I was in a semi-successful band about 4 years ago and we were recording an EP at the old Sound City studio (which dave bought) and I swear on my left nut, we were recording one day and Dave shows up on his motorcycle and comes in to sit in for a bit of the session and was just the coolest, most down to earth dude you could imagine. We were all shitting ourselves. He said something like "sounds fuckin good guys" and literally jumped on his motorcycle and rode off. We later found out his daughter is school mates with our sound engineers daughter and that was why he had originally stopped by. I'll tell that story to my grandkids one day.
This story inspired me to sit at my piano and figure out what that would have sounded like. You can just riff on C#m, A, and B and that's pretty much the whole song. sounds awesome though.

Love the Foo Fighters and especially Dave Grohl, the guys zest for life and love of entertaining and playing music just shines through, but this version is a bit meh, to say the least, I'm sure there'll be another version of theirs out there and it will be epic, but man, this ain't it lol. One of the best acoustic versions i've heard is by Kelly Jones of the Stereophonics that he did for the BBC, if you've never heard ur in for a treat. No one can beat his storytelling and general goofing around though, seems such a cool, nice guy as well, but with his Birthday on the same day and year as me, why wouldn't he lol :-) Their Glastonbury set was absolutely epic, how many bands would run over time by so much they literally had to be dragged off stage with someone cutting the power lol, that's pure love for the music and respect for your audience right there, they know who put em there and they've never forgot, kudos to that. Matthew Hart yes and no. He doesn't sing it perfectly but he is also very passionate. I feel like the energy of the song is maintained so well that his "off" singing doesn't really affect my opinion of the performance. If someone else sang it with the same energy and mistakes I'd probably still really like it

Love the Foo Fighters and especially Dave Grohl, the guys zest for life and love of entertaining and playing music just shines through, but this version is a bit meh, to say the least, I'm sure there'll be another version of theirs out there and it will be epic, but man, this ain't it lol. One of the best acoustic versions i've heard is by Kelly Jones of the Stereophonics that he did for the BBC, if you've never heard ur in for a treat. No one can beat his storytelling and general goofing around though, seems such a cool, nice guy as well, but with his Birthday on the same day and year as me, why wouldn't he lol :-) Their Glastonbury set was absolutely epic, how many bands would run over time by so much they literally had to be dragged off stage with someone cutting the power lol, that's pure love for the music and respect for your audience right there, they know who put em there and they've never forgot, kudos to that. Some other bands should take notice, Axlina Rosey Lee springs to mind, wonder how many times that guy has played too long? Bet you can count them on his dicks, the fucking scrotum sucker, "Our Album will be ready in 8 months", 12 years later, "nearly fucking finished ok" Get a life and a haircut Axl, BurgerKing are hiring (i just got sacked from my toilet cleaning position)

I could say literally anything about Dave Grohl here and it wouldn't matter at all because he's Dave fuckin Grohl. I skipped the story, glad I did if it was about Taylor Swift lol. But this was pretty awesome. I see people kinda talking shit about pot LOL. Oh no! A rock star smoking weed, what is the world coming to?! The long and short of it is that he's great even though he may not always be great. He never hides behind the magic of the recording studio and he does this stuff every damn day so it's understandable that his voice is a little weak in parts and his melodies kinda suffer but still it was awesome. I can imagine that in person was amazing to see.

Matthew Hart yes and no. He doesn't sing it perfectly but he is also very passionate. I feel like the energy of the song is maintained so well that his "off" singing doesn't really affect my opinion of the performance.
If someone else sang it with the same energy and mistakes I'd probably still really like it
