  • 1995 Charvel San Dimas I 24 fret Super Strat built in the Jackson Guitars USA Custom Shop at the Ontario, California (So Cal) factory prior to Fender buying both brands in 2002. This rare guitar features a birdseye one-piece maple neck, African Mahogany body, gold German-built Original Floyd Rose tremolo and custom USA Dimarzio humbuckers. This was a limited edition special run built in 1995 as a one-off reissue of the San Dimas era Charvel super strats that made the brand famous.
    The Charvel San Dimas I is part of the Charvel San Dimas Series that was made in the USA. It had an optional Hawaiian Koa or Australian Lacewood or African Mahogany body with an HH pickup configuration. The humbuckers are custom DiMarzio humbuckers. The guitar has a hand rubbed oil finish.

    That's crazy I literally just walked in from my shop where I just did the finish sanding on a guitar I just finished that looks almost exactly like this one, the only differences are a birds eye maple fingerboard with claro walnut inlay dots, JB/Jazz pickups instead of DiMarzio's and Start style body contours but everything else is the same. That is a gorgeous Charvel, those are the greatest electric guitars ever produced in my opinion. I was building a copy of Dave Murray's black and white Strat but I used a one piece mahogany body blank to make the body and it's way to nice to cover up with paint so I'll have to build another one out of ash or alder. I dig your channel you have some amazing guitars!

    I find the nomenclature of this model quite curious: "San Dimas" is usually associated to a Strat body replica, whereas this one clearly resembles the shape of a Dinky, meaning a non-neck-through Jackson Soloist. Maybe the name "San Dimas" used to be assigned differently prior to the Fender buy-out.
    The smaller the production is, the easier it is for the manufacturer to make exceptions and try out new things within their line-ups.
    If anyone can shed more light on this, I'd be curious to know.

      I think it's purely a name they chose based on the heritage of where the brand came from

  • @AdrianFarrell
    @AdrianFarrell 2 года назад +1

    Surely that's a Dinky body shape rather than a San Dimas? Or were naming conventions different back then?

      There had not been a USA made Charvel branded guitar for about a decade at this point, so I think the "San Dimas" name was a throwback to where the last USA Charvels were built

    Hi Keith, Alex from Charvel/Jackson group here. I was a bit curious to see your appearance but a bit surprised to hear that you have an American(or Canadian?) accent. Are you saying that you immigrated to UK 9 years ago? Nice Charvel btw!

      Hey Alex! Yes I'm American and moved over to the Big Smoke 9 years ago and now reside in Southend-on-Sea where the studio is about 45 minutes outside of London 🤘

      True, Charvel started out as a furniture company making guitars in "kitchen table" butcher block form before getting into proper solid body building
