    My dad and I bought one for his truck and we are going to fish and camp this year. We put it up in minutes and camped in it with his battery and heater and did ice fishing and it was shockingly warm with our winter gear and even if the tent was for spring and summer and fall we had to try it since we got it for christmas and did great.

      What do you do with the ends of the poles ?? Do they clip into anything inside the truck bed, or do they just kind of dangle there?

  • @Guitarsdetectors
    @Guitarsdetectors 3 года назад +7

    Loved your review! I just bought this tent and your review really helps setting it up for the first time. Some things which have changed on the newer version of this tent:
    1. The front pole is now gray and the center beam pole is green. Of course they stayed with the color coded anchor pockets all around.
    2. The best change, in my opinion, is the tent now comes with privacy doors on both side windows. Very nice for when you won’t be using the rain fly.
    My initial impression of this tent, it’s heavier and the materials used are a bit thicker than my ground tent. This to me is preferable.. your going by truck, weight is not my primary concern when it means I potentially could have a stronger tent. Cant wait to get it out to use it.

    • @waterandlandadventures4319
      @waterandlandadventures4319  3 года назад

      Thanks for the update on the newer tent. I like the privacy covers without the rain fly that is a great update they did. I was not aware until you told me. We use a foldable mattress and it works great. Thanks for the comment and enjoy the tent.

    Just watched your video. This is the best review of this Napier truck tent that I have viewed. Great job. I don't have a truck but I'm trying to figure out if I can adapt this tent to my 5'x10' utility trailer. Most of the dimensions seem to be close if not exact. If these can be configured to work on utility trailers, it would greatly expand their usability. Thanks for a well thought out video.

    The two advantages I see over a ground tent with this setup is: wet ground, and snake/crawling crittters. Two advantages of this setup over a RTT is price and weight. With that though, I am dialed with a hard top RTT that is set up in less than a minute, and closed back up in less than five. All while leaving all bedding/pillows inside. Also wind and rain proof and a solid 3 season tent, with a 4th season (winter) being a tougher one that requires a few more items to keep ya warm. Yes it is heavier at 140lbs, and over $3500, but I'd be two beers down and halfway through a fresh grilled burger by the time I got this Napier tent setup.
    I would have the Napier in a heartbeat in my younger, more broke years if only it was invented back then. Good show, bud.

    Thanks for this review. I'd seen a lot of tents on Amazon, and many have drawbacks like not enough venting leading to uncomfortable breathing or condensation. I'd kind of settled on this one but your review cinches it, especially how easy it is to take out intact if you want to go somewhere, my normal camping spot I drive around most days and it's good that I can just lift the tent out then put it back when I return.

    Have you seen anyone use this tent with a roll up tonneau cover? I've seen on the company website that you can install WITH a toolbox or a rollup tonneau cover IF the height of the rolled up cover isn't above 6 inches. My tonneau roll is probably 8 inches high when rolled up and clipped. Is the risk with trying to install with something taller than 6 inches that there will be a big gap that rainwater can get into the bed of the truck or are there other concerns? I was thinking if it can be installed with a toolbox that a rolled up tonneau cover wouldn't be that much worse. Thanks for the vid. This is the best assembly vid that I've seen.

    Hi new friend. Found you on the community support Facebook page. Very cool how you can set up right in the bed of the truck. And getting it off looks so easy. Thanks for sharing. We've got some videos you might enjoy. Hope you can check us out.

    These tents aren't any good. I set mine up and when going home on the Interstate it blew off.

    Only an American would say the second thing he brings with him after a phone is a hand gun and a rifle when camping in a tent

      Definitely a gun in a tent well hell I have a gun everywhere.

      Granted, i can be quite impatient when on the phone with 911 ( IF there is a cell connection ! ) as i request someone to bring a gun to my location, and ASAP ! Here in the West, IF a cell phone works, a LEO's response time can be as little as 45 minutes to as much as 3 hrs, normally.
      I know not what course others may take as to accepting responsibility for their safety, but for me, i accept responsibility for my safety, and my safety alone ...

      @@fjb4932 exactly. No time to wait in emergency. You will be a fool to approach anyone in a tent in the woods. I bet you anything in Georgia whoever in that tent is packing and will use. Cops will be called just go get body.
