Sad to see Summit go. I'm not really a Smash player but I'd always, always tune in to Summit, be it backstage streamers or the BTS Tournament stream. It's always such a good time and you can feel the good vibes resonating through the screen. Hope to see it return in future.
Acola seems like a really good kid.
I noticed in between games he kept holding out his fist to Tweek, and took note when tweet was shaking his head. He even does this in between popping off after winning.
It's already difficult communicating to an opponent when they're a bit tilted, and then throw a language barrier on that.
Acola is one of the nicest people in the community.
His friendship with Onin is one of the most wholesome things in the community

当たらない位置だったのを除くと下スマッシュは全部で6回。1回だけシールドで受けていたものの、5/6の割合で下スマッシュを確認してから回避を使用していた。1試合に1回程度の頻度にもかかわらず、ほぼ確実に回避できていたのは本当にすごい。

This was my first time ever seeing Tweek play Sephiroth during this tourney. I'm aware that's he's top 5 in the world. I was surprised how unimpressed with his playstyle I was. Mostly consists of short hop bair and fair with some mix-ups. I know I'm a scrub and he got to grands with it so what do I know but kinda boring to watch idk.

@@drive7324 For all of Steve's flaws (and there are many) at least he forces his player to be somewhat creative. Watching Sephiroth's gameplay could be a legitimate cure for insomnia.
@@Transfixion Steve doesn't do that at all, he just forces them to approach because he is the best camper in the game. Both Sephiroth and Steve do this but Steve does it to the extent where there is no interaction whatsoever in most instances.

Watching all four Days, it didn’t really hit that this was it. The farewell message from the team and the commentators really hit home from me, and that final video made me tear up man. I’ve watched every Ultimate Summit and the past 8 Melee Summits, and it’s always been my favorite Smash tourney. Thanks for the memories, and thanks to everyone at BTS who has helped out in every way over the years. Thanks to the players for playing as well as they did and creating some all-time great matches. Thanks to every commentator over the years for creating some iconic moments and providing everyone with some fun insight into the matches.
Congrats to Acola; he destroyed Loser’s after getting 3-1’d by Big D. 3-0’ing Leo is no easy feat, but he made it happen.

Thank you summit for giving me all of these amazing memories. I basically grew up with smash ultimate and it always brought a smile to my face when the next summit was announced. You guys always provided the best content with the best players, making it in my opinion the best tournament series of all time. You guys are the best and I hope someday it can come back in a new form. Thank you for everything!!
Really sad this was the last Summit. The one tourney I would sit down for and enjoy all weekend despite timezones being unfavorable. Thanks for the memories at least

Thank you, BTS. I looked forward to watching this whenever it happened! Tweek is an incredible player and so is Acola… But let’s be honest, Steve is the limit! Steve is so good as a character at high levels of play that it’s like a forbidden fruit to actually get a dub off of him! After how Tweek played with Sepheroth I’m convinced that Sepheroth is the ultimate answer for Steve, wouldn’t have it any other way. Much love to the smash community and congrats to Acola and Japan!
I cannot thank BTS enough for everything they’ve done for the community. My first experience with competitive Smash was Ultimate Summit 2, and there’s a high likelihood I wouldn’t have discovered one of my passions without them. Massive o7s to this phenomenal event and phenomenal team❤️

Good on you. Sephiroth is definitely good. The way I see it, if SkyJayy can make Inceneroar work, then people can make Sephiroth work. Especially since Ken won a major with Sephiroth last year.

acola had an amazing losers run and made some great adaptations but i think a lot of his wins highlighted how insane the risk:reward ratio is for steve
like tweek would be playing near perfect neutral, misspace one aerial, and take 60% for it

The final set of a legendary event series beyond the summits quality has always been god like and it continues to the very last one and congratulations to both acola and tweek for getting to grands and acola for winning althought I'm not a fan of Steve I can recognize that aola is very talented thank you so much beyond the summit you'll always be remembered

The first is that most top players can play at top level with multiple characters, especially the best of the best (Leo, Tweek, Spargo) but also lots of other great players as well (Zackray, Protobanham, Dabuz).
The second is it completely ignores how much stronger Steve is than other characters, and there's a lot of evidence to support this. It makes sense to ask this question if a character has broken tools like zero to death at any percent (Kazuya), or 0-60 from a safe tilt, and minecart, and much more (Steve). With Fox there isn't really anything like that so it doesn't make sense to ask if Light could do it with another character

Acola does play other characters. He has a Kazuya, an Aegis, and a DK, that have all shown to be quite proficient

It still feels bitter to see the demon of the roster win the last summit. Not the conclusion I was hoping for, but congrats to Acola, incredibly talented player regardless of the character he plays. The event was fantastic, and it will be sorely missed.

I do think PMLG makes steve technically/theoretically banworthy but it doesn't look like its discovery has made a significant change on anything at all yet (results-wise)... but once it does then I say ban him no question.

Summit was great with all the side events and skits, definitely the best smash event ever. Really hoped Tweek could pull off the Seph win and get to Version 6, but these games were insane either way. Both players are some of my favorites so I’m just happy I could see them play each other!
Never in all of my years of watching Smash Ultimate have I ever seen a player be so precise, so consistently strong with their parries than acola did in this set.

I will miss Summit so much. It’s always a time watching ONLY the top ranked players battle it out. Many of the all-time sets have been here. No distractions, no audience pressure, just players in that room solo. Amazing

Ban this stupid character. He's just a janky buggy mess that's no fun to compete with/against or to watch. It's like Bayo in Smash 4 all over again where the character is just carrying people way too hard. I watched every set of this tournament and every time Cola wins it just feels so undeserved.

The only explanation I can think of is Sakurai and his team blatantly deciding to sabotage the esport scene by making Kazuya and Steve ridiculously broken. That can only be volontary at this point

Remember watching Summit 9 as my first event as if it was just a year ago...
Summit 11 was the absolute highlight for me of course but going back on the ones before and after aswell as all the Mainstages and other cool events..man.
All the great side events, commentary moments and skits accompanied by an awesome bracket format with the best was just a constant as a smash fan and now it's gone.
I really don't know how long i will keep being motivated with all the terrible things we have had to endure since the pandemic but i hope smash keeps living a long life.
Maybe someday there will be something simular or a revival of the format but the approach you guys had with us the community is just something we'll never get like this ever again.

This set to me really symbolized the "moral struggle" of Smash. On one side a young prodigy piloting a character in Steve who is pretty unfairly busted against a veteran using characters who often make him feel like every match is an uphill battle. And all of this happening in a broader Smash scene where major tourneys are being cancelled and even Summit has to shut its doors. I'm gonna miss Summit because it truly culminates all of the dramas of the months leading up to it. Where does the Smash community go from here?

And there it is. The Final Summit. Man, We’ve made a lot of memories, a lot of good sets, and seen a lot of victories. But, all good things come to an end. not gonna lie, this tournament was AMAZING, so many players that I thought wouldn’t get as far, made it top 8. and of course acola, taking home the final summit trophy. I honestly didn’t think it would happen, but damn was I wrong. Congrats acola for winning the last summit ever, and Congratulations Tweek for making it to grands and proving the haters wrong. Farewell Summit, We will always have this supermajor in our hearts.
Summit really died with the most lame character winning, hope new tournaments live with a greater legacy
I genuinely think Tweek played better but holy shit Steve is so fucking broken. And we’re not even to like the point where Steve is fully optimized. This character has moves like minecart that are alone better than half the characters in the game. Don’t get me wrong acola is good but Steve has to be addressed and a ban wouldn’t be a bad idea in my eyes.

Summit has been one of the most anticipated tournaments of every year for a while now and for good reason. Sad to see it go, but we can still look back at how nice itwas and what made it so special. Thanks to the BTS crew, the casters, the players and the viewers who made it all possible. GGs.

Because it's a fight between TWO GODS, literally, Sephiroth and a Minecraft character, STEVE. It's simply poetic. Plus, Minecraft won. Beautiful.
Why is the smash community so stupid? It doesn’t matter how good Steve is. It doesn’t matter if Steve is Acola’s only good character. ACOLA IS THE ONLY ONE getting these insane results consistently. The player is the differentiator.

最終戦だけあcola君の立ち回りが上強コンボ、上スマ、横スマ増やして、いつも通りの動きをしている気がする。見せていない手で勝ちに行く戦法と、スティーブが壊れキャラだと言う批判を避けるために最終試合までセフィロスに立ち向かう立ち回りしてたのかなと感じてしまった。凄すぎる

Quick question what do y'all think of Steve being able to stand on TNT and blowing it up without taking damage? Personally, I think they half-a** the character and left him unpolished but that's just me. Genuinely curious to hear your opinion.
Personally I think that's busted, as well as the new no knockback tech (acola used it against a waft earlier in the bracket), and the kill power of cart and anvil. Lowkey I think steve would be sick if he struggled to kill and had to rely more on his crazy set ups

After Acola won Summit, he made a comment saying that he understands the hate towards Steve and purposely chose not to learn those broken mechanics. Acola is just a kid enjoying this game, it's not his fault that the devs left Steve broken.
@@JoJoboiWav Threating a game loss or set from the Steve players is already enough to stop them. There was litterally no problems of PMLG at Collision. Plus the tech is not worth the effort.

Thank you everyone from Beyond the Summit. The first Smash Summit got me into competitive smash, and you all have been with community every step in the 7 and 1/2 years since. This may be the end for BTS's events, but the memories that we've made will stick with me and the community forever. ❤
Thank you to all the wonderful people involved in making these events that have brought joy and fun and helped us see new sides of some of our favorite players. BTS will live on in spirit.

Amazing tournament! Less than ideal finish but the amount of upsets and amazing matches made this one I’ll never forget
I can't believe that beat your ass is giving out because of how strong all the communities that center around it are. Yet here we are, farewell friend we will all miss you.
Acola deserved this 100%. You can’t deny his talent. The fact that he plays Steve has no bearing on that.
If you do, let me remind you that this kid had to beat Leo, Gluto, Banham, Kurama, Big D, and Tweek TWICE to take home the gold. And he pulled it off.
You can’t just pick up Steve and go on a run like that. You just can’t. If any of the Acola haters would like to prove me wrong, please, go do it.
Past that, this set was definitely one of my favorites of the tournament. Tweek played the matchup very well. Seph’s range does give Steve issues.
Again, though, Acola managed to work around it. His parries were absolutely godlike, able to break into Seph’s close range, where he’s at his weakest. Any character capitalizes there. Not just Steve.
I think this win basically solidifies Acola at the number one spot currently. Has three major wins under his belt so far this year, and not even missing top 8 at the majors he didn’t win
Acola is a fantastic player whose skill shouldn't be minimized just because he mains Steve. That said, Steve is a grossly broken character. If Nintendo cared about this game's legacy, he would get massive rebalancing in a patch update and fixes to bugs. He is by far the most privileged character of the entire cast for those who have put the time into learning him.

By far my favorite Summit to watch and it sucks to see it go but like TK said it may come back and I'll be here to watch if it does. Good luck to the production staff with whatever they do next.
I hate Steve more than anything, and he is broken, but there's no hiding that Acola played well and with skill. Good show overall!
