The biggest slap in the Face has got to be not being able to Play ANY of the New Seasonal Content on Your Main Character(s). That was an automatic no from me. Veterans shouldn't be jeopardized in Favor of an 'even Playing Field' for Seasons. Absolutely ridiculous!
Never played a seasonal character on any MMO/RPG/ Gear based game huh? The whole point is getting the fun of player progression again, and introducing new builds and gear. There could be season modifiers that give +100% headshot damage, or +50% damage to targets inside 15 meters, ect. A completely new way to play the game. Create a new character to play the game to the modifiers and enjoy a change of pace.
@@blckandwhtknight”A completely new way to play the game” *Gives example of stat boosts that already exist as a build* Comical, almost downright laughable even, the same mental gymnastics all Diablo players use to try and justify their dopamine fest being surgically attached to every looter-shooter
if i cant use my main for story content then they will lose me, i like my routine, im mainly here for the story and to help others grind. allow use to play the game how we see fit, some dont like the repetition i get that so allow an option thats not forced on everyone
The focus seems pretty clear. New players generate more revenue than veteran players and set the franchise up for future releases. I don’t blame them - they are running a business and it makes sense, but damn it hurts.
I’m a veteran player, played the Division 1 and played the Division 2 since release and to be quite honest I haven’t played the game for a month or so, because the game was getting boring and very stale. I will try the new changes and if I don’t like them I just will not play. There is plenty of others games out there to pass my free time with , while waiting for Brooklyn DLC and the Division 3.
@@NYLCasualGaming agreed - and these "new characters" they're talking about? what did we spend all of this time grinding great builds and now they want us to NOT use them?? very bizarre.
Absolutely not looking forward to seasons 2.0. I shouldnt have to put down a character ive put countless hours into, and forced to start a new character, just to partake in new activities. This wouldnt generate more interest for me. This would make me want to walk away from the franchise, entirely.
@@NYLCasualGaming I loved your video about this. You delivered it stone cold and honest. What we are being offered is exactly the opposite of what we want and need. I'm just not paying anymore. Grand job, laddie. Maybe with people like you and GB telling the fans ire they will reverse this entire thing. I'm not holding my breath. Ubi don't listen.
You are absolutely correct. Why do they make a game to change it? Why do they hate their core players? Who makes an exotic mosquito pistol and think we are going to use it? Who authorized the mosquito pistol? According to their X account they explained that the majority of players are using the Mosquito pistol. Why are they thinking? Why does anyone want to use this horrible pistol? This is just one example. Do they even play the game??
@@NYLCasualGaming what if it's because they have been creating a veriety of gear ideas to make the seasons 2.0 stand out each time? I hope this is the case because if not, I would agree with you. I don't think Ubisoft can get the balance right but if they do, it's going to be a blast.
You are one of the few content creators I've seen actually speak out against this update and the proposed changes. It makes me feel like the others were likely paid off to make a 'good video' on the content. I'm glad you are saying exactly what a majority of the player base is thinking. The biggest problem I have with this whole update is the seasonal characters. I don't feel like that should even be a thing or at a minimum it should be optional. Reducing the optimization requirements, letting newer players have access to the other parts of the game I'm honestly fine with. I do think that will help breathe new life into the game. But, the seasonal characters thing just feels like a slap in the face. If they had done this at the very start of Division 2's life cycle it wouldn't be bad but...why change it now? The thing is most of the Division 2 player base is actually quite friendly and help newer players learn the game and drop gear for them. I guess we'll see. I hope they change their mind or at least alter the plans for this seasonal character clown show.
You are spot on. Seasonal characters work in a game that is designed from day 1 in that way. What we are getting aren’t even proper seasonal characters - new missions, nope - new events, nope - new bosses, nope - new enemies, nope - new abilities, nope. It’s not really a seasonal character. It is a structured way to fast track new players through to the end game. Now does that mean that they are doing this ahead of some meaningful new endgame content. Maybe. Or maybe it is just farming new players for metrics and revenue. I think Brooklyn DLC will be a critical point in determining that.
Didn't proceed through 1 level of the prior season, so not trying this one seems natural atp. Corporate evidently told their team of clowns "This Game Is Not Dying Fast Enough"....Hence the Year 6 aka- [SuperTrash] update. These jokers can go down with the Titanic, I'm grabbing that upright Bass I see up ahead, and scout around for Rose to see if she wants to exchange body heat.😊
It's like they went to the drawing boards and said, what can be the worst idea and wort thing we can do to the game oh! And completely launch our sick on the hardcore long player base who kept this game alive and devoted there years in!? I mean look at the team who are developing the game! They look like they raise chickens and moan about the weather while watching a vcr tape in black and white.
The Devs said a long time ago that they really couldnt add anything into the game and I get that. I have no idea how to code, but how difficult would it be to turn a Stronghold into a mini DZ? How difficult would it be to turn the Pentagon in to two conflict maps? How difficult would it be to turn NYC into a survival map? Really, how difficult?
I did game dev for a couple of years. The things you say sound very logical, but in reality not that simple. 1. Using all the regions you named for a conflict/pvp/dz type of map is not possible without tons of work. Turning a stronghold into a mini dz. Sounds fun, is not fun. The stronghold is designed to make you follow a set path, in theory one big snake. There is no way to turn a stronghold into a mini dz without having to alter it completely to allow for more routes instead of being sandwiched constantly. 2. The pentagon map is not designed for conflict pvp, just like the strongholds it would have to be completely revamped to fit conflict style pvp. 3. Turning NYC into a survival map is near impossible without a $30 DLC attached to it. The amount of coding and man hours it would take to create a whole different gamemode is insane. And no you cannot copy paste survival from div1 into div2 since the games have completely different code structures.
aw shit. i should have joined them as mocapture career. idk why into it but im really love TCD2, challenge enemeies, storyline. let say im more of rpg person, empathy and other feature about me. wishes some of people who fan of tcd2 should have chance to join in, who know they have different idea and other. i know it would be much, much logical and diffuity to insert/put in code amd other. not mention that i saw deaf person who using basic sign language. that why i want join them as mocapure. we need type person who need brain and know books, games, or know what missing. is that bit much to ask? 😢
But the DZ is a sandbox. The strongholds are linear. The map would have had to be fundamentally different from the start for one big dz and thus some of the story.
This is a beta test for the Division 3. Don't like it? Don't play it, and most importantly don't purchase anything or this will be the future for the Division.
Quite possibly which would be okay. It is a different thing to buy a game you know is structured around seasonal characters, and to have it forced on you after 5 years of investment into agents.
There are a few games coming out that look promising. Mind you, the monetization in First Descendent could be an eye opener. By the time Brooklyn DLC comes out we will be dying to go back!! 🤣
Tbh I’m pissed off with this.. Haven’t spent 5 yrs perfecting builds just to be told that we are starting again every season. Great job massive how to send all your old vet players on to new games.. This change is for you(massive)and new players not for us long time vets.. 🖕🏻😡🖕🏻
let the new players do this trash.....I, and many other players who have grinded like a work horse for what we have shouldn't have to do this crap. you haven't anything until now, and they're dropping this trash on us tomorrow.
I don’t have to play this “trash”. I want to. I’ve played this game for the longest time on Xbox and got it for Playstation. I’m excited for the new content. (If anyone wants to bash me for wanting to play a game, I don’t really care. I’m still gonna keep playing the game, because I enjoy it.)
As a new player on Playstation, the content is made for you. That's the point really. If you don't have all the gear, maxxed out expertise, and a full roster of characters, it is great. For existing players though, it is running the same content again for no real gain.
I spent a lot of time grinding and building my character. THERE IS NO WAY I WILL ACCEPT REGRESSION OR RESETTING MY CHARACTER EACH SEASON! I will not spend any more money on this game. Not Happening.
The seasonal characters is proof that they cannot actually add to or create anything beyond what is already within the existing build. They are literally boxed in. And current players have no way to go up and continue to level up. So the only answer to their dilemma is to revert everyone back to zero. And then try to con them into thinking it's an all brand new experience. The world hasn't changed, the locations are the same, the mechanics are essentially the same. It's getting your dog to run around in circles for the hundredth time. Oh wait, but you will get the opportunity to earn REWARDS for going back to zero and doing everything you've already done.
They do seem to have lost that spark they had in Div 1. To be honest, if they just recreated Underground, Survival and Resistance in Div 2, I would be happy for now. They seem to have lost how to make replayable content that is fun to keep grinding.
Great video. One of the only creators actually reflecting the fans rage on this. RogueGold who I previously loved, is just gaslighting and dissing his own followers. The entire reveal was a disaster. I think giving everyone access to level 40 is good. Other than that it was a joke. No new content. They are giving us absolutely nothing new. Yet somehow, they've managed to give us the exact same thing and made it worse. The game is done.
@@R0GU3ST4TU5 I know. How he can honestly sit there and fan gush over what is a the biggest F.You in gaming history is beyond me. I think this debacle is going to show people for what they are.
Agreed on the access to level 40. The way they have done it seems to make sense. The focus between attracting new players and retaining existing players seems to be out of balance right now. Hopefully Brooklyn DLC changes that. I think if they had revealed more on what that will give to the existing base then it would have felt better. Marginally.
@@NYLCasualGaming thanks for reply. I admire the modicum of optimism you had at the end. But nothing could take away the bucket of cold sick they served up. Maybe I'll calm down a bit after some reflection. But I'm tired of game developers and there tone deaf decisions. I'm not sure there will be a base left by next year's dlc. Anyway, keep up the good work.
Looks like Ubisoft took the route that Blizzard has done with the diablo series. Only thing is, Blizzard has the entire game and stories told already made for this format, that’s why their characters speak and have their own set of dialogue pertaining to that current story/season. Division 2 was made specifically for US to be seen as the agents, given the fact they are a nameless and voiceless protagonist so the story was meant to be told as US the players as the main character. That is why Seasons 2.0 is truly a slap to the face and a mixed bag of emotions; veterans of both games or just the second one get punished to cater to new players who may not even be playing the game in a couple of months.
Spot on. Diablo is built for seasons and seasons introduce new content, gear, dungeons, bosses, abilities, etc. With Div 2 it’s the same content with a modifier!!! Ugh.
Blizzard also has massively more resources in D4 to make the model work. Massive... can't even push a patch without a littany of new and trivially obvious bugs created.
wow, a content creator who gives an honest opinion that agrees with 90% of the player base on this trash of a show buried near the end of the post show (that the devs hyped the crap out of). i've lost a lot of respect for most of the other content creators out there who are obviously shilling for the devs in order to get their "early" access. It's very clear (with Heartland cancellation) where Ubi's resources and talent is going to moving forward. For all you D2 homers out there have fun with playing the same old crap for the next 4 years.
So we have to play “new” seasonal content with new Seasonal characters that we must level up to 40 and engage with weekly events… but we can’t use our existing characters at whatever level SHD we have them at to do these events? But at the end of the season all xp materials etc will be transferable to our existing characters to to what? So I have that right?
Wait, so we HAVE to make a new character to participate in the new season? So our main character is useless now? And we will have to start over every season? Never being able to stay on a main character? WHAT THE FUCK UBI?! If I'm missing something, someone please tell me. Otherwise, I will delete the game.
That's largely correct. Your main character isn't going anywhere and you can play it any time you like. But the new seasonal content will only be playable with a seasonal character. Also, if they release new game modes, incursions, raids, the new Brooklyn DLC then your main can play that content. So maybe wait and see before hitting that delete button.
If they make each season stand out with gear rework and sets each season it's going to be a blast. Ubisoft doesn't have a great track record so I think it will fail, but I'm hoping they can pull it off.
I echo the sentiments of a lot of players on this thread but I’m also trying to do what you’re doing: reserving judgment until I can actually experience the changes firsthand.
I think we have to be realistic. With the small team they have focused on the Div 2, most will be working on the Brooklyn DLC. This means that the seasonal character is going to be a rerun of the same content we have done many times with faster level progression and a modifier slapped on it. Compare that to games like Diablo 4 which were designed from day 1 to be seasonal where each season comes with new enemies, new missions, new dungeons, new bosses, new abilities, new mechanics, etc. The fact that gear will transfer to our main stash following the seasons end seems to indicate that we won't be getting any fundamental gear rework with each season. Its just more of the same.
I have 3400 hours in game. I have no will or reason to play this game any further. I’ve completed every mission, every legendary and every raid. What am I supposed to do? Play stale content for thousands of more hours? Hard pass. It’s their game but I don’t have to play. I’ll be moving on again until The Division 3 if there ever is one.
Maybe we need to play division 1 again instead division 3 because from what I see instead they grow in their work everyday, they just losing their minds more everyday
It also looks likely there will be no more taking a new character along the Warlords Of New York shortcut and getting all the resources from a newly maxed-out watch.
I’m not sure exactly how that will work. There still has to be a point where a character’s SHD level has to be raised to match existing characters. Presumably this will still result in points to spend. Unless that thing Keener did in the cutscene with his watch is going to wipe everything!!!! 🫨
You might be right, but I suspect there is a discussion going on about the future of the franchise. If they can get new player numbers up then the franchise lives on. If not ….
I doubt I will be playing the Division 2 via 2.0. I've been playing the division 2 since day 1 If anything ubisoft should have done this for the Division 3 at launch not during the end of the division 2
This Works in D3 and D4 but that's from the get go you don't introduce seasonal characters 5 years later. I love this game and I'm a big Diablo fan, I only play hard core and there was no news for us. I'm gonna check if our but I don't think this seasonal stuff will work for veteran players 😢
Spot on. With Diablo you have an expectation of what to expect and so don't put thousands of hours into your main character. To introduce this now doesn't really work. On top of that, the game isn't built for seasons like Diablo. We shouldn't expect new enemies, new missions, new dungeons, new bosses, new abilities, etc. I suspect all we are going to get is a rerun of the same content, with a modifier like the global events that changes on a rotational basis, and weekly 'events' that boost the leveling. Definitely not aimed at veteran players.
Worst thing since gear 2.0. I'm done for good. I wouldn't be surprised if they quietly shut down the servers for Div 1 so nobody has anywhere else to go but this piece of shit
@@NYLCasualGaming Ubi did it with The Crew. Except they went the extra mile a revoked the license so even if you "owned" it, you can't even start the game up
Yea I literally just came back to the game maybe a month ago and i’m ready to leave it again for good. These devs never change. They’ve been doing shit like this since div 1.
Later this morning once the game is updated, it’ll only take me a couple of hours to make my mind up about whether I’m going to bother with year 6. I have a sneaky suspicion it’s just going to be more of the same and with no new content announced, I might be going back to Breakpoint very quickly.
PAID. DLC. IS. COMING. That is the point of the restructure. Streamlining progression through "old" content and getting all players to lvl 40 with gear they can play the upcoming content with. All your "hard earned builds" are going to be worthless when they raise the level cap to 50 and reset the gear. It is coming. Long overdue, this should have happened a year ago, maybe even two.
They kill Heartland, Now they kill Division 2. That's just sucks, The only reason I don't play D4 is seasonal characters. F' it. it seems i'll play for the story and that's it. They had the worst update they had could ever have.
I think if they had announced something about the Brooklyn DLC it would have taken the sting out of it. Hmmm. Given Heartland, I wonder how secure the Brooklyn DLC is. Odd it only got a passing reference.
@@NYLCasualGaming It does feel as ubisoft is trying to scrap this game and it might be it's last chance. I wonder if D3 is even secure. I can only think now that season 2.0 might be go or no go for next game, who knows.
I quit because there was nothing to do and still see no reason to come back. How long to they expect me to do the same summit and crafting mats farming with the same builds because new gear suck?
After more than 5500 hours invested in the game and 4 years of playing, I think that I will finally leave the game if they do some reckless stupidity again, this doesn't make sense anymore, they give everything to almost everyone and don't think about the old players, they are looking at how to attract new players, and they don't really care how many of us old people they will lose, I guess they will remember who kept the game active for them for 5 years.
I think you are right and it might be time to take a break until the Brooklyn DLC comes out. The focus is clearly on new players to drive the right metrics and, let’s be frank, revenue, while banking that existing players will stay because of the time they have invested into the game. Financially, it makes sense. Just painful to experience though. No Content ‘til Brooklyn!
or how did they magic up the ability to add a 5th character for seasons 2.0? we were told for years that it wasn't possible to add space because reasons.
This just hurts, the manhunts were already pretty quick, about an hour of gameplay. Now I have to basically not use my main character (300+ hours with a solid sniper build), just for the new season. We already have to wait for the next manhunt pieces (over 12 weeks just for the main target). Now we have to replay the game, even with an extra “XP boost”, just to play an hours worth of content. New players beware, because once you’re a slight veteran, say goodbye to that progress
For new players the game offers a lot really. You have the whole leveling process which will now be pretty streamlined and fun. Then you have all the endgame which for if you haven’t played them before will keep you going for some time. 50 to 100 hours I would guess before you hit a wall. Everything they are doing is great for new players and I understand why they are doing it. It just sucks that there is very little in it for existing players. No content ‘till Brooklyn!
People on another channel are like HELL YEAH this is why we play, to grind.. i'm thinking to myself.. what the hell happened to these people? grinding a new character every season and then dropping them to start a new one is a horrible cycle they've come up with.
Grind for what though? I mean, most existing players already have all the gear outside of some raid exotics. Their SHD levels are over 1,000. And many have max characters in their roster so will they gain anything at all? Yes, not sure I get the grinding for grinding sake. It is what killed Outriders.

And it will be worse.) when the previous chief of project (or whatever) was sacked, and now everything has gone down the pipes. I already quit the Division 3 weeks ago, and won't come back until something new (and without game crashing bugs) comes out. Good job, marketing CEOs...
I think having Julian Gerighty (?) back with the franchise is a good thing generally, but the focus is clearly on the future (mobile and Div 3). Div 2 is being farmed for new players and revenue now.

To me it feels like this is being introduced to fast track new players into the end game to boost player numbers ahead of the new DLC. It’s not for us but hopefully the DLC will deliver content that is.
Yeah I gave up a while ago, kept coming back to do manhunts to get specific gear and exotics but now there are also awful! Sadly, I think I’ll delete and focus on The First Descendant and Warframe (which actually does deliver new content consistently)
@@NYLCasualGaming that’s 10 months to a year away 😂. But I will probably have a look when it’s out. Their time management is poor. If D3 doesn’t come out to day 2028 then that’s a dangerous gap. Unfortunately kids don’t want to play Division, they want to play COD and Xdefiant and they know it
Maybe 8 months. Less time than having a baby!!!! You are right about the gap to D3. They clearly planned to cancel the franchise after WONY and so everything is now just a mad scramble on a shoe string budget.
Yup. They're using this update to bring in new players by giving them the wONY dlc free. That'll bring on money later with selling store items and then the dlc for next year. They fired employees and canceled the mobile game, and announced the new dlc would be released next year instead of this year. They're hurting for money and probably see that old players aren't logging in as much anymore.
Admire your passion but your 2 facts are wrong. WoNY isn't free now, you can just get to lvl40 without doing it. Also it was Heartland that was cancelled not Resurgence. Sorry to be pedantic but a lot of hate on this great game is from opinions that are just downright wrong :(
While factually you have a couple of things mixed up, in principle you are spot on. This feels like it is being fueled by a need to drive more new players and revenue to the game ahead of the Div 3 launch.
@@NYLCasualGaming It's all about money, and only about money. By now every scrap of meat has been stripped from DIV 1. I miss Survival mode... and I even miss the REAL Dark Zone. My only hope is that they copy/paste DIV 1 somehow. Until then, I'm not going to run through their maze of repetition.
@@NYLCasualGaming they have tweeted since the announcement that a 5th character slot will be added. No idea what happens in the season after... devil is in the details I guess. For my money, this is all built on the existing hardcore code and the character will be walled off and deleted (but the free slot remains) at the end of the season after your gear is shipped back to clog up your mailbox (since you dont' have space on your 'eternal' character regardless if you are a vet). New season slot available for new season and that's all. But just speculation at this point.
I have only just reached SHD levels, and this new roadmap only makes it more….confusing to say the least. Like why now? This game is on Year 6? Why wasn’t this a Year 1 or 2 feature?
Yes, it is an odd time. I have three thoughts about this. Firstly that this is all a drive for new and returning players who may be put off by the gap between them and veteran players. This drives hype about the franchise again and boosts the chances for Div 3 to be successful. It also boosts revenues from a game well into its life cycle from base game sales and skins that new players tend to buy. Secondly, that they have seen Blizzard’s success with seasons and how it can help to break into the casual player market. Finally, this is a testing bed for Division 3 and they are seeing what works and what doesn’t. I think this is unlikely due to the impact on the player base, but it’s a thought. One thing it definitely isn’t is new content for existing players.
Big time disapointed. Are they really game developers? Whos leading these disapointing ideas. Fire this guy. Honesly I was hoping with the time put into division heartland. I was really really thinking maybe heart land would be a DLC added to game. SMH. All the time years and the money. And to be even interested in a division 3. After this and all the nerfs and just all the continued let downs. Im good. Keep your game. I cant be the sheep.
I think it’s clear who is leading this really. Think about what is being delivered and what they announced. A fast leveling process for new players all the way to the endgame cash shop. Ubisoft anyone?
the seasonal character bs solves the stash issue they dont want anyone keeping gear over seasons, even though they say seasonal content will be pushed to main after each season, i ask one question? where will and what roll is a main used for, what content?
Hopefully we are getting new content with Brooklyn DLC that might include a dz and an incursion, or a new game mode or legendary mission. That will be where I would expect existing players will get new content.
I get where you are coming from. I think this is all about driving new player metrics which drives more revenue and player count they can quote ahead of Div 3, while banking on existing players continuing due to the amount of time they have put into the game.
Check this out Division 2 year 6 is all about $$$. Deleting world tiers and an entire gear platform (gear score 100-500) cuts maintenance, server space, and even number of "fixes" required when there is a problem. New manhunts equal significant increase in players which equals server space. Seasonal characters with no stash or backpack will prevent the need for this server space when more players log in. Div 2 is going auto pilot cutting back resources changes not for player enjoyment. This manhunt did not even have a custom mision was standard DUA
Before the vet players give up? Already deinstalled after last seasons soap opera story finale. It showed so clearly, that quality of content is not the scope, its getting the playing field ready for Div3 sells.
I wonder how many hours will be needed to get from level 1 to 40. The last 10 levels after boosting a character to level 30 were painful. It took so many hours for those without a team; it was extremely annoying and boring, and some missions were gated by level. I gave up many times on creating a new toon because of this annoying experience. If they cut the time by half, I think it would be the sweet spot to teach without being boring.
They did say that progress was accelerated so I would guess 10 hours or less. Participating in the weekly events will probably provide bonus xp reducing that even further.
probably a hot take, but i think with about 1k hrs i got my value out of division 2, and if the team needs to be focused on division 3, then i don't mind,.. if division 3 starts from where division 2 was in year 2 it would be a huge improvement
The simple answer is that this is a structured way to get new players into the game that will allow them to level a character to max level quickly, and in hopefully an enjoyable way. Then when those players get to max level, they might stay. It really isn't adding anything for existing players though.
I quit playing soon after the incursion launch. I never got the new gear, but it wasnt a priority for me. I just like strolling around the environment. But I just got bored. So I moved on. Still waiting on Div 3
You hit the nail on the head once again the guys that have stayed by this game have been shit on what are my 5000 hours worth now nothing cause if I want new gear and story I got to start a new character
The focus is clearly on new players which is good for the long term health of the game, and Ubisoft’s bank accounts. At least we have Brooklyn to look forward to. 😬
all I see is angry comments, which I understand and I agree for the most part. The thing is, it wont ever do anything. The comments in the RUclips section is not criticism devs take, so expressing that frustration here helps Casual Gaming (which I'm all in for) but it will not change anythingtowards the game.
I am still waiting for my judgement. But i am seriously not feeling the excitement like the other RUclipsrs. Like what is there to be excited for if all they are selling is even more grinding at the start of every season? I get the feeling they are just abandoning old players now and investing all they have left to get a few new players in the game. A part of me hopes that the planned system gets changed or something. Because it feels like too much of a grind. I didn't put countless hours till now to simply reset at the start of every season.
I think you are right. This isn't for exisitng players. It is a structured way to get new players into the game and through to level 40, ready for a paid Brooklyn DLC. $$$
@@NYLCasualGaming Yeah exactly. They are just trying to maximize the player base before heading into the Brooklyn DLC. And from there they plan to cash in.
‘New campaign’. Have you wondered how jarring it is going to be that as a new character you play the story missions again yet at the same time Keener is alive but you haven’t killed him yet. This could be the most weird ass experience ever. 🤣

@@NYLCasualGaming that's what i'm thinking. unless they offer some better equipment than what's coming this season - not a lot of reason to play.will probably do the manhunts (or whatever the heck they're calling them now) LOL
No matter what they did, not everyone was going to be happy with the changes. You have to realize the game is coming to an end. They are trying to get more people involved to prepare for part 3!
Of course you are right that you can't make everyone happy all of the time. But, to not announce any real new content for existing players was a little too much for most people. And changing the structure of a game that players have invested thousands of hours into, making that investment redundant, not good.
When the phone companies tell new members they can get the latest new phone for no money down if they sign up. Then tell the ones that have been with the company for 6 years. You have to pay for the same new phone.
Yes. The focus is clearly on getting new players into the franchise to drive revenue and player count ahead of Div 3. We do have Brooklyn DLC coming so maybe it is time to play something else until that arrives.
I definitely think season 1 looks boring. I'll have to wait and see what happens with seasons 2.0 but as of now I'm not happy about it. I feel like we maxed out all our builds for nothing. What a waste
I am with everyone else here. I will not be making sessonal characters. Losing the ability to play the new content on my main with over a thousand hours, grinding and perfecting my gear, and min maxing my build is the last straw after 5.5 years. One silverlining, you know this will be Div3's gameplay model, so at least I know in advance that I won't be buying it.
Potentially, you are right. Particularly if it results in an uptick in new players. Whatever they, the key is for them to be clear about it before launch.
@NYLCasualGaming with the introduction of "tier skips" with the new bundle, it makes their push for seasonal characters clearer. IMO, they're forcing seasonal restarts (in part) to slow season track progression and entice those who take longer to get to level 40 (because that's when the seasonal stuff "starts") to buy "time savers". If this works (we all know it will), we should absolutely expect this to be how Div3 ends up. Considering that we've not had to deal with this BS until now, I'm guessing the devs didn't push it. Like the new monthly sub for RB6, this has UBI's bad management written all over it. Surprised they didn't try to integrate Quartz lol. Anyway, that's enough stressing over a game for me. I had a good long ride with this and it was my favorite game. Thanks for a video that didn't sound like a panderfest / gaslight telling me its "actually great". Cause this is a huge upset for a lot of the playerbase (I would imagine).
That's an interesting thought on it. My theory is similar - they are using a structured fast track seasonal progression to get new players to 40 quickly ready to shell out for the paid Brooklyn DLC that is coming.
I have absolutely no interest in grinding my watch anymore or grinding for gear . The new seasonal charcater system has just killed my enthusiasm for it
I am waiting to see how many people playing it takes to keep the servers up... I hate going online for everything, it should be go online to game with mates, play it all offline ie Sniper Elite.... but anyway as soon as the servers goes down I will ask for a refund, I bought Warlords on PS5 and Xbox now its not needed you say, so I was robbed.. it's like new player welcome F the old players.
I’m not sure anyone really knows what size the player base. Even steam player counts are misleading because the game didn’t launch on it. Anecdotally, queues are quick and the central hub / dz always seem active so I’m guessing it is pretty healthy right now.
@@NYLCasualGaming I so hate games as a service that I play games I already own wait 12/18 months to get the game at the very rock bottom price, this splitting games into dlc also all money grabbing..I wait for the Gold all you can eat bundle for a tiny amount of money, I know Iam not alone! Ubisoft say get ready to never own your games, I say get ready for me paying the smallest amount!
I don't mind games as a service if it is done well. In general, the Division has been one of the better ones. We have paid for very little in comparison to what we have received. The latest decisions seem to be more about the direction of Ubisoft and what it is focusing on.
@@NYLCasualGaming I bought D1 + D2 day one I don't think you must have ? going up ladders into thin air that locked up the game, Echo's not working at all and stopping game progression dead in the water, Ubi made Millions from these games, what about state of the game if you didn't 100% kiss their ass you were blocked from saying anything, the price it is at now it's a good buy but I won't be paying no £75 basic game and up up up the price goes for any dlc, what is in now they call it for the full game Gold, Diamond etc horse $hit like I said I will wait and pay take away curry price for the whole thing ...£25.
I don’t mind all the changes but even for new players this is a slap in the face as even then they make a character then next season they have to do it all over again just so all the gear goes onto their original character sorry but what is the point in that that’s just more work the devs have to do and resulting in more negativity from the existing player base either new (year 5 players) or for OG players
Sadly I have come to the conclusion that the point is to fast track new players to the endgame cash shop. Eliminate all the barriers to entry - leveling process, level 30 cap, gap between new and veteran players - and watch the money for season passes, skins, and DLC roll in.
Yes. So if you have limited time to play, but have been playing the game for years, would you prefer to play brand new content or replay the leveling process again and again?
Yes. Sadly I have come to the same conclusion. Get new players through to the end game as quickly as you can so they can buy skins. Seasonal content that can be charged for. Paid DLC.
This isn’t that. Diablo is a game built from the ground up for seasonal content. Each season has new enemies, new missions, new abilities, new dungeons, new bosses, etc. Div 2 isn’t built for that. So this is the same content rehashed. With global event type modifiers. And the usual manhunt activities stuffed into weekly events.
Seasons 2.0 isn’t bad. However Introducing something like Seasons 2.0 in a game that’s been out this long makes absolutely zero sense. If this was year one or two it would track better but ppl have been playing this game over 5 years, have thousands of hours played.. why do they think we would want to go back to level 1 and grind it all out again, EVERY SEASON?? I’m also just confused by their approach.. they’re trying to attract new players and bring everybody up to speed, now? In year 6?? With Div 3 already announced? Why? Like how many new players do they really think will flock to this 5 year old game with these changes?? They should focus on the player base they have, not trying to create a new one 5 years down the line.
Ironically, this seasonal character system is more likely to kill the remaining player base off than it is to grow it, yes there are some people who will enjoy a fresh start from playing the game for so long and having every build imaginable, but that group of players is in the minority compared to a lot of players who have either picked the game up more recently, or are veterans who don't play religiously and are still perfecting their builds or trying new ones. For example I've played D2 since release but for various reasons I didn't get WONY straight away, so I didn't get to 40 for quite a while after it was released; I work full time and don't stick to playing this game exclusively, so my SHD levelling has been pretty slow. I'm at about SHD 685 across four characters with builds I'm still working to optimize. Now I'm being told these characters and builds will be effectively useless for future content, outside of being mules for gear I picked up in a previous season, since I must create a new seasonal character for every new season that releases. What the hell is the point in our original characters if you can't access any new content with them?
You have hit the nail on the head here. The concept is fine but introducing it now is not. Div 3 is still many years away so it is not insane to try and drive growth in Div 2. Financially, what they are doing makes sense. Doesn’t feel great for existing players though.
There has to be a tapering off of content to transition from D2 to D3. If they put new and exciting things in D2, then it will take away from D3. Why keep putting things into something that is dated when you are working on a new project?
D3 is still years away - at a guess I would say minimum 2 years but probably 3 plus. To get a good comparison, Division 1 patch 1.8 with the Resistance game mode was released in December 2017 and the final patch 1.8.3 came out in August 2018. Division 2 released March 2019. So we should expect plenty more content to come.
The devs are just spitting sHit out at this point. The entire point of the last season was kelso going rogue and they waste no time in the new trailer to show Keener becoming a Division agent again. WHY? Stop trying all these cheap tricks other game companies do to FORCE players to play more than they want to without missing out on content you'll take away! I don't want something to grind for because playing games shouldn't be a god damn CHORE!
It feels simple what they should be giving us - quality replayable content like Survival, Underground, and Resistance. This all feels like a push for new players who will buy cosmetics and increase revenue. 🤷🏼♂️
Guess im waiting for First Descendant to drop. This dev team has shown us they dont give a damn about its core player base countless times now...time to give some other games a go.
Yep, not only has the Div2 been put on the back burner, there was very little for us tryhards. Not optimistic for the future, Dei madness is going to creep in. But what do i know, I'm just a racist apparently.
100% correct....nothing for the older players...very disappointing...back to Call of Duty ....alot of minor changes .. nerf the players strength and increase the enemy power especially with all those turrents. now thats ok, but three turrents in a checkpoint is unreasonable. they are taking away the fun...
@@NYLCasualGaming I don't get what Power Creep people are talking about with this game. These developers has made sure players, could never feel powerful unless they are giving you global events to feel powerful. Enemies are bullets sponges, red bars could kill even tanks with a few shots, the game feels like it was built to give the enemy the high ground not the agent.
They buffed all of the weapons and brandsets with project resolve. Plus we have been getting progressively more powerful weapons like Ouroboros. That’s the power creep.
Agreed. Seasonal characters needs to be something that is in the game from day 1. Changing 5 years in doesn’t work.
all they needed to do was give an option, plain and simple, but no, let's just force it down their throat, it's in their [devs] best interest!...
@@blckandwhtknight”A completely new way to play the game” *Gives example of stat boosts that already exist as a build*
Comical, almost downright laughable even, the same mental gymnastics all Diablo players use to try and justify their dopamine fest being surgically attached to every looter-shooter
if i cant use my main for story content then they will lose me, i like my routine, im mainly here for the story and to help others grind. allow use to play the game how we see fit, some dont like the repetition i get that so allow an option thats not forced on everyone
Well put, "nothing here is for a veteran player" is all i was thinking throughout.

Yes. Changing the whole structure of the game at this stage is a no. Players didn’t invest in it for 5 years for that.

The ‘forced to’ bit is a killer. Only way to access new seasonal content. A real kick in the teeth for existing players.

@NYLCasualGaming absolutely. I should be able to complete any season or manhunt with the character of my choosing, not theirs.

Thank you. Very painful.
🤣 Nice one. That made me laugh.
Go try to make a game and you'll see
I did game dev for a couple of years.
Very difficult, extremely even.. So yeah, you just dont understand it
This is a beta test for the Division 3. Don't like it? Don't play it, and most importantly don't purchase anything or this will be the future for the Division.
Quite possibly which would be okay. It is a different thing to buy a game you know is structured around seasonal characters, and to have it forced on you after 5 years of investment into agents.
Hopefully the first descendant can scratch my looter shooter itch. I’m not starting a new character every season.

We have a little while yet - doesn’t start until season 2. Enjoy the last normal season while you can.
No resetting as such. You keep your main character but you just can’t play it in the seasonal content.
I gave up and deleted almost a year ago. If I live long enough for D3, I am in my senior years, I will see you all when it comes out.
Hang in there mate! Hope to see you in Div 3.
@@NYLCasualGaming agree 100 percent.

Its fine for everyone to have their own view. I think they are off base with this one but that's their view.
A shame but I think you are right about resources. The focus is on Resurgence (mobile games make more money) and Div 3.
That is it in a nutshell. If you want to experience the story progression.
Thank God there is one content creator calling this bulljive for what it is..
@NYLCasualGaming that's my plan, if a seasonal character is required.
Im holding my judgement until I actually experience this personally. I may end up liking it. Who knows.
This whole thing makes heartland's death even more sad lol
I think that is a sensible move. Come back when new content is delivered in the Brooklyn DLC, but play other games until then.
Thats a quick attempt of cashing in once more before letting the whole game die 😢 ...
You might be right, but I suspect there is a discussion going on about the future of the franchise. If they can get new player numbers up then the franchise lives on. If not ….
I doubt I will be playing the Division 2 via 2.0.
I've been playing the division 2 since day 1
If anything ubisoft should have done this for the Division 3 at launch not during the end of the division 2
Spot on. This is a fundamental change in the structure of the game which is not something you introduce after 5 years of player investment.

Later this morning once the game is updated, it’ll only take me a couple of hours to make my mind up about whether I’m going to bother with year 6.
I have a sneaky suspicion it’s just going to be more of the same and with no new content announced, I might be going back to Breakpoint very quickly.
The new seasonal content is coming in Season 2, so we have one last season before it kicks in. I am tempted to take a break until Brooklyn DLC myself.
PAID. DLC. IS.
A very believable take. I can see it happening.
Very true.
I quit because there was nothing to do and still see no reason to come back. How long to they expect me to do the same summit and crafting mats farming with the same builds because new gear suck?
No content 'til Brooklyn!
And where are we going to store all this wonderful new stuff we get with these wonderful new characters....WTF ?
Yes. They didn’t mention stash space. 🤣
Likely all the new gear acquired will be blueprints aka Descent mode across the board for Year 6.
or how did they magic up the ability to add a 5th character for seasons 2.0? we were told for years that it wasn't possible to add space because reasons.
@@grumpyoldman6503 that is a good question. I guess servers are cheaper now.
Thanks for the update and breakdown of new info
My pleasure
People on another channel are like HELL YEAH this is why we play, to grind.. i'm thinking to myself.. what the hell happened to these people? grinding a new character every season and then dropping them to start a new one is a horrible cycle they've come up with.
Grind for what though? I mean, most existing players already have all the gear outside of some raid exotics. Their SHD levels are over 1,000. And many have max characters in their roster so will they gain anything at all? Yes, not sure I get the grinding for grinding sake. It is what killed Outriders.
Just found your channel via reddit Division sub. Well said mate , as all the other Div CC's are lapping this shit up as if its the best thing EVER !!!11!!!!

Good to have you on board.
Is it only me ? The game is not loading since the updates.
Same here on Xbox. Might still be pushing through the Season 1 maintenance.
I was so happy (well, not really, because I have learned a long time ago that you have to beware of what you are wishing for, as you may get it.
@@NYLCasualGaming As of now we're having the same game crashes we had before Project Resolve (what a joke...), and no new interesting content. My interest for the game has plummeted for 3 weeks, now, and I can't see it getting back any soon, with these politics...
so is all of this 2.0 stuff and new seasonal characters start next season?
Season 2 which starts in 4 months I think. We have one more season of the same as before.
All ubistoft games will be deleted from my pc. I wont be buying anymore ubisoft product. They dont give a rats @$$ about the players that have kept their game going.. Ive really enjoyed this game, spent a ton of time in it.. Not as much as alot of u folks as i came late to it but everyday for the last year up to shd lvl 3360.. If they do this, i have no problem pulling the plug.
I would say hang on until the Brooklyn DLC comes out. Might be all our last hurrah! 🙂
Way to go Ubisoft Massive! Completely screw over and lose your veteran player base again, just to get a few casuals who didnt give a crap about your game for 5+ years... You cant make this up. 😂
To me it feels like this is being introduced to fast track new players into the end game to boost player numbers ahead of the new DLC. It’s not for us but hopefully the DLC will deliver content that is.
Yeah.. I'm done and out ..
Come back for the Brooklyn DLC. The last hurrah!
Yeah I gave up a while ago, kept coming back to do manhunts to get specific gear and exotics but now there are also awful!
Sadly, I think I’ll delete and focus on The First Descendant and Warframe (which actually does deliver new content consistently)
Maybe come back for the Brooklyn DLC. No content til Brooklyn!
I played DIV 2 because I ran with a group that was as in love with DIV 1 as I was... but month after month - deception. I still miss the LMB... I miss Survival mode... and I even miss the REAL Dark Zone. My only hope is that they copy/paste DIV 1 somehow. Until then, I'm not going to run through their maze of repetition.
I think the lemon juice poured on the cut will be having to delete my gear mule to get a seasonal character
They didn’t touch on what happens if you already have a full roster. Lemon juice indeed.
How some salt to that lemon juice? - no additional storage room for loot that your mule was carrying
@@grumpyoldman6503 That is my reading of it as well.
I think the developers purposely designed it this way to slowly kill off the division two unfortunately, but that’s how I feel about it
I get where you are coming from.
Very true. There certainly seems to be a drive for income and reduction in costs going on.
Before the vet players give up? Already deinstalled after last seasons soap opera story finale. It showed so clearly, that quality of content is not the scope, its getting the playing field ready for Div3 sells.
Agreed. Time to take a break until Brooklyn DLC.
6800 shd In the trash
Uninstalled. I do hope they track metrics like that.
You can only hope.
@@NYLCasualGaming I hope so.
probably a hot take, but i think with about 1k hrs i got my value out of division 2, and if the team needs to be focused on division 3, then i don't mind,.. if division 3 starts from where division 2 was in year 2 it would be a huge improvement
Which is great value for money. Probably 3 years until Div 3 though.
You have to be mad if I have to start a new character every time to get into a season. The hell are they thinking?
The simple answer is that this is a structured way to get new players into the game that will allow them to level a character to max level quickly, and in hopefully an enjoyable way. Then when those players get to max level, they might stay. It really isn't adding anything for existing players though.
I quit playing soon after the incursion launch. I never got the new gear, but it wasnt a priority for me. I just like strolling around the environment. But I just got bored. So I moved on. Still waiting on Div 3
Try playing Div 1 again. The environments still look amazing and there is more replayable content.
True. But sometimes it is good to vent. 🙂
@@NYLCasualGaming totally! I‘m just hoping to reach people with my comment, so the playerbase actually can take action and cause a change!
Something of a Helldivers moment! We can but hope.
Can't wait to get into this new campaign.
‘New campaign’. Have you wondered how jarring it is going to be that as a new character you play the story missions again yet at the same time Keener is alive but you haven’t killed him yet. This could be the most weird ass experience ever. 🤣
I'm 4000shd and put around 700 hours in game, so if I've to make a new character for "new" content well i'm not touching the game.
As far as we know it is just the seasons that are for seasonal content. So expansions like the Brooklyn DLC will be for our mains.
Absolute Rubbish! Veterans are kicked to the curb and left there to wonder why this happened. Veterans already hang by a thread.
i'm with you. i've already been playing less; and, now i'm not sure if i'll even log in daily for an hour or so. and the new season?.......the new equipment/exotics look to be crap. very disappointed.

@@NYLCasualGaming i'm taking a hard look at "star wars: outlaws". comes out aug 30 and is looking pretty good so far.
A good comparison.
For a new players it's good news but for a veterans its disaster!!Expertise ,SHD levels in the garbage?
Yes. The focus is clearly on getting new players into the franchise to drive revenue and player count ahead of Div 3. We do have Brooklyn DLC coming so maybe it is time to play something else until that arrives.
boycotting tf out of this. there’s no way i spent years grinding my character to where it is now only for them to snatch it away from me. hell no
Yes. A lot of players are quitting the game over this. Time to take a break and try some other games.
I definitely think season 1 looks boring. I'll have to wait and see what happens with seasons 2.0 but as of now I'm not happy about it. I feel like we maxed out all our builds for nothing. What a waste
Yes. It not looking that great. I would say that Ubisoft Massive might surprise us, but who am I kidding.
The new seasonal charcater system has just killed my enthusiasm for it
I know how you are feeling.
They didnt put it in the main show because the live audience would have torn them a new asshole.
Quite probably. Albeit, it seemed a very pro Ubisoft crowd.
You understand that not everyone plays 24/7.
Yes. So if you have limited time to play, but have been playing the game for years, would you prefer to play brand new content or replay the leveling process again and again?
Exactly true, it's all about making it easy for new players, hence the project resolve and now the seasonal characters. It's all about selling skins 🤦
Yes. Sadly I have come to the same conclusion. Get new players through to the end game as quickly as you can so they can buy skins. Seasonal content that can be charged for. Paid DLC.
Im looking forward to it. I enjoy the diablo playstyle.
This isn’t that. Diablo is a game built from the ground up for seasonal content. Each season has new enemies, new missions, new abilities, new dungeons, new bosses, etc. Div 2 isn’t built for that. So this is the same content rehashed. With global event type modifiers. And the usual manhunt activities stuffed into weekly events.
can you share your stash with the new character??
Typically with seasonal characters they have a separate stash which only merges when the season ends.
unknown/unanswered at this point, but in other season models you are siloed off much like a hardcore character is currently.
The only use of leveling the playing field is for pvp. There is no gain in doing it for the majority of pve content.
Good point.
@@NYLCasualGaming So they will probably trickle/stretch out the content to hopefully satisfy us until D3 comes.
That sounds about right.
@@NYLCasualGaming what's weird is making new characters to continue a story arc that said character canonically didn't see.
