Great review. I am wondering if Danvers is catfishing Hank, pretending to be the Russian fiance. She referred several times to fantasy football on her phone, but we never see it. Assuming that everything in True Detective is for a purpose, I'm wondering if Danvers is getting back at Hank. Hank used to be police chief, so he must have been demoted to a regular cop, which explains why he tries to undermine everything Liz does.
We DID see a fantasy football mag on Danvers nightstand, while she was playing the Annie vid over and over. She's not wasting that kind of tome on Hank. He's more likely to be Annie's killer, at least. The scientists dying by the shit there were looking for.
My guess is that there is some sort of organism that is causing neurological symptoms. Tsalal was working on extracting an organism to study to prolong life. The mining could have released that organism into the water supply. It won't be exactly rabies but could be rabies like. Rabies affects neurons, especially the brain so this rabies like disease could cause hallucinations. Rabies causes aggression thus the self inflicted wounds. Rabies can cause lesions in the eye. Perhaps the ear bleeding is from pressure in the brain. There has been a lot of scientific talk about ancient germs being released as the tundra thaws. New organisms have been found this way. That's my bet. It would fit a theme of environmental damage causing climate change or specifically like the mine leading to unearthing a new organism. Then there's a whole cover-up that includes killing people because the Tsalal funders were looking for eternal life, but instead it kills people and drives them mad: Plus Clark is paleomicrobiologist. Paleo--ancient. Studies ancient micro organisms. Heiss mapped the ice caves so he could have been the first infected. We know there are ancient fossils down in the caves. Toxoplasmosis is an infection when in the brain can cause headache, confusion, poor coordination, seizures, lung pchorioretinitis caused by severe inflammation of the retina (ocular toxoplasmosis). It has been linked to schizophrenia as well. Another clue toward a brain/neurological infection. Finally, people have different genetic susceptibility to diseases, thus some people might be more likely to get it. It's estimated that around half of people have the organism that causes toxoplasmosis but only a few get to the point of serious infection and brain disease.
yes. I think Clark is the only important one at the station. He has his own room and the others have to put up with his odd behavior. The teacher said the ice core samples were never going to work for retrieving the microorganism, Clark has been studying a deposit of it in the ice caves, discovered 30 years ago. Clark is insane, either from exposure or he snapped when he was forced to kill Annie. Annie's romance with Clark was a sham, she found out the mine funded the station, insisted the hairdresser take her there, wanted it kept secret, She finally finds what she's looking for- but what does she actually see in the ice caves? And why not film that? The microorganism fits a lot, but burnt corneas? Possibly self-inflicted? And what about the power outages?
Navarro is the new Rust (obsessed with the case, hallucinates), Danvers the new Marty (life is a mess, sleeps with everyone). Neither of them are the killer.
I think young Prior shouldn't be forgotten. He wasn't a cop when he married, his wife never agreed to it. His dad has been demoted (theory), he has access to all kinds of information, either to use for the good or to manipulate. He does research, but seems to be bothered when Navarro finds out what he cannot find, or did not want to be found (again the possibility to manipulate info).... I'm not thinking that he's the killer, since he is always seen at work or at home to sleep mostly, but I think he's doing something of the books.
I think the killer is Qavik, Navarro had the stone when she went over there after the fight, showed it to him, then didn't have it when she went to Liz's house
@@jackdavinci She also could be intentionally lying to Danvers. Could be buying more time with the stone. Or could lean towards the Navarro split-personality theory. Didn’t Navarro tell Danvers her sister was diagnosed with split personality disorder?
Isn’t there a fan theory that in Ferris Buellers day off that Ferris is the alter ego of Cameron or rather Ferris is a coping mechanism / fight club type of dilusional part of him .
I actually came to a thought like this myself and posted it not long ago on reddit... i was wondering why they used that song specifically, twist snd shout and why ferris bueller. I thought maybe Tsalal is like taking a day off on repeat. As in some of them arent really doing work. But also that cameron kinda went crazy in it too.. a bunch more but I was pretty curious about the movie and song. O. Is Danvers pregnant? Looking for a man on tinder if that was legit. And trying to make dinner and be a mom again. Accidentally pregnant tho .. because the lyrics to twist and shout... come on come on baby . Over and over think about it
Might be way off base but Qavvik as the killer could be a really interesting twist. All of his sweetness could be a cover. Like, he's had a scene every episode - why? What's the significance of the SpongeBob toothbrush? Could he be a Tuttle? Definitely think an argument could be made for the majority of Ennis occupants low-key worshipping Goddess Sedna.
Anyone notice in the first flashback to the wheeler case, Navarro is on the right side and then in the second flashback Navarro is on the left side of Danvers
My biggest gripe with the season is the soundtrack. So many scenes have unnecessary hallmark/moody spotify playlist music when ambient music would help be a better fit. Its distracting and loses the vibe of the setting
@@theschafershowhey music is important for some people. I agree that the soundtrack is terrible and it really pulls me out of the show. And yeah, the writing is definitely not great but I don't think this season at all resembles season 1.
Issue I have with the ice cleat theory as a murder weapon is that people from that area would recognize better than anyone so they should have already made that connection if that were the case. I believe the fallout is because Navarro kills the man on the last and Liz has to cover it up as a suicide which is why she’s being interviewed in the trailer and would explain the fallout. It would have to be something major for liz not to want to work with her since she herself is hated.
Qavik for sure either killed Annie K/the scientists or knows who did. The guy looked shook when he saw the stone with the spiral and seems to know a lot about whats going around in Ennis. We're missing something big tho but idk what it is
This may be far out there, but what if Navarro and her sister were students at the Tuttle schools. It might further explain the mental illnesses. Also, Rose spoke about being a teacher. I couldn’t help but think that perhaps Rose was also involved at the Tuttle schools. Also, Navarro did say that she had seen the spiral “a long time ago.”
I think somewhere people are forgetting that Tsalal is owned by the Tuttle’s from season one. And that symbol is from them. Unless they are just using it as a deterrent.
they mention there might be underground ice caves. what if the tuttles have a prison for all the kids and women they kidnap. i know it’s a stretch but i hope the Tuttle connection pays off.
This is so easily debunked. 1. People make one post burner accounts for fandom subreddits all of the time when they’re typically just a lurker but come up with a theory they want to share really badly with others. 2. Novarro isn’t the only person that sees the dead and hears whispers. They make a point to tell us how common it is for others in Ennis to have these experiences during the long night. 3. The wheeler scenes are different because the first one was shown while Danvers was lying about the situation to Prior and the second one was shone while she was telling the truth about it to Novarro. 4. The finger thing I’m very sure was to show that in Ennis the only real jobs available are dangerous ones. Her fingers were cut off by a machine while working. 5. Why would Sedna be Novarro when her sister seems to be way more connected to her myth? She’s the one that goes to the sea when she’s emotional and is being called to it. And she literally dies by drowning in the sea, just like Sedna. On top of that the rest of the points making this connection apply to Julia too- being directly effected by abuse, she’s also close with Qavvik since he looks out for her when Novarro can’t, she sees and hears the dead even more strongly than Evangeline, etc. If anyone is Sedna it’s Julia. 6. It makes no sense to me for Foster to have been talking about Novarro’s character arc in a way that seems positive and have her be referring to her being the killer. Overall, I think that all of the supernatural elements are pointing to Novarro being the one to save the day, not being the one that’s causing the day to need to be saved in the first place. That would be garbage writing that doesn’t fit True Detective’s MO at all. It would be straying even further from the series MO than adding supernatural elements to it. Every season has been about the detectives being able to save others from evil despite their very obvious flaws, that they are good even though they do morally grey or even bad shit sometimes. They are never the cause of the evil, it would go against the point of the entire series to decide to change that and make them be the cause of it, and Issa Lopez knows better than to disgrace the show by doing that.
I also feel like there’s more to Tagaqs disappearance or maybe I am thinking to much in to it, but I found it odd that a man would flee into the frozen tundra whose been hiding out with a nomadic group without his weapon. The he he refused to let go of during the first visit, and his gun was laid exactly in the same position he was sitting in, along with his boots, I didn’t look close enough but may have to rewatch to see if his clothes were also folded neatly by the chair.. I feel like there’s a little more there. But could just be me 🤣
Yeah, thinking Navarro is the killer reminds me of Season 1 when the detectives in 2012 accuse Rust for the murders - which is completely wrong. Plus the whole thing of this TV show is to show how a detective can dedicated their whole life to a case, I don't think this is how it is going to go. The killer is faster than the detectives, making all of these people disappear right before they find them (Annie, Tagaq, the scientists, Clarke...)
After listening to Issa Lopez talk in the episode 4 podcast, I don't feel like Navarro having a split personality is the angle they're going for. Lopez is always hinting towards Navarro and Danvers needing each other to solve the cases. Obviously, Navarro is the believer and Danvers is the sceptic. I think it would quite insulting and disrespectful to Native American culture to just have the show turn around and basically say "oh yeah, she has a split personality and she's the killer, and therefore crazy" It'll turn out to be a lot nuanced than that tired trope. Personally I think Qavvik, Sedna and the Ennis residents being involved in cult/coven activities would be far more compelling but maybe that's just my wishful thinking. In the podcast, there's a huge emphasis on telling tales of Inuit Folklore and delving deep into the spirituality. Here's hoping that stick the landing.
Im really lost on how people can say the show is bad, and has too much filler. If anything the show is jammed packed with stellar character development, and layers to them. Alot of the "filler" is necessary to connect the relationships within the community they live in and understanding the trauma, grief, and history so we can see how it impacts there decisions that lead up to the bigger question of why this is all happening. True detective has always been a slow burner, and i think viewers want a faster paced show and that is never been the style with each season. They are all dark, well acted, and complex characters with rich storylines (even the "worst" seasons.
i could not possibly disagree more. the numerous interactions we see between townsfolk are weightless, insignificant, repetitive, and unnecessarily drawn out. i couldn’t care less about prior’s wife or hank’s fake bride and the show does nothing to remedy that. the pacing is outrageously imbalanced and all this wasted time has done nothing to increase investment in these poorly written, unlikable characters (namely Jodi’s)
@@linedpaper5374if it's as unbelievably bad as you say then why are you watching youtube videos analyzing the show? That makes zero sense. PS- At least come up with some unique criticism. Your comment sounds like you're just regurgitating the same silly hate that this show seems to get for no reason. Reviews like yours are even getting called out in videos and articles now. Too funny 😅😂...
the only letdown I have with this season is how short it is and knowing that there’s only another two episodes. with only two episodes, we can be sure a lot will be left with no explanations :(
it can work if it’s done well. i’d rather have things left for interpretation than over explained and dragging on too long. i’m sure they made it only 6 episodes for a reason.
My only letdown with this season is the writing is atrocious and clichéd. The acting is wooden and forced (poor Jodie did her best with she has to work with), and the story is not even Netflix quality, let alone TD caliber.
I think the cave Annie is in involves the researchers digging and finding something. That would explain a generator being down there. She discovered the truth about what’s going on down there and was killed.
You keep mentioning that it's Peter hacking the ice, but it's Hank. If you look at the original trailer you can see his face. He drags a wrapped body and dumps it into the hole in the ice.
Damn I knew it 😮 From just watching the first episode I had a feeling it was Hank but I'm still not 💯 I'm on episode 3 now.. But in my opinion without a doubt no matter how many true detectives they make none of them will ever compare to season 1 woody and McConaughey was the shit hands down...
if sedna is showing navarro visions and navarro manifests sedna then it'd be like looking into a mirror haha that's a stretch but hey as long as the star-shaped cleats fit
Unlike the previous seasons . This is gonna be a 6 part series . It’s episode 4 and we are exploring the possibilities of killer . I just hope they don’t hurriedly end the series .. I mean they have 2 episodes, 2hrs time to play it out nicely
Im confused then she knew the place because of Annie? She shut off the light's etc. I believe theres so much to do with her past and things she had possibly blacked out. But the men dying of fear? I really hope that this isn't the case and its way more complicated than this. They still haven't mentioned liz son and husband dying im assuming car crash..
When Anders Lund awakes Navarro first seem worried learning that. At the hospital she keeps quiet giving Lund who is blind no chance to know she is there, she also seem worried when Liz questions him. When fighting break out at the hospital, she doesn't rush to the fight, but keeps close to Lund who potentially can identify her as the murder. Lund also dies when only Navarro is present.
Sorry man, sounds daft to me. Before the scientists went missing, Navarro had no interest in them at all. No reason to tie Annie’s death to them. Would have killed the miners if anyone. Totally leaves out the microorganisms Tsalal was studying. I still think Annie killed them, resurrected by the microorganism after dying in some way I don’t know how to explain yet. I guess she found something spooky in the ice caves, something connected to the spiral mythology. I’m more convinced of it now that Navarro’s sister is dead, and how she mentioned she was going to be receiving her body. After they find Clark and learn about the microorganism resurrection stuff, maybe Navarro starts thinking about bringing back her sister.
Man, I'd hate it if was the schizo twist. It's a terrible trope on par with 'it was all a dream' or 'you were dead the whole time'. But alas, it seems plausible. They better have a damn good explanation for how a schizo chick killed 5 dudes and moved their bodies. Mind altering polluted water would be another cop out. 2 episodes left, and there's a lot to wrap up.
This theory may explain why every ghost she sees is pointing to herself… she is/was security for tsalal wasn’t she? I can’t connect the dots in my head but I can see how that part of her in trance knows what’s been happening
@@TeeTV22 no need to be rude, I thought I heard that the police dept was protecting tsalal (or perceived that way?) and that’s why the local woman didn’t want her in their gathering…???
If you look at Eddie and Peter’s boots, it doesn’t look like they’re wearing cleats so must as chains that run under the shoes. Cheaper and less effective than actual spikes, but they serve the same purpose (and are pretty effective still). That said that seems to be a stretch. If she was kicked and left with a bunch of tiny stab wounds how would they have not figured that out? Also a kick would be very unlikely to cause stab wounds as the spikes on the cleats face straight down. You’d need to stomp someone to cause stab wounds. Also the spikes on the hunter’s cleats look triangular instead of star shaped.
I'm rewatching the first 4 episodes supposing this theory is correct. In the first episode, after Navarro goes to see her sister after her first mental health episode, besides the clear goddess pictures and one of the ocean at night on her wall, the 'bridge' between this scene and the next has a woman speaking what is very probably a native language and CLEARLY says the word Sedna [sssssssedna]. It sounds like a prayer. [29:25]
While this theory is interesting, it doesn't explain the psychosis of the scientists. Navarro couldn't have been so horrifying that she made them all fold their clothes and get naked in the tundra. Same with her sister. This show is excellent and I can't wait to see how it all plays out.
Mmk…I have a feeling they might leave us hanging about the scientists. We may never know what happened to them. (or Annie’s tongue for that matter) I’m thinking her story was included simply to throw us a bone & give them something they CAN solve so they didn’t let us down completely. Well I for one will be furious if I’m right!
Really like this theory and hope it's true but I still think the more likely explaination is that Hank Prior is the killer, at least of Annie Kowtok, because of some love triangle bullshit.
Yea but, the killer how? Lol Do we think that she just killed Annie? Do we think that she somehow manipulated up to 8 persons brains to commit self harm and either kill themselves or completely incapacitate themselves? If Navarro is the killer, then she has mythical, super villain powers. Did she kill the caribou too? Because they did the same thing As her sister and the scientists. 8 Scientists aren’t going to willingly walk out in to the ocean naked, because a corrupt female state trooper is holding a gun to them. Is Navarro the source of the light in the tunnels? If this is some bat shit Fight Club meets Haunting in Hill house, that’s just completely insulting to the audience. The writer would have just completely taken advantage of an already existing fan base in True Detective which is based on fiction “true crime”, and inserted her weird horror/ sci-fi bullshit. She has attempted to raise women to a higher standard in this show, and failed miserably because they all look weak as hell. I don’t get it. She can’t be the killer lol. Unless it’s dumb supernatural shit.
Here's the thing though: what does "killer" entail? She murdered the tsalal crew ? Or killed kowtok ? I think Navarro has "something" to do with the events, just not sure what.
Interesting theory and breakdown. There is another reference to wolves that appeared in the first episode, almost unnoticed. When the detectives are searching the abandoned lab, there is a shelf of books, mostly concealed behind a radio so their titles cannot be clearly seen - two books on the right side of the shelf, however, are clearly visible, which makes their placement probably intentional. Both are by the late science fiction author Gene Wolfe: "The Fifth Head of Cerberus" (the title referencing the 3-headed dog guarding the gates of Hades, and in which questions of identity are ambiguous throughout) and The Urth Cycle, an omnibus edition of Wolfe's books set at in the very far future where the sun has grown smaller and dimmer and the stars are visible in the daylight sky. Wolfe is well-known for the use of unreliable narrators, complex plots which often require multiple readings to fully grasp what is going on, and an extensive reference and use of characters from mythology, who sometimes intrude into the "real" world...all of which seem to be going on in the series...
@@LaddRusso91they never actually show her reporting it to the authorities, we just assume that. But in Ep 1 Danvers walks right by her like she doesn’t see her
Schizophrenia also literally means “split mind” so I think that combat scene is a foreshadow. There’s a reason they showed that. Another detail only the killer would know is that Clark was still alive and not part of the corpsicle. Navarro sounded so sure of herself when she announced this to the other officers, and I found it strange. Navarro seems to lose time as well. This theory is certainly possible
I’ve been waiting for a season where the detective is the killer but idt it’ll be satisfying here. The lead up hasn’t been worth it so far. I can see this playing out though.
I like this theory in general and finding the cross in her truck really supports it. However it doesn't seem in line with True Detective. The show is all about Lovecraftian horror and the supernatural and Navarro having split personalities and unknowingly being the killer is more horror movie of the week shtick. Anyone remember that John Lithgow movie, Raising Cain?
Many reactors and theorists are able to have screeners sent beforehand. Another reviewer said she was given 4 episodes for this show. It's common, and the companies can send any amount or a whole season depending on that series release strategy. Also, my understanding is that when they get it they're under embargo & legally responsible not to spoil, but it gives them lots of time to have videos right after the episode drops for us.
@@AstoriaMind Yes, this. But their screeners do not have subtitles, so I've seen some that have missed things that others caught due to have their subtitles on.
And remember the dude Oliver made it a point to tell Navarro she doesn’t remember her native name or something like that .. yeah this theory holds up pretty damn well right now
Ep 1 When Liz is standing next to the DVDs the movie "The Thing" magically appears next to her when it wasnt there a few seconds earlier. Its a a red cased DVD in that spot. Hard to believe it was a continuity mistake considering its one of the driving force behind the story.
Given how taken Navarro was with Annie's case, I always thought she just unalived Wheeler because she was sick of him nit being punish led for his crimes. Liz says early on that Navarro has a thing about women getting hurt. She doesn't let it go, even when it means she steps outside the law.
Yes, i saying this when I watch the First Episode, Inuit myth is in ALL characters, and this is my hipothesis too, I see Sedna in ALL women in this show. rsrs. Awesome. ❤
Danvers is having auditory hallucinations. She heard twist and shout when opening up the fridge to put the turkey in to defrost. She uses the white noise machine as a crutch.
Something else to add: I think when Navarro was asked by Danvers what she likes to do, Navarro replied, "I pray." I think it was actually meant to mean "prey" vs. "pray." Her alter ego preys on others.
It's probably best to forget about season 1. The season 4 producers purposely added the Rust Cohle link to compel viewers even more. There is no link to season 1 and makes no sense at all that there ever was one.
@@1975sabuI hear you, and that’s possible. Hollywood knows how to leech off a successful thing to drive intrigue. But also…we can’t make definite statements about a season that isn’t finished yet. The “spiral cult” connection may not be completely resolved by season’s end, but there could definitely be a connection. “Tuttle” was a very intentional mention.
@@1975sabu and that’s what makes it even more confusing bc they keep showing us the spiral from the tuttle conspiracy and they we’re currently still working on the case as another body turned up in season 1 could they have something going on up there in the cold which led rust father there to begin with
I can’t help but think that they’re going to try and insinuate that Hank and Peter are Tuttle’s/Childress’s. Rust even says in the final ep of S1 that they didn’t catch all of them.
3:19 - Um, as a person of faith, I have to say that part of prayer IS listening (at least it is for me). Otherwise, it could be mistaken for a vending machine or the request line for a radio station. 😜
Actually this is a really good theory, because something that everyone talk before die is: "She is awake" and that could mean about her alter ego. And that could be the first season that the detective actually is the murder.
I think maybe Hank Prior is Anne K's killer or he's protecting the killer (the mine guys?), and that's why he told his son in a past episode that "blood is blood", therefore, that family is more important than anything else when his son Peter stole the Anne K files that Hank had in his house for Danvers. In the end, his son will have to choose between his father (Anne K's killer) and Danvers (ie, his police work and punishing criminals). Also they aren't going to get such a great actor like John Hawkes for such a minor role, right?. No way. Saying that, I think maybe the Scientists' deaths have nothing to do with Anne K's death, like they are two separate things. Perhaps some organism they were testing on awakened and they knew it was incredibly contagious so that's why they ran out like crazy into the snow, and afterwards, hypothermia started kicking in so they took off their clothes. (mind you, why did they fold it though, or did someone else do it so their deaths would be investigated further as a murder case)? In any case maybe Clarke planted Anne K's tongue there before he ran away, so that Anne K's case could be re-investigated. Or maybe it was Rose Aguineau. Maybe her dead husband Travis Cohle lead her to the tongue and she kept it. Another possibility is one of the native cleaners. Maybe one of them had their 'spirit animal' lead them to find Anne K's tongue, long after her murder, so they kept it for safeguarding.
I will admit this theory sounds true but I will admit it only more cool because you are explaining it because I think this season doesn’t have a lot going for it something about it seems small and the first season seem big, I understand this story is around just Alaska but it feels like a mini series more than the last 3
nah. it would be such a letdown to make someone with mental illness a dangerous killer. there has to be some supernatural element to the ending or the writing is lazy.
It will be bad storytelling if they never mention any of this about Sedna in the show, and they’re just like, “Split personality!” It would almost be worse if they finally mention any of it at this point.
nahhhhh none of this explains how she would have actually committed all these acts, rather than comparing overarching themes to her, it needs to explain how she actually did this in real world.
In the videos I watched of indigenous women telling the story of Sedna, she didn't marry a dog. She married a shapeshifter who could turn from human into dog form. I feel like that's a little different.
In episode 1: Why does Rose tell Navarro she's fucked when they find the scientists in the ice? And why is Navarro lurking around the research center in the first place when Danvers first shows up?
The show is boring. It goes for 43 minutes with side stories that don't move the plot along. It keeps hinting at the possible involvement of super natural forces and it hasn't developed Hank's character very well. Also, it hasn't capitalized or integrated the season one connections very well into the season and we have already seen 2/3's of the show. Just a lot of missed opportunities.
Or is it Pete? There's a scene in the series wearing a brown shirt with patterns/symbols matching Annie's wounds, and he's shown directly under an interrogation lamp....
It’s been bugging me but this and your other video have convinced me this season is inspired by “Franklin's lost expedition”. The way the frozen bodies look like the actual frozen mummies, the oranges (scurvy!), the hallucinations (mercury or lead poisoning or even vitamin d deficiency) the location (the arctic) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin%27s_lost_expedition
I think the spiral also represents madness (mental illness or heavy metal poisoning) involves a lot of circular thinking and pacing in circles. I also feel like this season has been purposely giving loose allusions to The Thing (monsters in the ice, scientists gone mad, people’s identities being murky). But instead of a UFO, I think it will be the mine tailings leaking into the ground water or the animals that people eat (caribou, fish)
All I know is that I'm going to be really annoyed if Navarro is the killer. That would be almost as bad as the GOT ending or TWD. I'm still irritated that Carl never climbed out from under that dumpster, lol.
Do you think this theory holds any weight? Or is this just a huge red herring?

We DID see a fantasy football mag on Danvers nightstand, while she was playing the Annie vid over and over. She's not wasting that kind of tome on Hank. He's more likely to be Annie's killer, at least. The scientists dying by the shit there were looking for.
@@dianegreyson8787 Not if he's actually the killer.
Then there's a whole cover-up that includes killing people because the Tsalal funders were looking for eternal life, but instead it kills people and drives them mad:
Plus Clark is paleomicrobiologist.

Or navrros boyfriend did it
@@Newerasamearea yeah Quavvik is involved for sure
I believe that when people point to Navarro that they are pointing behind her not at her.
but in the hospital nobody was standing behind her
Navarro is the new Rust (obsessed with the case, hallucinates), Danvers the new Marty (life is a mess, sleeps with everyone). Neither of them are the killer.
The real killer Hanks fiancé. I’m convinced after she murdered his emotions in episode 4.
THANK YOU
We saw her take it out and put it on the counter. Shortly after she had her arm reset and was in intense pain. Probably forgot it.
Also this ep she asks him why he is alone in life and a point is made that he identifies as alone when it seems he shouldn't be, not bad idea

Definitely think an argument could be made for the majority of Ennis occupants low-key worshipping Goddess Sedna.

My biggest gripe with the season is the soundtrack. So many scenes have unnecessary hallmark/moody spotify playlist music when ambient music would help be a better fit. Its distracting and loses the vibe of the setting
That’s your biggest gripe…? Not the fact that it’s a terribly written, regurgitated version of season 1?
We're missing something big tho but idk what it is
It's the women who work at the factory, they're the most likely culprit
@ThatOneGuy7550 No.
I'm pretty sure it's Hank Prior. Why was he so possessive of Anne's files? Why did he do stuff that buried her case?
This may be far out there, but what if Navarro and her sister were students at the Tuttle schools. It might further explain the mental illnesses. Also, Rose spoke about being a teacher. I couldn’t help but think that perhaps Rose was also involved at the Tuttle schools. Also, Navarro did say that she had seen the spiral “a long time ago.”
Can you explain what significance you think the netting is?
I think somewhere people are forgetting that Tsalal is owned by the Tuttle’s from season one. And that symbol is from them. Unless they are just using it as a deterrent.
they mention there might be underground ice caves. what if the tuttles have a prison for all the kids and women they kidnap. i know it’s a stretch but i hope the Tuttle connection pays off.
Yes! Spirals, Tuttle, Cohle... there has to be a payoff! I will take 5 fucking cents but i need something peeple lol 😅😅😅
Ancient bacteria released caused by the scientists and the mines is likely.
I think it would quite insulting and disrespectful to Native American culture to just have the show turn around and basically say "oh yeah, she has a split personality and she's the killer, and therefore crazy"
It'll turn out to be a lot nuanced than that tired trope.
Issa is also an awful writer. At least, episode 3 and 4 were trash
Shill.
Could be that people are so eager to find out who the killer is that they dont have the patience.
i could not possibly disagree more. the numerous interactions we see between townsfolk are weightless, insignificant, repetitive, and unnecessarily drawn out. i couldn’t care less about prior’s wife or hank’s fake bride and the show does nothing to remedy that. the pacing is outrageously imbalanced and all this wasted time has done nothing to increase investment in these poorly written, unlikable characters (namely Jodi’s)

Hank is starting to look more sus as time moves on.
Man, I'd hate it if was the schizo twist. It's a terrible trope on par with 'it was all a dream' or 'you were dead the whole time'. But alas, it seems plausible.

I can't figure who the killer is because there is always something happening that freaks me out...then I lose focus temporarily...lol

Schizophrenia also literally means “split mind” so I think that combat scene is a foreshadow. There’s a reason they showed that. Another detail only the killer would know is that Clark was still alive and not part of the corpsicle.

This is good but if it doesn’t connect to season one somehow I’ll be disappointed why have the spirals and Rusts father being mentioned

Interesting theory...and wouldn't really be as much of a let down as the Ragnarock ending!
I will admit this theory sounds true but I will admit it only more cool because you are explaining it because I think this season doesn’t have a lot going for it something about it seems small and the first season seem big, I understand this story is around just Alaska but it feels like a mini series more than the last 3
Probably because it is a major no series. Lol that's usually what 6 episodes means.
i think the outcome that can explain everything is there is two killers not just the one
nah. it would be such a letdown to make someone with mental illness a dangerous killer. there has to be some supernatural element to the ending or the writing is lazy.
Geez, dont let it turn into Angel Heart.
It will be bad storytelling if they never mention any of this about Sedna in the show, and they’re just like, “Split personality!” It would almost be worse if they finally mention any of it at this point.
I really hope it’s not a split personality troupe. That would be lazy
nahhhhh none of this explains how she would have actually committed all these acts, rather than comparing overarching themes to her, it needs to explain how she actually did this in real world.
Thats true… how scare 6 Scientists to death?
I could buy that maybe she killed Annie, maybe, I dunno…
But everyone at Tsalal? Seems a bit much
It's just a theory, not a criminal case.
In the videos I watched of indigenous women telling the story of Sedna, she didn't marry a dog. She married a shapeshifter who could turn from human into dog form. I feel like that's a little different.
“it’s not that the dead don’t speak, it’s just that we have forgotten how to listen”-Pasolini
The real killer on this show is Issa Lopez 😂😅
In episode 1: Why does Rose tell Navarro she's fucked when they find the scientists in the ice? And why is Navarro lurking around the research center in the first place when Danvers first shows up?
So it's kind of "Angel Heart" meets "Fight Club"?.
I buy it.
I actually posited this theory on Twitter a bit ago
The show is boring. It goes for 43 minutes with side stories that don't move the plot along. It keeps hinting at the possible involvement of super natural forces and it hasn't developed Hank's character very well. Also, it hasn't capitalized or integrated the season one connections very well into the season and we have already seen 2/3's of the show. Just a lot of missed opportunities.
True Detective Season 5 Starring Zach Braff & Donald Faison
also navarros boyfriend tell her that she‘s never alone
Or is it Pete? There's a scene in the series wearing a brown shirt with patterns/symbols matching Annie's wounds, and he's shown directly under an interrogation lamp....
You need to get out more
thanks!, please share your other insightful comments on the show, such as ice is cold, night is dark@@ryanbrets7695
It’s been bugging me but this and your other video have convinced me this season is inspired by “Franklin's lost expedition”.
The way the frozen bodies look like the actual frozen mummies, the oranges (scurvy!), the hallucinations (mercury or lead poisoning or even vitamin d deficiency) the location (the arctic)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin%27s_lost_expedition
I think the spiral also represents madness (mental illness or heavy metal poisoning) involves a lot of circular thinking and pacing in circles.
I also feel like this season has been purposely giving loose allusions to The Thing (monsters in the ice, scientists gone mad, people’s identities being murky).
But instead of a UFO, I think it will be the mine tailings leaking into the ground water or the animals that people eat (caribou, fish)
i kinda hate how the episodes don’t have names. I always liked the names of the episodes in previous seasons.
All I know is that I'm going to be really annoyed if Navarro is the killer. That would be almost as bad as the GOT ending or TWD. I'm still irritated that Carl never climbed out from under that dumpster, lol.
its like a meh story that never takes off, the grouchy dimples lady is a turn off.
Bring Cary Fukunaga back. Although this season does a great fan service, we all know Mr. Fukunaga vision was the secret of the first season success!
Consider my mind...Blown 😲😲
I believe there’s something in the water that’s making them go slowly crazy. Remember in the first episode there were protests about clean water!!!
also important that navarro doesnt know her Inuit name because her mother didnt tell her. dundundun.
