Watching the final montage of screenshots of how those actresses are behaving online and how media is talking about the show makes me worried about the intellect of the average person nowadays and what the future has in store for us.
It’s just that’s Kali Rice chick and Lopez, the creator behaving like that. You can expect that of entitled diversity hires. Jodie Foster, on the other hand, has been a star since childhood and is a consummate professional. You’ll never catch her doing anything like that.
It's the worst writing in a major tv show in a long time. I don't think HBO audiences were prepared for the potential of something this poor. There's a palpable state or shock, and justification. In time, the Issa Lopez era of True Detective will be understood as an unintentional comedy along the lines of The Room. It's that bad.
Yes! By Episode 2 I was like, wait, this isn’t how humans even act. Like it’s so incredibly stilted and the dialogue so bland and hokey and horribly written that it’s almost surreal. That’s why many people are saying it feels like it was written by AI; there’s no real depth or humanity to the characters like in previous seasons, or in most shows… like the way everyone treats the “corpsicle” so damn casually and nobody seems scared or bothered or confused or weirded out by literally anything that happens… it’s just bafflingly bad writing. In hindsight it’s clear the reason nobody cared about the corpsicle and the scientists even early on was because they turned out to be Bad Guys - a classic case of the characters somehow knowing the script ahead of time, because for them these scientists are all not known to be Bad until the last episode. Also people knock Pizzolatto for plagiarism but at least he did something remarkable with his influences. S4 though is just so bland and so generic and utterly unoriginal. Every scene and every character feels stitched together from like 20 other shows and films that are far superior; it doesn’t have an original bone in its cyborg body.
To be fair, there was nothing wrong with the acting itself for the most part. Some of the actors were underused or not given much to work on, but other than that it was fine. Everything else however, was just bad. Like, BAD bad.
@@Furcapper Yeah the acting was fine for the most part. The script was horrendous which tends to make every other element of the show worse. How this season currently 'earned' 81 on Metacritic just blows my mind. It surely will not age well.
The finalé is all women vs. all men. It was intended to be a feminists moment. It fell short drastically. I’m not some redpilled Andrew Tate fan, but this sucked completely. The women had no idea who exactly was responsible for Annie’s killing, and they didn’t know what was going on under Tsalal. They’re all just murderers, and we should dislike Navarro and Danvers for letting them off the hook. But women looking out for women who killed men, I guess. If I could have given it a 0/10 on IMDb, I might have.
Honestly if that was the issue I’d be able to get passed that. The problem was no two ppl had any charismatic chemistry between eachother. Everything just sucked and was depressing and the dialogue sucked. Navarro was such a silly character and so was the acting for her.
Dude i am a 39 year old biological WOMAN, wife and mother. This whole “feminist” season was embarrassing. I mean…I don’t identify whatsoever with any of the characters at all. The plot started strong with the frozen scientists but I swear it’s like Lopez launched that as a pilot, was picked up for said pilot, but when told that she had no STORY that she immediately claimed discrimination. Bc she’s a woman…. Not bc she had no damn idea what TF she’s doing….. But…woman! Discrimination! Look Billie Eyelash!!! 🤢🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🤦🏻♀️
The message I got is that if you are cop it's OK if you break the law. If you a woman then you are justified to kill men. If you are native you have some type of deep heritage that white people couldn't possibly have.
Wow you could probably come up with a bunch of these. Remember when the survivor gave a cryptic warning about what happened the night of the murders? The writer didn’t.
They literally tell us that the scientist couldn't have froze to death, people don't die like that when they freeze. But then we find out they froze to death?
No that’s not what happened, “she” took them. The women said if she didn’t want them she’d let them return to their clothes and they’d be worse for wear but alive. It’s supposed to be a supernatural presence “killed them”
@@aubreythompson1233 Forget about exploring more of the “supernatural entity” we never see, let’s have more drawn out sex scenes that nobody asked for! - Issa Lopez
@GETTING-LOST Slow down there buddy. I enjoyed Lost. But the Dharma polar bear experiment plot detail was weak sauce. (For those that don't know, they were running an experiment whether they could get polar bears to adapt to a tropical climate by increasing their intelligence, among other things.) The polar bear evolved from brown bears after migrating north over 100 million years ago. The logic of doing this on a small island is questionable. Plus, the polar bears are more like zoo animals, which makes the "experiment" kind of unimpressive. Basically, with both shows, the writers wanted to put an apex predator on the show to heighten the sense of danger.
@@michaelwankewycz6209 Actually--for those that don't know--please just watch the show. I assure you the above explanation is not at all accurate, though this type of misunderstanding is far from uncommon. No one was trying to get the bears to adapt to tropical climates (nor were they trying to increase their intelligence). That had nothing to do with why they were brought to the island. In fact their tolerance for low temperatures likely had everything to do with it... You starting your response with "Slow down..." makes me think you mistook my honest question as some sort of attack on you or an indictment of your overall feelings on Lost. I can assure you, neither is the case. There are simply *MANY* misconceptions about the series that get spread to/by people who have never seen the show, and _sometimes_ when I come across one, I like to--politely and respectfully--challenge it. (Granted, this does seem largely pointless in a RUclips comment section, where things seem so easily misread as hostile, lol.) I honestly wasn't sure if your dislike for the payoff was based on a misconception or if you truly didn't like the _actual_ payoff (which would be a perfectly valid opinion, even if I don't share it). Which is why I asked; I was genuinely curious. Sorry for bothering you. Namaste.
HBO has already signed on Issa Lopez for more seasons of True Detective as well as other projects. I told my husband this, it's a dumb lifetime movie meant for I am woman hear me roar, emotional junk. Which drives me nuts! You CAN write incredible beautiful stories with women becoming strong, already are strong, expressing their strength and still have wonderful stories that don't make you feel like you listened to "make me cry" Disney emotional blackmail music all day: examples: ALIENS!!! Ripley is INCREDIBLE!! Sarah Conner from a Terminator 1 and 2!!! Where are my female heroes??? Ugh! So frustrating!!! I'm a woman, and True Detective season 1 was definitely my favorite adult show on television probably ever. It was incredible for anyone that's watched it will know. I watched every episode of this, and yes, I was saying - this is dumb. My predictions for the future of Lopez's career are this; she'll get a second season, it'll be nothing as 'good' as this one. They may give her a third to not look like idiots (same thing happened with the original True Detective creator Nic), and they'll probably cancel the rest. The thing I think that sold this show (as any mystery) was the gimmick / the catch. Everyone loves a mystery. The setting, seeing Jodie Foster again, the gimmicks (corpsicle, tongue, spiral, "she's awake," and overall all the spooky stuff) carried the show, and even though yes Lopez wrote this, she obviously had no idea how to artfully implement any of those points with a proper satisfying payoff. Spooky bear because SPOOKY BEAR!! Obviously the writing was extremely subpar, and that's why I don't think Lopez will be successful in the future. The only way she recreates this draw is with another huge gimmick, and even then I think it'll only carry her awful, "we leave it up to the viewer," writing a very short while. It's annoying and it's obvious to anyone who watched the entire season how bad the writing is.
Lopez got the new deal because of the high ratings. But I believe at least half the audience stuck it out to the end in hopes there was going to be a finale that at least provided some level of payoff and a somewhat salvaging of the mostly mediocre to poor season. But after the finale nose dived the landing into the ocean - I think many who stuck this out won't be doing so next season. There's a large chasm between the critics (92% rotten tomatoes) and audience scores (57% I believe). Many of these viewers won't bother next time around knowing Lopez is back. My prediction is that the ratings are going to take a significant dip next season.
1. The show seems to think the scientists' fate at the hands of the cleaning ladies mafia is justified not only because they killed Annie, but because of their complicity in the poisoning of the town water supply. Fair enough, except there's no way the cleaning ladies mafia could possibly know about that, so their sadistic response is purely in reaction to the death of Annie. 2. Prior's cousin heavily implied that the men did not die of exposure, and the avalanche explanation is framed as making no sense. The mens' looks of frozen horror is never explained, and this plot point is merely swept under the rug. 3. Many of the overt supernatural elements could be chocked up to the mental health issues that run in Navarro's family. Except, Aunt Petunia hallucinated(?) Rust's interpretive dancer father who led her directly to the frozen scientists. Her own words: "Travis showed me." No practical explanation is given. 4. The cleaning ladies mafia lay out the scientists' frozen clothes, then drive them naked into the frozen tundra at gunpoint. We see them run and run until they disappear into the darkness. Except, Navarro is the one who finds their clothes later and they are close by, implying the men were not far away when they froze to death. This is where Annie Wilkes would accuse the writers of "cheating." I'd write more, but I just finished pooping and have to go back to work now. Bye.
issa lopez was completely overwhelmed by the task. desperately trying to connect this mess to season 1 by symbols and characters. this is probably the worst tv show i have ever seen. there are only 3 seasons of true detective to me.
Imagine spending BILLIONS is such a investigation facility, and then having ZERO security. You get overrun by cleaning ladies. HAHAHA. The more you think about it, the stupidier it gets. HAHAHA.
US when they seize an uranium deposit in the 1940s-50s : "bring an entire MP division to provide security, fence up the entire facility, interact minimally with the locals, extract as quickly and as safely as possible" US when magic omnipotent black stuff according to this show: "Lmao just send more money"
Honestly I had a literal WTF moment when I heard the song used on EP 1. I skipped it because I hate that song and immediately took me out, but it was my first of many cringes.
I can't believe it took you hearing the intro to know it's bad. You should've known it was bad when they revealed that it would star 2 female protagonists with a female producer and write.
SpongeBob toothbrush was the most interesting character in this series. And how did the toilet women know all the scientists killed what's her name, and not just one scientist killed what's her face? And why are all the toilet women in the same house at the end? It's like they all knew we have to be together to hear the "detectives" let us off scot-free. or do they all just work together and live together, that would be weird. In the end the show basically came down to this, MAGIC TOILET WOMEN!
5 episodes of looking for Clark and when they find him, Danvers decides to take a nap. What!?! And she finds a gold chain in her hair? What was that about?
This finale was the most ridiculously, idiotically awful season wrap up I’ve ever seen. Anyone who thinks this was actually good on any level should probably take Rust Cohle’s sage advice and save the rest of the gene pool. 😂
I ended up watching it because it was so funny, I couldn't stop! It was literally a comedy to me. That's how bad it was. It made season two look genius!
Nah, don't talk shit about S02. It's literally a misunderstood masterpiece. The pressure and expectations that it had to live up to was unreal. S02, quality-wise and on its own, was incredible, one of the best endings too. The only sin it committed was being labeled as a follow-up to that impossibly meticulous first season.
For a true detectives story, these have to be the absolute worst detectives that I have ever seen in the show. Navarro kills Wheeler and nothing happens. They end up killing Hank and Otis and nothing happens. They find out Annie Kay’s killer, and nothing happens, they find out what happens to the scientists, and nothing happens, and even when they send in Clarks confession, they do it anonymously and don’t bring the corporation to Justice. I mean, are these the worst cops ever? Not to mention Danvers, driving drunk, Navarro beating up citizens. Unbelievable.
Rewatching these clips of the cleaning lady mafia is even stupider than I remember. I think my brain might have suppressed some of these clips the first time I watched it to protect my brain cells.
I don't get it. "1899" (Netflix) was cancelled after just one season with 75% score by the audience, while the 4th season of True Detective was renewed for a fifth season with a 57% score by the audience according to Rotten Tomatoes.
Someone in the comments to Erik Cain video said, that showrunner didn't fought the studio, let them cut the show and tie it to True Detective first season (hence dumb lines about time-circle and such, also accent on spiral that didn't had any significance to plot, could have been changed to other symbol the same), so, because she didn't cause any problems to studio, and actually made them money (the way you need to subscribe to max in order to watch an episode each week, unlike netflix, that just dumps all episodes at ones, and usually the fate of renewing the show is decided even before streaming), the producers and max were like "neat!" and renewed it....
I am from Russia and I am a big fan of TD. And I was so much pissed off with the season 4 that searched for some analysis of the season in English youtube. So, I wanna say that it was not True Detective and had many meaningless lines, dialogues, uncovered and unrevealed themes, with so many narratives said but unelaborated, unexplained. More over, I should say that so called agenda with strong woman is just annoying. I am not against the women, but those two are stupid and horrible heroes having less in common with real detectives and policemen, who generally heroes of previous seasons were used to be with no doubts. I am pissed off and dissapointed. What on Earth are you doing to the show? To the name and idea? Ps That was a bad advertisement of strongwoman agenda !!!! Main characters are just stupid but not strong !!!
True detective is over, 2 was a blunder, 3 was a decent return to the original vision. 4 ended it. Noone rational can consider this garbage a true detective season. btw Pizzolatto alone would not be able to save it, he would need to bring Cary Joji Fukunaga back as director as well.
I personally think season 5 will be a massive failure. I think people tuned in believing it couldn't be as bad as what they're hearing. Once they did, like me, I'd imagine that they're done with it all together. If I wanna watch true detective, I'll rewatch seasons 1 & 3. I'm good with that. Also, Issa Lopez ripped off a lot from Wind River with Jeremy Rener. It just feels like that should be acknowledged.
I also don't understand, there were so many of the women who raided the station, how come only one of them half heartedly tried to open the hatch, couldn't 3 of them try to open it together or use a tool? That's strange.
Danvers is just horrible not just as a person but she also doesn’t learn from her mistakes and by the end her character is outright diabolical in neglect and recklessness. None of the horrible shit would have happened if she would have done her job as police. That applies for the entire police force. She makes no goddamn sense with any of her decisions and even the case itself is only solved by pure coincidence and then covered up by her to brownwash the actual facts. Danvers does everything to avoid pursuing the case like proper police it's absolutely baffling. Everyone in the show has the emotional stability and resolve of a child and not a single person gets anything right in the key moments when all they had to do was to do their job and follow basic bitch protocol.
@@nl3064nah season 2 is genuinely great on rewatches. It’s from a time when HBO still put effort and care into their productions, and it’s full of excellent acting and direction, despite some flaws. Season 4 is like TV by AI, made cheaply and without any thought. Not even any standout performance. Made to inflame culture war BS as a way to drum up viewership. They clearly didn’t care about quality.
@CircuitRider For maybe the first couple episodes of Season 2, I was thinking "why does everyone hate this so much?", but by the end I was like, "I get it now. I'm done with this shit." By the back half, the season devolves into the most generic primetime cop show you've seen thousands of times. Vince Vaughn (tho not as bad as everyone says) still feels miscast; the shit writing feels recycled from every TNT drama; of course you have to have the peppering of clichéd Hollywood-style shootout scenes; the final episode goes full-cringe daytime soap - I literally burst out laughing at Vince Vaughn's death scene - the whole season was all so predictable and mind-numbing. It's shallow in every single way. 2 even goes to a standard, straightforward, linear format, unlike the first season's three time periods it hops between, which makes season 2 feel even more deflated and flacid by comparison. By the end of season 2 I was bored and exhausted. What part of S2 is "effort" and "care"? It's nothing but a series of stock, off-the-shelf TV drama platitudes, from familiar plot points to generic character archetypes, to the cheesy drama contrivances. Just because it's canned food with a fancy label, doesn't make it any less canned food.
This season is such a mess, but I can’t get over them flashing that copy of Blood Meridian in the first episode and then naming a main character’s dead son ‘Holden’ and her husband ‘Jake’. Like…?
What killed the caribou and how was it related to the story? Who was catfishing Hank? How did the scientist die since the veterinarian specifically said they did not freeze death?
No one was catfishing Hank. A significant number of mail order brides online are just scammers. If you ever try to find a woman like this cut off all contact if she asks for money.
The caribou killed themselves because they realized what series they were in, and nevermind bad CGI, they were convincing, okay? But since they were convincing, and knew which season they were in, they opted out. Who catfished Hank? I did, because I truly respect John Hawkes but I got called in, so that's on me. My bad... The veterinarian....MOTHERFUCKER, QUIT ASKING GOOD QUESTIONS! Issa Lopez is a legend, so, deal with it, you sexist... or whatever. F'real, though. This season was straight dogshit.
In the scene where we watch the scientist holding the hatch down while the others are apparently murdered, a sfx sample is used explicitly sounding like a monster. At this moment I exclaimed 'Oh okay so the polar bear wandered in through the loading bay & attacked the men, who flee outside to escape and eventually die from exposure. I still feel like this was actually what happened, because in the retelling by the native woman matriarch, she chooses her words carefully and says stuff along the lines of 'we told ourselves a different story about what happened'. There is no connective tissue to season one or any other season, this season relates to the others like Ghostbusters 2016 relates to Ghostbusters 1984. While I liked this season, I did find the scene where scientists held down and murdered the girl, to be really confronting. Not because of how graphic it was as a staged murder, but yeah because of how unlikely it seemed that a group of people from their backgrounds could all coincidentally snap and take part in murder on a whim like that. This scene and the consequent murder of the scientists by the towns women felt to me like that moment where writers unconsciously leap from >detective noir< into >OP women are invincible, gross men are evil and its okay to murder them
A polar bear attack would have left bite and claw marks on the scientists. Though I can understand perfectly why you would want to come up with an alternative theory for the ending, considering how dumb the one the show gave was.
@@TheBerylknight the bear clearly didn’t harm the men- they died of exposure, that much is clear more or less early on. What I meant was more along the lines of the bear getting inside the facility and the scientists fleeing from it, into the tundra, where they perished.
Everytime you say “cleaning ladies mafia” you’re making me have to stifle laughter that would surely wake my sleeping husband and son….. You are diabolical, sir. Well played….😂😂😂🤷🏻♀️
13:35 The spiral was a tattoo that Anie had - Clark specifically asked tattoo artist to give him the same one, even send her a photo of Anie with tattoo on her back.
Apparently, all they had to do was ask the cleaning ladies because they self snitched when danvers didn't even have evidence it was them... I can forgive some false leads/pointless plots but this entire show was filled with em. The whole investigation lead no where and has no pay off. I dont mind some parts of the show, but the execution of everything was dumb.
Teo good things about this season: Jodie Foster, and SOME of the cinematography. Which just goes to show that even top-shelf, stellar actors cannot overcome poor writing, which includes senseless, silly, and unrealistic plotlines, stilted and contrived dialogue, and an agenda of promoting a political statement instead of ensuring there is a tight internal story. What do you expect from a writer who only worked in Mexican soap operas (which are melodramatic and over the top and worse than American soaps, which is quite an accomplishment). Even removing it from the True Detective world doesn't fix all that wss wrong with this show. It was a hot mess.
It's crazy how they never tested the scientists' folded clothes for prints lol You find a group of dudes frozen in the Alaskan wilderness with all of their clothes folded neatly nearby and never thought to ask who the fuck folded all their clothes?
It was a meandering series of red herrings and plot holes that led up to a "deus ex machina" finale in order to please the female side of the audience. Seemingly unempowered women finally rising up and shutting down the oppressive patriarchy.
It was a broken mess of a show. The only thing I liked in the show were the Gorgeous Visuals of Alaska being potrayed. In the beginning, I hoped that this season will get better with each episode but I was wrong and this series crashed in the end with senseless twists. So the main point is that this franchise is dead. You can go rewatch S1 and S3 for sure, to pass your time because as said by someone: " Time is a flat circle ".
What if: Danvers’ son died of cancer, and a lot of other kids have died from it too in Ennis. The research team was investigating a possible cure for cancer under the ice, which could save millions. The characters would have to consider the ramifications of their actions. Navarro’s sister is the one that finds the bodies. She’s known to wander, that would potentially introduce conflict within the case, we don’t depend on ghosts to move the plot forward. I have a few other ideas, most of them dealing with removing ghosts from the story.
I gave up on the 4th episode. Literally NOTHING was happening. In TD season 1, you're hooked in the first 20 minutes, and this season can't even compel you by the 4th episode. Also no, it has nothing to do with the leads being female, it just sucks.
I started seeing episode 6 last week and thought it was even shadier then usual, but after I saw your review Ho MY GOD, the stupidity of these "writers" has no end.
Show is utter trash. Plot holes abound. The elusive tunnel is next to the lab is comical. The idea that the suits at HBO signed the director for another season is insane. They are not going to fool the audience one more time. F HBO! Pathetic season! This show sucks and we all had to watch it.
As soon as Jodi Foster said "I hate you" to the guy cop I knew it was going to be one of those kind of shows. This clip saved me at least an hour of my life.
It’s amazing how much unresolved and unnecessary fluff they fit into a short 6 episode series. I almost want to watch it again as a comedy and point out all the nonsense that adds nothing to the story.
You can't write a show it means two things. If the creators had backed up one of their ideas--that there is the supernatural--or that there isn't the show's mediocracy wouldn't have dipped into total ridiculousness. But instead it fell half-way through and became a pile of nothing
Omg I am a Woman and I hate it. I hate it so so much. It’s sooo lazy and bad. There are so many talented people out there. And this shitty writer gets to write a season of this once great crime show on HBO. I just can’t… it works when you do it right. I said on your last part that Mare of Easttown did a great job with that. Winslet was a flawed interesting detective who had a hard time during solving the case. In the end SPOILER the kid of her best friend was responsible, it was an accident, and her friend asks her - please please can you just let it go. Just this once. But she can’t. She has to do her job even if that means seing that kid going to prison. And it breaks her heart. This is what we want to see. This is real and raw. This is such good storytelling. And there especially is one scene in there that shocked me to my core. I still think about it. You just don’t expect it, but then it happens. I just hate Hollywood atm
I had a tough time watching all the way through the finale. Had to do it in 3 parts and kept quitting. I should have stopped after 20 minutes in. Wow though. What a stupid ending.
not that it matteres but the spiral symbol seen throughout the season is a representation of the WHALE SKELETON IN NIGHT COUNTRY. it was said by ROSE that it was VERY OLD OLDER THAN ENNES. THis was the dig site of the spiritual mine. ok so ANNIE K had this as a tatoo because she HAD A DREAM OF IT, the symbol is WHAT ANNIE K DIED UNDER and she HAD A DREAM WHERE SHE DIED. IT was meant to be poetic and supernatural but it came off as completeley retarded because ghosts dont fucking exists in true detective
I confess I never made it to the last episodes. This show lost me from the beginning. An un-engaging premise, shoddy writing, logical holes everywhere, poor acting, incredibly unappealing characters, and just … boring. A complete waste of time. How did this get green-lighted by HBO?
I disagree with the mindset that the viewership was high because people were ok with the show. I argue this similarly to how I argue The Last Jedi. the Last Jedi got the numbers it did because episode 7 and Rogue One were good enough to keep people interested. Then interest tanked after TLJ with Solo and episode 9 because TLJ was so bad. TD Season 4 viewer numbers were high because Season 3 is looked at well enough, especially after how bad Season 2 was received. So people like me went in expecting at least Season 3 good and ended up with Season 2 bad (almost, or maybe I need to watch Season 2 again to make sure).
I feel like Annie's is really stupid and was super avoidable. She was dating one of the scientists and she was able to navigate those ice tunnels and sneak into that underground lab, where she learned about the pollution and the DNA samples and instead of simply taking videos or pictures of the findings and going out to post them on line or stealing files, DNA or pollution samples, or stealing files or copying everything she found on a flashd drive and getting the hell out out of there to expose everything, Annie's brilliant plan is to loudly smash the samples while screaming at the top of her lungs like a idiot and basically attracting all the scientists to where she was resulting in her death. Heck even if the scientists didn't kill her, they could have easily restrained her call the cops to arrest her, bury the story, and the company could have easily had Annie killed in jail and made it look like a random criminal did it. Annie was pretty much doomed to die due to her dumb actions.
_they could have easily restrained her call the cops to arrest her, bury the story, and the company could have easily had Annie killed in jail and made it look like a random criminal did it._ imagine if this had happened, what a good plot and story it would've been. this could be a TD plot.
The warning was there all along. Season 1,2,3 then Night Country. This was an unconnected show with True Detective slapped on for IP recognition. Also residents of Alska know you do NOT put someone with hypothermia in front of a fire. You warm them with your own body heat. Starting a fire when there was multiple vehicles with heaters is so stupid.
Clark died in minutes out in the cold... but that one scientist survived for week for so buried up to his chest naked in the ice??? This show was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo stupid!!!!!!
In season 2 we don't really get closure. In season 3, our man Detective Wayne Hayes figures out what happened to Julie Purcell by the time he's 70 years old. Since he has devastating memory problems he forgets the whole thing. The main people involved in her disappearance and Wills death are never brought to justice. Now with this season the same thing. The scientists were killed for killing Annie Kowtok, so I guess that's justice in a way. But most of the season is them trying to figure out how all those scientists were forced to go out on the ice naked to die, and who made them do it. So once again we find out how it happened and there is no real justice. Rust Cohle did say there is no such thing as closure, but man. Throw us a bone here every once in a while.
Don't forget how in the opening moments of episode one, those scientists who slaughtered that poor native, female, and clearly innocent environmental activist not long ago, were all except Clarke acting like nothing happened, filming on their phones how to make a sandwich, going around opening doors and closing them behind them saying "Hi", or arguing about laundry, as all male renowned scientists do, obviously. This goes to show carefully this season was written and how much attention to detail was given to many other male characters.
The carcosa is waste of an iconic symbol just like the symbol the whitewalkers left with the bodies in Game of Thrones episode one. Waited the whole time to see what it represented and Nada 🤣🤣BTW isnt the tattoo of this 13:00 right??
I don’t get it at all. Being touted as a huge success, garnered its highest first night audience to date and on FB whenever an article about it comes up on my feed everyone is singing its praises in the comments. Feels like I was watching an entirely different show. I can only imagine it was a lot of ppl thinking they were watching season 4 and were actually watching season 1
The thing that frustrated me about the “Carcosa spirals” is that the spiral imagery in season 1 was NOT a fictional invention. The fact that they recontextualize it without the actual criminal meaning is grossly unethical to my lights. :(
I don't think the finale was the worst in TV history but this season was the weakest of the the 4. I agree that all the scientists decided to stab Annie to death and then cover it up was silly...that didn't jive well. Like you said, one going crazy killing Annie is believable but for all of them to take turns was stupid. Clark's behavior wasn't normal for a fact-seeking scientist. I didn't like how the supernatural was heavily implied throughout the series and there was nothing. What killed me was the mystery behind the tongue....who removed it? Another thing that bugged me was the episode where they find Otis and you see Navarro's ear bleeding and she sat there catatonic. Next episode no mention of it.
Hey man, is there any chance that can you do a discography about Hybrid Theory and Meteora albums by Linkin Park? P.S. I really enjoyed your video about Joji's beautiful discography.
Watching the final montage of screenshots of how those actresses are behaving online and how media is talking about the show makes me worried about the intellect of the average person nowadays and what the future has in store for us.
I would have liked the final montage to be MUCH LONGER, actually. Motion in Art let me down on that. That was hilarious!!!!
They are just vocal minority as majority didn't even care for this season
To make it short: they have #dumbed down "True Detective" for a gullible audience....🙄
Don't worry, we've always been dummies
It’s just that’s Kali Rice chick and Lopez, the creator behaving like that. You can expect that of entitled diversity hires.
Jodie Foster, on the other hand, has been a star since childhood and is a consummate professional. You’ll never catch her doing anything like that.
The words "cleaning ladies mafia" is the funniest combination of words I can imagine for true detective 😂😂😂
Who better to clean up the physical evidence of a crime? ...i mean, other than leaving that tongue on the floor
right haha. The world needs a Coen s brothers film with that title.
Old lady gestapo is what I use 😂
To make it short: they have #dumbed down "True Detective" for a gullible audience....🙄
The night the finale aired, I read a comment online that said that and I could not help myself from bursting out in laughter in bed.
Oh, hi Mark!
They just signed her on to do season 5 and apparently this was the most watched season so far. We're doomed.
I have not finished it yet but I am enjoying it. I think people just like to complain on the internet
the finale reminded me of the Lethal Weapon movie they made on Always Sunny
It was horrible; horrible writing, horrible dialogue, horrible directing, horrible acting.
Agree. I struggled to keep going ... it was terrible.
To be fair, there was nothing wrong with the acting itself for the most part. Some of the actors were underused or not given much to work on, but other than that it was fine. Everything else however, was just bad. Like, BAD bad.
Horrible acting?? You're an idiot that loved the tv show Friends
@@Furcapper Yeah the acting was fine for the most part. The script was horrendous which tends to make every other element of the show worse. How this season currently 'earned' 81 on Metacritic just blows my mind. It surely will not age well.
Amen

Worst polar bear payoff since Lost
What was wrong with the polar bear payoff in Lost?
@@dr.candlepun because you have a polar bear on a tropical island?
@@puma59graciefighter That's the set-up... The payoff is when it's revealed why it's there. My question was, what was wrong with the payoff...
(Granted, this does seem largely pointless in a RUclips comment section, where things seem so easily misread as hostile, lol.)
I honestly wasn't sure if your dislike for the payoff was based on a misconception or if you truly didn't like the _actual_ payoff (which would be a perfectly valid opinion, even if I don't share it). Which is why I asked; I was genuinely curious.
Sorry for bothering you. Namaste.
People with brains know that season 4 sucks. All the others are just hypnotized by Navarro's cheek piercings.

To make it short: they have #dumbed down "True Detective" for a gullible audience....🙄
What a disaster. The CGI was so bad too. Every plot line was silly. So bad. "The Unknown Monster" so cheap and shitty.
This is sad to hear... about Issa Lopez coming back, another IP down the drains.
You put way too much thought into it😂
Lopez got the new deal because of the high ratings.
My prediction is that the ratings are going to take a significant dip next season.
here's another excellent show with leading women:
Expats.
a 6 ep miniseries on Prime. Outstanding drama.
I'll never waste my time on anything that Issa Lopez is involved in ever again. I try to learn from my mistakes.
This is where Annie Wilkes would accuse the writers of "cheating."
I'd write more, but I just finished pooping and have to go back to work now.

S02, quality-wise and on its own, was incredible, one of the best endings too. The only sin it committed was being labeled as a follow-up to that impossibly meticulous first season.
Exactly. I was shocked at episode 1, then from ep2 onward, I was watching to see how bad it would get. I never expected to end up as bad as it did 😂
For a true detectives story, these have to be the absolute worst detectives that I have ever seen in the show.
True Detective: Nothing Hapens
@@cardboard2night It'll prove to be a false bump. There's no real interest
1899 was okay, but very convoluted. I feel like it needed another round of editing to make the story flow better.
Because if HBO pulled the rug on Lopez after this season, it would appear they were siding against feminism, which is not allowed in Hollywood

@@nl3064nah season 2 is genuinely great on rewatches. It’s from a time when HBO still put effort and care into their productions, and it’s full of excellent acting and direction, despite some flaws.

It's crazy how they never tested the scientists' folded clothes for prints lol
You find a group of dudes frozen in the Alaskan wilderness with all of their clothes folded neatly nearby and never thought to ask who the fuck folded all their clothes?
It was a meandering series of red herrings and plot holes that led up to a "deus ex machina" finale in order to please the female side of the audience. Seemingly unempowered women finally rising up and shutting down the oppressive patriarchy.

Danvers’ son died of cancer, and a lot of other kids have died from it too in Ennis.

You can't write a show it means two things. If the creators had backed up one of their ideas--that there is the supernatural--or that there isn't the show's mediocracy wouldn't have dipped into total ridiculousness. But instead it fell half-way through and became a pile of nothing
It was an idiotic half measure
That stabbing scene was just ludicrous
Lololol
Did anybody else thought after the first 2-3 Episodes that Rust would make an Appearance in this Season?
I was half hoping he would but glad he didn’t
It was awful. When that stupid cop got trapped in the room with a glass door she actually put her gun away to bash it with a stick. Ridiculous!!!
My eyes rolled so far back at the ending that I literally watched myself have an aneurysm from the cringe.
LOL
I watched only season 1. Looks like I've dodged a bullet.
You sure did.
But maybe add season 3 to a watch
This was phenomenal. Well done.
❤️
IT was meant to be poetic and supernatural but it came off as completeley retarded because ghosts dont fucking exists in true detective
i stopped watching after 4 episodes... it sucked...
Not worse than season 2
uh... yes it is... @@kisamelives7307
Ideology hinders creativity. It's a shame.
Agreed
I confess I never made it to the last episodes. This show lost me from the beginning. An un-engaging premise, shoddy writing, logical holes everywhere, poor acting, incredibly unappealing characters, and just … boring. A complete waste of time. How did this get green-lighted by HBO?
I have no clue either
_they could have easily restrained her call the cops to arrest her, bury the story, and the company could have easily had Annie killed in jail and made it look like a random criminal did it._
imagine if this had happened, what a good plot and story it would've been. this could be a TD plot.
@@OutlawSoul Right. And I'm just a random person and I came up with a better idea for a plot then these paid writers.
What's up with the Black chick's cheek piercings? Is that explained?
Shes a girl boss. Don't question it. (Idk but it looks terrible and she has a resting B face)
lol
The warning was there all along. Season 1,2,3 then Night Country. This was an unconnected show with True Detective slapped on for IP recognition. Also residents of Alska know you do NOT put someone with hypothermia in front of a fire. You warm them with your own body heat. Starting a fire when there was multiple vehicles with heaters is so stupid.
As soon as I saw the cleaning ladies scene I couldn’t stop laughing 😂😂😂
Lololol
Clark died in minutes out in the cold... but that one scientist survived for week for so buried up to his chest naked in the ice??? This show was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo stupid!!!!!!
I taped out since 1st episode. Love you, Jodie
lol
the avengers assemble moment with all the cleaning ladies had me checking tf out

Feminism is killing entertainment and storytelling in tv and movies
🎯 Every where. Some of us can’t admit, The clear as day truth! 😮

Whole thing was a joke. What is that rotten tomato critic score about? Any faith in their scoring system is gone !
I despise their ratings system
All the questions without answers in this video remind me of a video RedLetterMedia once did in response to Prometheus.
The men that were dead before frozen were so spooked that they scare died. That was acceptable. But everything was really disappointed
i fucking HATED the finale
Lololol
Ear phones don't work when you press them in too much
Lololololol
What are we, some kind of… True Detectives?
Hahahahahahah
There's EXPLICITLY a ghost in the first or second episode.
Easily
Hey man, is there any chance that can you do a discography about Hybrid Theory and Meteora albums by Linkin Park?
P.S. I really enjoyed your video about Joji's beautiful discography.
At 100K subs I’ll have a look
