When most build guides are 10 minutes long, having one that is 5 minutes long clearly shows it is full of fluff. What would you cut out then?

It is inevitable that there will be a mathematical meta in any looter shooter just because it is impossible for every item in the game to be perfectly balanced. Every game with loot has a best in slot. It is up to the players whether they use it or not though. Maybe the question we should be asking is why are so many players so fixated on playing a game in the mathematically most optimal way, rather than in the way that feels best to them? 🤷🏼‍♂️

I use a very similar build for farming which is built around avoiding rogues. I will put mine up on the channel this week coming most likely.

Thanks for running these numbers and they certainly make sense (25% TWD on 25% TWD cf 25% AMP on 65% AMP). One thing though you may not have accounted for is if having a shield with a higher health is important to the player. In which case you need to do what I did in my calculations which is remove WD cores from the Strikers / Ceska to get to the same equivalent build. Very much depends on the skill level of players and playstyle, but for those that want to be aggressive, using a shield to get in close, then having the higher health that the NB gives you is very useful. Its a sacrifice of 200k dmg for staying alive for some players which might be more important to them.

Very good point about the lower bleed damage now. I think players should start higher and reduce it to the level they feel comfortable at. Of course, the bleed effect is really annoying with what it does to the screen so personally I'm sticking with bleed immunity.

True. I do find that the bleed status effect is very annoying though with the slowing effect on sprint and the darkened screen. So for me the immunity is worth it. But with either build the main thing is that the Backfire is really good now and more people should try it!

The only reason I don't like HF with the build is the slower RPM. It just feels so sluggish. But the cc is great. A striker build will still outperform (my build is very much not optimized) but HF is still great.

Have fun with it. If Backfire had just slightly faster RPM I would say it is the best SMG right now with all the changes they have made. As it is I think there are very valid arguments that Dark Winter or Chatterbox are still the best because they are more versatile - Backfire forces you down one build type. Even so it is surprisingly good and I hate to say it, well done Massive for making the changes to Ceska and Yaahl. I'm sure many like me were a bit 'whelmed' by the last brand set changes but they actually got those two right. By the way - I have a build for this that I use all the time and will put out next week but Yaahl - pulse resistance - dz farming. See where I am going with this. Cheers

@ It was the very base of my hazpro conflict build last season before the buffs. Now, it’s an even more compelling pve option. I think pairing it with strikers is genius. Crit chance and damage is covered by the smg, and striker takes care of buffing tf out of it. Keep up the great content!

Thank you! Appreciate the support. Have fun with it. It certainly surprised me with how strong Backfire is now and hats off to Massive for making the changes to Ceska and Yaahl. It makes Backfire very viable without screwing up any other builds. The toughest part of the build is getting the right rolls on Yaahl and Ceska pieces. The rest is fairly easy to put together. The same happens to me occasionally, but it is pretty rare. Typically it is one of two things. An all red core rogue, full dps, who started shooting before I saw them and was hitting headshots. At 900 RPM they can hit 15 shots a second. With a full dps build that means that even if I have 2 million armor I am going down in maybe 1 second, maybe 2. The other is that there were actually 2 rogues and I didn’t see one of them. If it is faster than that, and I agree it does happen, it feels a little suspect.

It’s why I often use a pulse resistant build to farm landmarks, with everything set up to avoid rogues rather than fight them.

Sssshhhh. 🤫I use the Capacitor in Conflict so don’t tell everyone about it. When everyone is running tons of armor, having a weapon with 12% DTA is a bit of a no brainer to me. But I don’t see it as much in the DZ I guess because of its slower fire rate. I love it and when I put out my own builds (maybe next week) expect it to be there. Great to have you on board. Which platform are you on? In the next few weeks I will be putting out a video announcing a project I want to work on with new players. Xbox though which is what I play on. Albeit everything is an Xbox apparently. 🤷🏼‍♂️

@ yes and the Capacitor is the only AR Weapon that can have DTA as the 2nd Attribute, allowing for DTTOC to be the 3rd. A nasty combo. That would be fun but when I got back into gaming I went with a PS5. Look forward to more content though. 🍻

The way pulse resistance works is that the duration you are visible is equal to: Pulse duration x (1 - pulse resistance) So at 100% pulse resistance the duration is 0. So while you may get the message you have been pulsed, you won’t actually be highlighted to enemies. The thing to be careful about is if you are using any pervasive skills. Drones, mines, etc. These do not benefit from your pulse resistance and so will be visible for the pulse duration.

I spend a lot of time in the DZ farming landmarks but rarely pvp in there. I do play a bit of conflict and I have a build that is strong for it. Let me know your build and I will try it out.

@ Don’t push it. Quick question: My current regen build has Chill Out mask with Regen and two crit chance mods. Do think I should change to Catharsis with a crit chance mod instead?

I think that is up to you. Do you prefer the constant regen from say Gila Guard compared to the healing cloud of Catharsis? Catharsis definitely has more damage potential but in the end it is what works for you best with how you play. The more you pvp, and the better you get at it, the less you need the regen and damage output becomes more important. I use chill out in my conflict build, but its not a straight forward regen build. It seems to be working well and I am consistently getting the MVP award. I will reveal all soon! 🙂

A few of issues with this. There isn't actually that much in the way of status effects in Countdown to make it worthwhile. On top of that, 50% Hazpro doesn't really do that much - you need 85% to 97% to gain immunity to the status effects in the game so while it will reduce the duration of status effects it won't eliminate them i.e. hunters will still disrupt everyone. It has no AoE which makes it a really inefficient way to apply the buff. If it left a puddle that could apply the buff to multiple players then it would be better. But the killer is Capacitor. Capacitor lets players running skill or hybrid builds still deal decent damage, or Scorpio which debuffs and buffs, so it is better for the team for them to use these than Cooler.

@NYLCasualGaming correct. The killer is capacitor. But from a support standpoint, if you don't have the damage, you're better off with one of the repair buffing talents on a non exotic weapon. Either way... the secondary weapon being the Cooler doesn't really make a difference, so using it here and there is both funny and a little useful. Especially when the cleaners have taken over and everything is flame. It's just a toy to play with for the laughs, not a strategic choice. The hunters aren't the place to worry about status anyways so it's best, if anything, to run a foam interrupt resistant build of someone really wants to play support. Personally, when I do support I use an aa-12 with reformation. But that kind of support is best for clan team play, so it's not often that it really matters. Even worse is that reformation hasn't been working for quite a while so it's kind of moot currently.

They do. I have a sneaking feeling it is done to artificially drive up play time. Eliminate a meta and everyone has to farm for new game. Covers up the lack of new content.
