Do you think this season is connected to The Yellowking Cult from season 1? Or do you think the spiral has a different meaning in this season? Let me know your thoughts below!
I think this season tries too hard to be something it can't be. Too many characters, too many genre clichés, too many flashbacks, too many poorly written conversations, too many unnecessary relationships, too many things we don't need to see, but we see nonetheless. If it weren't for the connection with season 1, this series would be considered mediocre at best.
@@shootyall I'm bothered that they are forcing a connection to season one, the only season loved by the fans. Why would a powerful family from the bayou in Louisiana be involved in funding a mine in Alaska? I get Rust's connection because he actually lived there with his father. But I always thought TD was an anthology series meaning none of the episodes/characters are connected to each other.
initially i was intrigued by the cosmic horror hook of ep 1 but now i'm thinking that after the long night, the sun will rise again, so i'm looking forward to a rational explanation and the tuttle connection might be part of it
This 4th series plot is so much better written than the 2nd and 3rd, which had excellent actors who needed better writers. I'm very partial to the two leads here. But the construction of the plot, the clues, the tension, the gorgeous setting, the atmosphere and tone, the mounting suspense all are truly approaching the amazing quality of the first. I love the mystery and understand that people carry secrets and regret and pain and guilt. so I don't use suspect in my analysis of Liz and Navarro.. Yes, whatever their transgressions, I expect there to be plot complications from the humanity of the characters. That makes it relatable and real. And of course the theme WOULD reflect our collective concerns for our damaged world ecosystem...
No one trying to do that. It’s a rare thing for such a loved & respect show to get outdone in a remake (which this is not) or in a sequel (exception is Godfather II). By not making the comparison, I am really enjoying this season.
Excellent job of analyzing the intro segment. Since GOT, I have to remind myself to really look at it since many of us fast forward over it. Truly intriguing. Hoping they land the ending.
I am so hooked on Night Country and your videos make the experience so much better. All the theories you point out are plausible. After watching ep. 3, it occurs to me that maybe Annie discovered the “origin of life” the Tsalal scientists were seeking. And it turns out to be a hellscape not meant for humans to see (the supernatural). Her lover of several years, Raymond Clark, jump scares her because he has to save the research. That’s what we hear near the end of Annie’s livestream. He chooses the mine and Tsalal over Annie K. In a state of madness, Clark commits a ritualistic act: the removal of her tongue to “silence” her forever. This haunts him. He creates the trailer shrine to repent. Clearly I’m invested and spend too much time thinking about possible outcomes.
What I also understood from my experience watching detective series is that songs that appear in more than one episode in a season have some sort of a connection. Otherwise, they appear only once per episode. For example Rose's affair with Travis Cohle while she describes the night she spent with him "Song to the Siren" plays in the background but so far has not appeared again.
There's something about the song Twist and Shout. It appears that the dead scientists twisted their bodies and tried to shout but couldn't or were silenced. That whole Beatles song from Ferris Bueller's Day Off has a sinister connection. Even Liz Danvers seems to be agitated in episode 1 as she tries to switch the TV off. I think she knows or suspects what happened.
Thanks for taking the season at face value and not getting weighed down by the True Detective universe at large. It's become nauseating reading and hearing from so many hung up, especially on season 1, regurgitating the same surface level hate.
I don’t know if I’m enjoying this season or not honestly. Something needs to be explained instead of adding more questions. Episode 4 is make or break for me
I think people are lying to themselves praising this season. Should have stopped after season 1. season 1 is and will always be one of the greatest shows in television history.
@@BrainPilot When we first see Blair with her eye covered (like the polar bear) in a split second we can see she only has 3 fingers. In episode 2 we see the partial print, which also has 3 fingers.
Another HUGE clue: Episde 2 at the hockey rink: 5 pair of pants, 3 shoes. In the same scene at 23:55 we see 5-3 on the score board. 5 fingers on the left hand, 3 fingers on the right. All pointing to Blair.
I also suspect the woman she spoke to briefly, her coworker. The 2nd woman then walks towards the camera to give us a good view of her face. Reminded me of the lawnmower scene.
I think that Liz is sus too. If she helped cover up the murder of the whistling guy (if indeed Navarro pulled the trigger) who knows what else she hides/covers.
I love the concept and story, but it feels like the Disney plus version of season 1. It's not nearly gritty and R Rated enough to reach that original level of provocation.
I love watching breakdowns ("explanations") after an episode. But "trailer explained" is too much... At least name it "breakdown" or "trailer clues" like others. Still unsure there's really an audience for such suppositions, or spoilers (most of us skip the promos).
@@Alex-v8y2rI agree that this season isn’t great ;however, that’s one nonsensical statement you’ve made. I’m sure you’ve watched a mediocre movie/film with no diversity in it.
Agree completely. I find myself tuning out each episode, more and more. With a female director, it's become a slow drama with zero action. And all the political messages completely ruined this season.
@@ceciliaSF-TX didn't say that. I didn't say seasons 2&3 were great. They weren't. But this one has went full-woke, and mainly due to the female director.

Sure looks that way, like there are super connections, doesn't it! I would love if season one characters show up, but I doubt that will happen

So go look at the broken phone right after the video of Annie being yanked away. In the ice is a female image with one eye missing or damaged.
What most don’t discuss is who keeps texting or alerting Danvers ? Tinder / fantasy football I’m not buying it
That's a good point to be fair!
Ancient Inuit tents used whale bones as structural piece.
