- It feels like yesterday that we just got our first Charvel Custom Shop Natural Series guitars in...actually no it doesn't. It's been a really long time! Join us as Zoo owner Tommy Colletti tells the story of how the beloved Charvel Natural Series guitars came to happen. We talk about the Fender acquisition of Charvel, Tommy's history as a teacher and what he looked for in a guitar, and what makes these oil-finished Charvel guitars so special.

I’m lucky to have two of these guitars. One I purchased new from MZ and another I picked second hand. They are amazing instruments! The necks on both of mine are unbelievable. I’ve never felt or had anything quite like them. Awesome job MZ! Seriously!
There are no denying TOMMY COLLETTI of TMZ is thee person that brought back the old school Charvel
feel,look and tone into production! The Natrual series, The NItro aged series and masterbuilt aged series are the
very best for the old school Charvel vibe. I still think it is what inspired Grover Jackson to do the "Legacy" series!
The Legacy series is another if you want a time machine Charvel and cannot find a old original.
Back in 2008, I emailed Michael Charvel from Wayne Guitars asking to make a guitar like this one, in mahogany body, for me. He said yes, but because I wanted this iconic strat headsock shape and he told me that they cannot do this because it is trade mark (I didn't knew that), I gave up then. Few days later , I saw on your website this guitars and then
I bought (from your website) two of these guitars: one in mahogany body and another one in koa wood body, both loaded with Floyd Rose trem and HS configuration. They are really great guitars with a wonderful necks shape that makes me very happy and joyful everytime I play it. Thank you, Tommy & Music Zoo & Mr. Mike Shannon for bring these to life. Dude, I never knew these existed until just now, awesome! I just acquired a Charvel 2018 style 1 hh fr natural ash to go along with a set of hard tails, a style 1 and 2 hh ht natural ash, both have Hipshot bridges. I'm on the lookout for a style 2 with Floyd Rose in natural ash to complete the set. I'm definitely checking online. I feel like a dummy, I just discovered the 2018 naturals last year! I was fortunate enough to score a NOS 2008 Charvel 2H Natural with a V-trem in mint unplayed condition
from a online music store a few years back for a great price. Needless to say Charvel nailed the old neck shape
and having no paint or clear coat the guitar just rings like a bell. it is real simple one volume knob and a 3 way toggle,
Seymour duncan Custom-5 and a 59 in the neck. Charvel did a amazing job with these!
Having owned a 1982 san dimas strat head i can attest these have that same mojo of the old originals.
Tommy! It's Pete from Rocktronix. I'm down in Maryland now, via Clearwater, Florida. Way out in the sticks. Absolutely nobody to play with on a regular basis, so I'm basically retired. Anyway, nice to see you doing so well after all these years.
I got one of the redwood with a roasted flame maple neck almost 11 years ago to the day. It's funny that you mentioned the "holes" in them. Mine has a worm hole right in the center of the body between the pickups. It is without a doubt the loudest electric I have ever heard acoustically. A friend of mine once said that it sounds like it "sings" on certain notes.
there were a few with insane holes in them you could see right through. AWESOME guitars. thats rad you still have it!
they need to make an affordable version of this. doesn't have to be koa, and aberlon, but the HS set u with natural wood is what i'm looking for. not for effectively £4000 after import. gorgeous guitar though - simple. i’ve just found an sc1 superstock and bought that. not as pretty as this one though.
You should do another run! It’s been what 17 years now since these were released? Amazing guitars. Wasn’t fortunate enough to snag one back then

I have an original Wayne (Wayne Charvel). It is an amazing guitar. Mine is about 20 years old. It was made long before the massive fire took his home, his shop he and Mike Charvel would build the guitars, and all the wood and other materials were all lost. Amazing guitar!!!!🤘😎🤘

Stainless steel frets?
No nickle silver like the originals but the Charvel custom shop offers SS frets and i believe there are a few newer production models now

It's a nice guitar!!! But it looks way too "Plain Jane" to me!!!! Charvel guitars should have custom hot rod like paint jobs!!!! Stripes, flames, tiger stripes, checkers, polk a dots, fluorescent colors,bright color schemes, skulls, naked ladies etc.!!!!!😁😁😁😁😄😁😄 Then it's a REAL Charvel!!!!! LOL!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
