w/red plaid bag, red/white cruise outfit, gold brocade 2 piece outfit w/fur trim. My mother has a 1958 doll from mattel that i would say it's a barbie doll but it doesn't have the "Barbie" stamp on the butt, but it does have the "mattel inc." And "U.S. PATENTED U.S. PAT. PEND. and a "made in Japan" stamp but both stamps are opposing in how they where put on the doll the top "Mattel" stamp is pressed into the doll and the "Made in Japan "stamp is out pressed. I can't find any info on this doll it does have holes in the feet but not in the same spot as the number 1 barbie. This barbie has the holes in her arches and a "JAPAN" Stamp on the left foot. They are by Mattel and are really good quality, at least the ones that I have seen. Some are even difficult to tell from the originals! It's good to get one or two when the original is hard to find, very expensive and sometimes a fragile outfit that didn't hold up good over the years. Yes they are growing in value.
