Lol … Air India refunding is like dream that rarely comes true.. my husband booked flights from during Covid. His flights got canceled but never got refund.
I also had a bad experience on Air India too. Flew the airline with my family from San Francisco, U.S.A. to Hyderabad via Delhi. Usually every time I go to India, we always fly on Singapore Airlines since they are one of the best airlines in the world. But, when we were buying the tickets, there were no Singapore Airlines Flights available which is terrible, not even other best airlines like Emirates and Qatar Airways. Only two airlines were available to fly to Hyderabad, British Airways and Air India. The travel agency doesn’t sell British Airways tickets which means the only airline to fly on was Air India which was rather disappointing. The Video Screen wasn’t working for me either, the food was so bad that I even got sick too and decided to skip most of the meals, customer service was not very helpful when we called them, one of the cabin crew has no common sense as he hit my head so hard with the food trolley while I was sleeping in the flight, the cabin crew keeps on talking to us in Hindi instead of English as we don’t know Hindi. When we arrived back in San Francisco, I was so happy the flight was finally over and me and my family decided to never take Air India flights ever again even though Tata bought the airline.
The food looks pathetic. Did u get refund for downgrade ? My anxiety would peak if I saw broken hand rests and dirty seats because if they can’t maintain those properly which people can see what about engines etc ? Do they even do flight maintenance
I can share my experience with air india aswell, i recently flew with them a month ago, everything she says just about matches up. When we were to take our seat, someone had threw up on the seat and they hadnt cleaned it up so it got on our fingers. The food was super hot which the children couldnt eat, it seemed like the plane was gonna fall apart, they couldnt care to clean up the airplane after a flight!
Whenever I fly to India, most of the time, I fly with Singapore Airlines. Their staff is so friendly and most of their flights are on time. Their food is better than AI. I highly recommend you fly this airline in the future.
I recently travelled with them after 5 years and it was a completely different experience than last time,I think u should give them one more chance, Moreover not travelled to Canada but still i think taking flight to Toronto by Air Canada would be much better and then any domestic airlines to Vancouver.
I agree, Air Canada used to have direct Vancouver to Delhi and I loved it. When they suspended that route, I thought I would give Air India a chance. I guess I’ll do the Toronto route next time

This can happen ONLY in Air India where the cabin crew are supreme and treat ALL passengers very badly. I flew Delhi to New York direct and the plane was mostly empty. The food was aloo parathas with dahi and pickle with gulab jamun for desert. The toilets were stinky and dirty. Air India is BAD so never again make this mistake.

We were flying from London. We selected Non veg meal. The cabin crew told, will get you in few minutes. After half an hour they came back and told, Sorry sir, non veg meals over. Then we told its ok, get a veg meal. After half an hour they came back and told, sorry sir ,no veg meal too, I promise to give you non veg meal tomorrow morning.. This is After paying £5000 for 3 of us, on a leaking aircraft, no infotainment system, broken arm rests , shabby seats ... I think we should boycott Airindia
Did they gave you the refund on downgrade and letter of apology? Other airline would have given you full refund and some convenience (such as voucher for next flight).
Air India was just bought by Tata, just wait for a few years, you will get the best service in Air India when it improves. Their B777-200LR and A350-900 was the best experience.
I flew business class this weekend from Amritsar to London. Although the plane itself was old and broken the staff were nice and service good. The business class food was tasty as well.

I was on a tight budget to go to new york and I was travelling with 5 other friends so I could not book on Emirates or Qatar, so I had to go with Air India as it was the cheapest option. Same problems, the seatback screen didn't work properly, the armrest was broken, and the food served was stale and worst of all, the cabin crew yelled at us for requesting some water. I felt that Ryanair was better than Air India. In my 2023 experience, It was the best. The cabin crew were generous to the passengers and we had the best experience as the seat was very comfortable and they even gave us food which tasted so good.
next time just fly on a European airline or an American airline, you might get a stopover but it’s better than nothing, and by nothing I refer to air India.
Air India is the worst airline, mine was a on a Boeing 777-200LR (not leased from delta) The screen didn’t work, the plane smelt weird, long delay, food was bad, dirty cabin and the crew didn’t give us food for 6 hours! A Middle East airline, like Qatar, Etihad, Emirates, Gulf air, Saudia are better. Also others like United, American British Airways also fly to India.

They only gave me a partial refund, it didn’t cover the entire difference between economy and business seat
