I looked around and saw actually apart from 2-3 seats nearly every display was broken. But what I found even more shocking was I was only one complaining about this! I took my Daughters to India. The police at customs where armed & signs on the walls said something to the effect of 'REPORT STAFF WHO ASK FOR BRIBES' 15 minutes before boarding an armed Customs person forced me to go out the back with him, leaving my Daughters. I had the foresight to photograph the sign as we went, after 10 minutes in the back he let me go. I was actually terrified. On the flight a group of Korean teenagers told us they'd been forced to pay $350 each after the same treatment. I felt I'd avoided terror leaving India. There is SERIOUS corruption still.

All those wear-and-tear defects, grime, pen marks and other physical problems with the seat/space itself (including gadgetry issues) severely diminished any interest I might have in booking a flight with India Air, but none of that was a deal-breaker, even all of it combined. But an airline that doesn't want/allow me to flush my pajamas down the toilet has crossed the line. That's simply unacceptable, not what I expect from a decent airline. They should stick to economy for the entire airline and not operate business and first class, but yet, they still offer business and first class and charge FIRST class prices for rubbish and disgusting service. There is NO excuse for intentionally charging people thousands of dollars (knowing they cannot provide these services) and allowing them to sit in a broken seat that hasn't been properly cleaned. People pay ALOT of $$$ to have these extra services and if they don't provide them, they are scamming you and ripping you off. It can also be classed as false advertising. I didn't realize until much later that there was a second, much nicer business lounge (no concierge to tell me anything), that had real AC instead of fan. The airplane was double decker 747, and my business class seat was on the upper floor - I was just a young business traveler and it felt prestige to be up on the 2nd floor, where about 30 of us had 2 dedicated flight attendants, giving us anything at any time. The seats and plane were not new even then. I even got a portable DVD player for my movies. Very old school stuff, but the service was excellent.

There is a lot of propaganda in youtube these days against China, IndiaActually India is the fastest growing economic power currently earlier it was China!!!
Poverty is currently shrinking rapidly as more and more Indians are entering middle class category!
India has the fastest growing middle class and currently India is in its transition phase something which China faced in 1990s, South Korea in 1970s!

Hi Paul 👋. Nice comprehensive and objective review, as usual! Your "buttermilk" experience brought back a funny memory to me. As a child, I saw an advertisement about a "new and delicious buttermilk" on TV. I was so entranced by how wonderful it looked that I begged my mother to buy some for me and my sister. She tried to tell us that we probably wouldn't like it as it would taste sour to us. Naturally, we still wanted this new beverage. Of course, as soon as we tasted it we had a reaction similar to yours. However, buttermilk is a great marinade for chicken and is delicious in making biscuits(sort of like but not scones for you Brits). I applaud you for your willingness to try new foods and beverages. It is one of the benefits of traveling to different countries and learning to appreciate something that you are not familiar with.

Patriotism only lasts as long as the aircraft is clean, decent food, courteous cabin crew and punctuality Air India appears to have failed on three counts The cabin crew are the only redeeming factor..so it appears!

I flew Air India from London to Malta in 1978 with a couple of friends. The plane only had about a dozen people on board. It was a night flight returning to india with a few stop offs on the way. Don't remember the flight much as we were full of booze and crashed out shortly after takeoff. The interior was a bit shabby but the flight was dirt cheap. Happy days.

"crashed out shortly after takeoff" is not a sentence anyone would like to hear. LMAO.

Bit of an odd experience, I admit I would not be too happy paying all that money for such poor conditions. Can you tell me Paul, I notice you tap your ticket on the door frame as you enter the plane, is there any specific reason?

You are lucky that your seat didnt have not stains ...
When I used Air India a few years ago, most seats had brown stains (you know what I mean) and stank so bad.
I was the only forienger in that plane and not even a one passenger complained about the seats and didn't mind to sit on them
I don't think people their wipe at all

Yet Tatas( the owners now of air India) have been cutting hard working cabin and cockpit crews' salaries and filling management's pockets, bravo tata, bravo 👏

First part of this video really made me laugh. Thank you. Second part of the video made me say to myself. I will never take that airline.

Even after the entire upgradation? I think you should see the new cabin video. This airline has been neglected by its previous owner for DECADES. Not even a surprise that nothing is working. The new owners are gradually fixing it, it's a MASSIVE task. The first plane with an entirely new cabin of AI comes out in 2024.....till 2026 you will see some of these with crap cabins after which only new cabin ones would exist.

Nice one, Paul. The look on your face, of sheer and absolute consternation when tasting the buttermilk (09:58 - 10:00) was just hilarious! Even more so when you reported that you powered your way through it and gave a very favourable report to the crew! I'd definitely have tried to sneak it into the washroom and dispose of it there, before your "act of diplomacy"!

Air India is *THE* worst airline in India. They are Govt run, and that's why so shitty. Indian Govt is a lumbering inefficient geriatric giant. Everything is slow, outdated and lousy.
The Govt knows the sad state of Air India and has been trying to privatise it. But it has gigantic debts that makes it really poisonous for any investor.

I don't understand why you'd go to India in the first place. This is literally the LAST country I'd visit on the planet... I'd happily go to NK before going to India...

People even fellow Indians criticise the aircraft that's totally alright, but shaming the whole country in the name of criticism, this is the level you guys stoop to. Please never come to India, it doesn't want to be welcomed by people like you! NK is free and happy please visit if possible get a PR there, that would be lovely :)

Did you even visit India even once? Idk what makes you hate this country so much. But certainly it isn't worst country to visit for tourists

    • @turmat01
      @turmat01 10 месяцев назад

no I did not. I though I had been clear enough that I'm never ever setting foot in that filthy country. Why do I hate India? 1) The filth. 2) It's the land of scammers. 3) The weird diseases. I could probably keep going all day long. India is, again, the LAST country I'd visit on earth. I have absolutely zero intentions of EVER setting foot in that country. If I ever plan a trip somewhere and there is so much as a 1 hour layover in india, I'm cancelling my trip. Do you get it now? I'm NOT going to India. Ever. I'd rather die than visit this country.
