Chasing Off-Roaders at the Most Western Tip of Oahu // Mountain Biking Ka'ena Point!

I knew I had to make my last ride in Oahu a memorable one. So, I took the scenic drive over to the western side of the island and prepared to make the ride out to Ka'ena Point. I launched from the northern trailhead. Along this route you get miles of mountain views to your left and ocean views to the right.
There's not a ton of climbing or descending here as the elevation change is only about 250 feet. But what this place lacks in elevation, it more then makes up for in spectacular views.
This is also a popular spot for 4x4s and off roaders. It was a unique experience sharing the trail with lifted 4x4s and chasing down off road enthusiasts. Just be sure to keep a safe distance.
Along the way I stopped to take in the lava coastline views and admire the tide pools and crashing waves , Then i made my way to the bird sanctuary; a stretch of fenced in area along the coastline that prevents predators from hunting the endangered albatross that live there.
After a few miles of riding and a bit of hike a bike due to sand pits, I finally made it out to the tower and the lookout on the actual point. It's the most western tip of the island and it's where the northern and western shores meet.
Overall, it was an amazing ride and I would have to say it takes the title as the most scenic ride I've been on to date.

The wife and I used to do the around the island trip in our 95 Pathfinder. Once we hit KP we’d off road around the point.. That was until the truck trail collapsed separating the west from the north.. Leaving the transition only by foot over foot trails…

@Chenzo's World are you from Hawaii... Im from Guam, but visit Hawaii pretty often...and I'm exploring to ride one day a real bike trail and hauling my bike to the mainland just seems a bit harder. So I decided to check if Hawaii had trails and came across you video and a couple others. On Guam we have nothing compared to what I've seen in the MTB videos of Hawaii.. we mainly ride jeep trails here and one other one in the northern part of Guam.

Looks almost like the Scottish Highlands, all that’s missing is the clouds, rain, and cold. I’ve been in Oahu all this month, but I’ve been riding on the other side of the island, hopefully I’ll get a chance to ride up at Ka’ena.

It’s definitely a beautiful place to ride. My favorite trails were on the eastern side. Ohana trail was rad. I miss those trails. Hope you have a great time out there! Enjoy 😎🤟
