It's hard to believe that the LZJ, that fought a tired Chou Tien Chen, that sometimes couldn't direct some of his shots well and had difficulties reading his opponent's moves, in just 2 years, became an All England Open champion.
His evolution is surreal, only being ranked 60 or below during this game, with him now holding a Championship only held by number 1 and 2 seeds for the last 17 years, until him of course.
I really hope to see him shine in the Tokyo Olympics, he truly has the ability to go for a medal!

I still remembered watching this match live on tv…his shots were pretty rough back then…but what really impressed me is in just two to three years time he had evolved himself into one of the top players now…his shots nowadays are just mesmerising to watch when hes in form

Of course they have better coverage and steeper smash but having low agility slow recovery. GG when meeting small/average but good technical or high stamina players, even worse when they're getting old. Ask any badminton coach and they will give you the same answer.

Imagine you are leading 20-18 at the last set and you are already dying and short of breath....needing to win 1 point ....only to lose the match and the title to LZJ. CTC did his best...but LZJ refused to give up no matter what...even in front of the intimidating home crowd of CTC. LZJ has indeed proven to be a worthy successor as Malaysia's top singles player at such a young age. Even our Malaysian hero lee Chong Wei didnt win any super series title as young as LZJ.

Some of the winning shot or points from lee somehow makes chou look like amateurs. This is chou homeground ffs n he got beaten by someone lower rank than him. Thats why i think chou gave the middle finger after the fight when they hugged. He is a sore loser..

Chou was short in stamina on the second set. Strategically, he should gamble on conceding this set fast and fight in the rubber set. But Li Zi Jia's fitness is beyond anybody's guess.

chou's biggest problem, is that he doesn't have a lot of variation especially during critical moments. This boils down to lack of confidence in his all around skillset. And skillset will become more and more important than capability. In order to advance to the next level (best of the best), he has to focus on strategy play (supported by top skills), rather than still playing like a 20 yr old (which he is not anymore).

a lot of unforced errors from Chou Tien Chen. In the first round, Chou's smashes were hard and precise. Second round it faltered, and in the third round, Chou stopped using smashes to end the rally, and focused more on stroke play.
In conclusion, Lee had the more energy and the more consistent player. Lee, being a very good upcoming player, and Chou still is a top seed player nonetheless.
This was before CHOU became his own coach and left others, he is wayyyyy better now

Many of Chou Tien Chen's fans and badminton fans know already that he is one of the most humble players and often show good sportsmanship.. I personally think that he was unintentionally flicked his finger when LZJ came to hug him, since he was too tired after this match.. well again, this is based on my observation
Maybe in homeland Chou is seems desparate to win by playing too aggressive. He fire too many smashes which cause him extremely exhausted compare to Lee. Lee is very well defend and calm with lesser unforced errors.
To be a top player the player have to be calm and with good strategy. The world has 1 Lindan and it is hard to replicate another like him who really aggressive play during his top form. The other style of playing to keep longer on top spot is like Lee Chong Wei or Kento Momota, great defend and stamina with strategy play.
