My dad and I bought one for his truck and we are going to fish and camp this year. Loved your review! I just bought this tent and your review really helps setting it up for the first time. Some things which have changed on the newer version of this tent: 1. The front pole is now gray and the center beam pole is green. Of course they stayed with the color coded anchor pockets all around. 2. The best change, in my opinion, is the tent now comes with privacy doors on both side windows. Very nice for when you won’t be using the rain fly. My initial impression of this tent, it’s heavier and the materials used are a bit thicker than my ground tent. This to me is preferable.. your going by truck, weight is not my primary concern when it means I potentially could have a stronger tent. Cant wait to get it out to use it.
Thanks for the update on the newer tent. I like the privacy covers without the rain fly that is a great update they did. I was not aware until you told me. We use a foldable mattress and it works great. Thanks for the comment and enjoy the tent.
I have been pushing the truck bed tent thing around for quite awhile and after seeing you slide yours out to use your truck, I was sold. i like a camper but it takes up space in the yard and I pull a boat most times when I camping. I will be buying one very soon. Thank you for this review.
I love my Napier tent. Thank you for the tip for the rainfly as I have struggled putting it on by myself, will definitely try your suggestion next trip.
Just watched your video. This is the best review of this Napier truck tent that I have viewed. Great job. I don't have a truck but I'm trying to figure out if I can adapt this tent to my 5'x10' utility trailer. Most of the dimensions seem to be close if not exact. If these can be configured to work on utility trailers, it would greatly expand their usability. Thanks for a well thought out video.
The two advantages I see over a ground tent with this setup is: wet ground, and snake/crawling crittters. Two advantages of this setup over a RTT is price and weight. With that though, I am dialed with a hard top RTT that is set up in less than a minute, and closed back up in less than five. All while leaving all bedding/pillows inside. Also wind and rain proof and a solid 3 season tent, with a 4th season (winter) being a tougher one that requires a few more items to keep ya warm. Yes it is heavier at 140lbs, and over $3500, but I'd be two beers down and halfway through a fresh grilled burger by the time I got this Napier tent setup. I would have the Napier in a heartbeat in my younger, more broke years if only it was invented back then. Good show, bud.
Thanks for the comment. We have an RV as well but use this in cooler months just to get to nature and out of crowded camp grounds. Nice chance of scenery.
