hey to you reading this 😊 whatever brings you here, whether it's to fall asleep or to relax from something stressful, i just wanted to let you know that everything will be fine. If you're going through a hard time right now, it's okay to remind yourself that this is temporary, and there are many good and relaxing days to come. You are an amazing person and the world is lucky to have someone like you in it. I hope only good things, love and strength will come your way. :)
This was amazing to watch thank you for sharing. It will be my first time camping in the truck bed and I'm very excited even after watching this video your persistence and patience really inspired me. Keep up the good work! And your dog was adorable!!!
Thank you so very much! I truly appreciate you watching and reaching out! Truck bed camping is so much fun, even if the weather doesn’t want to play nice! Please let me know how you like it!
Screw the tent flies which sometimes are dry but not always. I always carry a 11 by 14 tarp to cover the entire tent and the fly too. I do not appreciate getting soaked cold before going to bed!~ This was a very fun video and thank you for taking the time to share it with all of us. But now that your in your tent - what you got to eat - I am hungry!
The tarp is a great call! Thank you so much for watching and reaching out! The good news was that it was pushing 90°F that day so getting a little cooled off before bed wasn’t too bad. I did however have all the beef jerky and almonds that I cared to make a meal of for a good while. Lol.
I've got to use mine once we got it set up, I think it took 30 minutes once we got all the colors figured out, I think the kids spent one night, Then here Comes the snow and the 50 mile an hour winds. I keep thinking O man this Thing going to get ripped to shreds????. It Never Moved.
I am so glad my mother took us camping when I was young and her rule was the first thing you do is clear the way then set up the tent. If you wondering what I mean by clear the way, pick a spot you clean it up, and make sure there's no debre no rocks then you put up the tent. Only after you put up the tent completely and make sure it's standing strong that's when you unload and put up the tarps or canapy. After all that we had our chores someone will help set things up and someone will help get food together for dinner. When everything is set up dinner cooking my mother would take over cooking and us kids would play until time to eat 😊
@@oldsouthernpine thank you, my mother is no longer with us I lost her in 2018. Every now and then I get flash backs of memories that make me smile. She would've gotten a kick watching you, she was a southern bell. She was from Bristol, Virginia, Tennessee if anybody knows about that town they'll know half of its in Virginia the other half is in Tennessee. Thank you for your video it made me smile.
That's probably why you grew up strong, confident and have character. Just an assumption on my part but there's good evidence. Momma's and Daddy's have their ways of instilling values even in small things such as prepping a new camp and doing chores.
It wouldn't be camping if everything went to plan. Having two ropes on each pole of the awning (at a 45 degree angle) would generally prevent them from falling over in strong winds and rain, although not always. It's the first time I have come across your videos. I am glad you didn't give up when the rain hit and the tent was wet inside... been there, done that. 😊
Welcome to the channel! You’re absolutely right, it wouldn’t be as much fun if everything always went to plan! I’ll give the two ropes a try, thanks for the tip! Thank you for watching! I really appreciate it.
Mmm, boy! Setting up in the rain. SO much fun! Not. I have the Napier Backroads camo tent. I learned the hard way, in Acadia NP, to have all tent windows closed and just leave the door open with the net zipped up, to minimize incoming water when setting up in the rain. It still prevents a vacuum when you pop up the tent. And actually, you can keep everything closed at first UNTIL you are ready to pop it up. That’s when you would open the door a few inches. Those tailgate straps are actually pretty important with retaining the shape. Lastly, after practicing a bit and watching a couple videos, the black fiberglass pole at the tailgate should go on the outside of the cable, trapping the cable between the pole and the tent.
Well you have the same luck as I have with the weather. I set up my caravan after a 2 hour drive in sunshine during a heat wave. Got pitched up and started putting the awning up as it started to rain. It never stopped raining for the whole week
Please make more videos of camping with your truck tent. I find it fascinating. I am about to take my first trip out with my truck tent and I’m sure it will rain as it always does. I have been wondering about the swimming pool effect. It looks like the next morning was a blessing and things got somewhat dried out. Enjoyed the video.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you watching and the kind words! I absolutely love truck tent camping. It gives a very different perspective and allows you to camp in areas that wouldn’t be as doable with a tent on the ground. I hope you have a great time on your camping trip!
You are a good sport, and a little dog lover too. Thanks for sharing. I wanted one of these when I had a Ford Ranger, ranger size was out of stock at the time I needed it so I camped in a 4x4x8 Uhaul trailer.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching and the kind words. Hahaha Fiona is definitely “travel sized”! I bet that Uhaul trip was a fun one! Always been curious about doing that.

Very nice video, only thing that concerns me is the design of that awning system, wind and water can exert a tremendous strain on anchor points, and I would never use a glass window or windshield as an anchor point. I'm sure there's some sort of clip that can be attached to the tops of the doors as an alternative.

Putting up a video with no narration? Uh, no. Try again. Putting up the tent in a rain storm? Uh, no. Not a good idea. Should have just waited it out inside the truck and then put the tent up.
There is narration later in the video. The rain started after I began set up and continued into the morning so if I’d waited I’d have been setting up at 4am. Thanks for the comment.

maybe bigfoot will visit ya during the night
Hahaha totally possible, though there’s enough wet fur inside this tent as it is! Lol! Thank you for watching. This comment genuinely made me laugh!
Never seen such incompetence
What would you have done differently? Thanks for the view and the comment!
Doesn’t look very comfortable
Once I got it mopped out and mostly dry it was a very comfortable night.
You very obviously did not watch the video and were not decent enough to return to admit your fault. Go away
❤️
