Napier Truck Tent FULL USER review/ Is this the Best Budget Tent option for Camping and Overlanding?

  • Ive been camping in the Napier Backroadz Truck tent for the past two and a half years now and I can't say that I've gone easy on it.
    I spend a lot of my time camping during the low seasoning and during adverse weather conditions. Often times other campers are less willing to camp during a rainstorm, a high wind advisory or in sub-freezing temperatures. this gives me more options for campsites and also allows me to test myself as well as my gear.
    so, far the Napier truck tent has taken everything that I and Mother Nature have thrown at it. most of all, this tent has proven to be a great value for both overloading and casual weekend camping.
    In this video, I discuss my list of pros and cons associated with owning this tent and I also briefly discuss alternative camping and overlanding options.
    Before purchasing an overpriced roof top tent or a pricey truckbed topper, I would strongly suggest considering this tent. If you're looking for a great budget option for overlanding, or if you just want a convenient way to camp without breaking the bank, you've definitely clicked on the right review.
    Thanks for watching and feel free to stick around and subscribe so you don't miss out on the next adventure. As always, stay stoked and I'll see you in the next one!

    Carbon monoxide detector should be low to the ground, at least below your airway as it fills spaces from the bottom up. Cheers.

    I use a Napier Sportz tent. I noticed the same scratching issue in the wind. My solution was a section of pool noodle over the pole sections that contact my truck.

    Had my truck tent two years and first time setting up I noticed how much stress was on the fiber poles so I ordered aluminum poles that are two inches shorter and made a huge difference.

    I bought 1 a few yrs ago cuz gas prices made pulling the camper really expensive. I have a diesel heater I bought for the camper and found it works great with the tent also. It sits outside under the tailgate so it's out of the way. You should check it out it's so much nicer than a heater buddy.

    What you can do is unhook and slide the tent out of your truck bed and leave it at your campsite if possible. This way you are not stuck at your site and are able to still use your truck, and it literally takes seconds to pop back in. Of coarse you have to leave it behind, but people leave ground tents behind at their sites all the time.

    Does the air mattress push against the wheel wells? I thought a queen size would be too big for a truck bed.

    • @ChenzosWorld
      @ChenzosWorld  8 дней назад

      @@JLock-YT no. Mine fit snug. But I didn’t have to squeeze it in there. It was a nice fit if you ask me. I eventually switched to a twin sized cot though to have a bit of leg room and it has a better R value for cold camping

    Great flick and setup. My truck (ram rebel) has a 5'7" bed. Should I purchase the 6' tent to accomodate the tailgate being down or is that taken into account with the 5'5" tent. Any other recommendations? Thx for your time.

    • @ChenzosWorld

    What is the tarp that you have over your tailgate? I see it there before you set up the tent and when you are driving down the road.

    • @ChenzosWorld

      It’s a tailgate pad. I use it to transport my mountain bike. It’s called the Yakima Gatekeeper and I made video review on it if you want a closer look. 👍

      Waterproof in my experience. As long as I’ve got the rainfly up I’ve never gotten water on the inside

    • @ALTsapiens
      @ALTsapiens 20 дней назад +2

      Mine did leak at the back where water was gathering. I noticed a similar pattern on a video review on Amazon where the user had let the material make pouches inward.. where water can settle it will eventually ooze through. That being said the amount of leakage I got was pretty minimal considering the length and quantity of the rain I got... Dripped a little on my head and soaked a pillow. Easily solved if I had thrown a tarp over the tent or otherwise covered the back end.

    wish I could just have a "box" in my truckbed.. like a wedge pop up.. without having to put a halfrack or roofrack and everything on it..
    yea you'd lose out on some functionality of the bed, but gain some convenience.. just find it a bit weird that there aren't options like that. For just a simple 1 person pop up tent that fits in the back of a truck.
    EIther way, ordered this tent, cause I found it on the cheap. + a handful of large microfibre towels to put underneath the straps to try and protect the paint a bit.. wish there was a better way of securing the tent.

    • @ChenzosWorld
      @ChenzosWorld  2 месяца назад

      @@PilotPhteven I’ve found an option that might almost fit that bill. Over the summer I installed a roof rack to haul kayaks. That means I could no longer use the Napier truck bed tent. I found a tent on Amazon that fits the exact length dimensions of my truck bed and sets up only using two poles. It also matches the exact dimensions of my cot. When setup it essentially becomes a cot tent. Setup is easy and I don’t have to stake it down. I’m doing a review on it this week and I’ll drop a link if it interests you

    • @ChenzosWorld
      @ChenzosWorld  3 месяца назад

      Essentially it’s off-roading and dispersed camping combined. Atleast that’s how I understand it. Overlanders usually take the path less travelled to access remote campsites.
