“Let me come up so I can see the patient and we can talk in person.” Now THAT is a good doctor. As a nurse I wish we had more doctors like you in the hospital.
It’d be so useful to have doctors that actually come see patients, I feel like most of my life on shift is trying to get doctors to answer pages and come assess people 🙄
As a chronic pain patient and someone who is in hospitals a lot, it’s so hard to be seen by doctors. Nurses are life savers. Was in hospital twice for possible Addisons crisis and the nurses were amazing.
my mom is a nurse as well & she’s had doctors literally ask her how much of a medication she thinks they should give a patient instead of assessing and doing the order themselves.

It's always so interesting to watch. I've been watching since you were a 2nd year and now you're a 4 year already! Keep up the awesome work!
I love how excitedly she talks about everything even though she got no sleep. It's cool cause you can tell how accustomed she's become to the long shifts and scenarios after all these years. You can tell she was made to be a doctor
I am married to a wonderful man who happens to have just begun his 25th year of nursing...I watch you to get a better idea of what his nights must be like. Always busy, always very serious stuff going on, and yet he manages to keep his sense of humor and act like saving lives is no big deal. It's a REALLY big deal what you guys do from7p - 7a, so thank you for being a cheerful night owl!!
Shout out to your husband and all the other amazing nurses out there! I always say they have it much harder. We see our difficult patients for 5-10mins a day, the nurses are by their side for 12hours a day. We couldn’t do what we do without them! I know nurses have saved my butt more times than I can count haha
THIS WAS ME last week! Rushed into emergency brain surgery within minutes and I kept trying to die on them. THANK YOU for showing up during a pandemic! Having survived solely because people like you are willing to show up regardless makes me more humbled & appreciative than words can say!
I’m a new grad registered nurse and you’re honestly the kind of doctor that I look up to and admire. As a new nurse, calling doctors is probably one of the scariest parts of my job.. but sweet and caring doctors, like yourself, make it much easier for new nurses to feel more comfort.
I’m a nursing student and had to call a code blue on my patient last week while working in cardiology. It was so terrifying but honestly watching your videos and becoming more familiar with the terminology, roles, and interventions made me much more of a help and allowed me to communicate better with the interdisciplinary team. So thank you❤️
That’s a scary situation to have to live through at any point, especially a student! Great training though. I’m sure you did awesome :) Good luck in the rest of your schooling!
Hi Erika I’m a student nurse and had my first code last week to. I’d never heard one before so it kind of took me by surprise sadly my patient was dnr so there wasn’t anything we could do. Well done for handling it so well.
I'm an ICU nurse, and I love your videos. I love how you speak to your nurses kindly and listen well, even in the middle of the night. I'm so thankful for physicians like you!
I’m so freaking proud of you girl! When I first found your channel you were starting your videos with “I’m a second year medical resident “ and now you’re onto “fourth year medical resident specialising in rheumatology” I love watching you grow as a doctor and as a person!
I really like that you clarified at the end that you care about all your patients, it does show in your dedication, the fact that your picking up ICU shifts during a rheumatology residency and how exited you sound about good outcomes. HIPPA can be a cruel mistress at times but it does more than just protect privacy, patients have more going on than their conditions and if their name isnt on anything that protects them from abusive ex partners, ICE and medical bias by employers.
The Covid situation in our hospital has suddenly gotten a lot worse, almost like back in March again :/ glad you guys so far only had the suspected case! Thanks for sharing these cases, they're super interesting to learn about! I'm in my prereqs for nursing, and sometimes with anatomy the chapter will mention a certain condition and I'll remember you doing a video about it, and it helps to go back and hear the details of a real-life case.
I love learning that way. I used that all through school, if there was a situation I could mentally connect what I was learning with, it stuck so much better. Best of luck to you with your schooling and getting into nursing school! I’m sure you’ll do great! And stay safe out there with your new outbreak :/
We are in a similar boat. Our Covid positive numbers have increased while we are losing employees rapidly. The majority are CNA and RN 's, it's creating greater stress on those of us already working daily. I'm a DNP and have been doing it over 20 years. I can honestly say nothing like this has been the worst year for my hospital. The umbrella company that runs the hospital is poorly run which created a ripple effect prior to Covid-19. Now we are seeing an increase in Influenza hospitalizations along with Covid. I'm exhausted and I feel for all healthcare workers. Hang in there. 💜
You are sooooooooo sweet and honestly, I wish more doctors were like you. My husband just passed away last Tue, he was 51. I would would KILL to have a doc that truly cares.... KEEP DOING AN AMAZING JOB, YOU ARE CHANGING LIVES SWEETIE! YOU ARE AN ANGEL!
I m enjoying your videos... I was born 1950 so a while back.. So, I have a lot of life experience with illnesses. My entire family 1955 during the Polio epidemic was exposed to and we all contracted POLIO. My father age 32 and brother age 4 both paralyzed from the neck down and my sister age 2 Boston, Massachusetts was placed in an iron lung after being packed in ice with 107 fever. My mother age 31 and myself age 5 at the time right before the Polio vaccine came out did not get the high fever so we both escaped paralysis. My mom and I both had O blood. Dr Mike Hansen has a good utube channel following the Covid 19 pandemic 2020 which you may enjoy, anyway, he said O blood gives people more protection from Covid 19. Anyway, I m trying not to contract Covid because I m still battling post polio syndrome ( the after effects of polio ) for 15 years now. This brings me to Covid long haulers where Covid symptoms are lingering on and on. Yes, this can happen from my Polio experience. So, please stay safe ! Please consider wearing an N 95 mask which may protect you more. ps... you are AMAZING .
Thank you Siobhan for making these amazing educational videos. I am a 4th year medical student and had been extremely anxious to start residency until I watched your videos. I can't stress enough how much you have helped me! I still feel nervous of course but through your videos I feel like I have gained some insight into how it is and it doesn't seem that daunting anymore. I had literally considered quitting at some point due my fears and anxiety but you have given me new hope and thank you for that! I will keep fighting through the fear and achieve my dreams!

I love that you, while specializing in ruhmatoidology, are deciding to keep your general internal medicine and ICU skills sharp, even though it's not required. And especially with the pandemic, those skills are even more important than ever!
I’m a paramedic in Ontario, and I always like to watch your videos when I have a little down time on shift. I’m about to turn 30 and just applied to medical school after years of it being in the back of my mind. You are such a caring physician and it’s inspiring to see truly good people in a profession so fitting. Thanks so much for all your work and care.
I love that you love your job. The medical field is definitely a field where you HAVE to love caring for people not just there for the pay. Due to my mom being sick a lot I have met a lot of doctors who just seem to be there for money and genuinely don’t care for their patients and it seems like you do! That’s awesome and so rare to me these days please don’t ever loose that!
You are a hero and you were born to be a doctor! You are so caring and sweet! I can not believe you are in your 4TH YEAR!!! Anyone else think she looks like Penny Blake though?
Hi Siobhan, following you for quite a while and enjoying it a lot. I have been an ER tech for 23 years, now disabled. Your coworkers are lucky to have you, please remain always so nice, GOD Bless Zolly.
Yes!! I know you refer to patients by symptom instead of name to protect their privacy, as well as for clarity teaching us, but I’m glad you said so out loud. :) I was thinking someone was sure to jump on that in the comments...
I was literally just thinking like 3 hours ago that I agent gotten to watch a video from you in what feels like a long time and then I got the notification 😀. It's so good to hear from you again, I missed you're cheeriness and awesome personality. I hope you stay safe and healthy s you go in and out of the hospital day after day ☺️.
Hello from Toronto! I discovered your channel last month and binge watched almost of the "episodes". Honestly, it's been the best way for me to decompress after an exhausting day at work (I"m a teacher) and get ready for everything I have to do at night for my family and also for my course (I'm also a full-time grad student at the ripe age of 47). You make me so proud for being Canadian (after 17 years in Canada, this country is like home to me). Your kindness, generosity, incredible work ethic and enthusiasm, stamina and positivity are highly inspiring. Thank you for everything you do! Can't wait for more videos!
I’m a new grad nurse just started an ER position, and I remember the first time I had a pt go into vtac and did CPR. It was chaotic but such a great learning experience, and luckily the pt was okay ☺️
Oh yes I don't think you ever forget that first time - I remember shaking after with all the adrenaline and having difficult writing after!! Glad to hear the patient was ok
How these videos make me wish I'd continued my medical training. I KNEW I wanted to be an R.N., but I had a suspicion I REALLY wanted to be a doctor. Family obligations got in the way, which is why I encouraged my kids not to let that happen to them -- to do what they WANTED to do before doing anything else. These videos are fantastic!
You are so calm and joyful. As I apply to medical school, I want to always maintain that quality-- I know it serves your patients well by the way that you carry yourself!!!
Stay safe during these trying times. You and every doctor and nurse out there are heroes. I wish you guys are able to get your school debt forgiven from everything going on right now.
I am a Medical Coding/Billing student and your videos help me so much! I love when you explain when and how a procedure is done. It really helps me understand what I am coding. Thank you for making these videos!
Siobhan this is my first year as a nursing student and I can say without a doubt you are one of the reasons I applied. You truly helped inspire me and watching you take on night shifts and code blues and unique patients reminds me of why I want to be a nurse. I can not believe it’s your fourth year already! Congrats!
I’ve been watching her for quite some time now..n as I work for foreign countries, she’s the first white lady I have ever seen who’s so smart and and soft spoken..her speech shows how dedicated she is towards her work and to cure patients..loads of love ❤️
4:54 "Oh my gosh. I only just sat on the bed. That's classical. Ughh. And this flashlight doesn't work. oh boy..." LOL this had me dying haha. I'm glad to see you back and done with the exam :) much love to all
Dear Violin MD: I am so impressed with you ~ and your passion for what you do. It's a real joy to watch your channel. May God Continue To Bless You And Your Husband As Your Careers Continue To Progress 🥰
I like how you explained how pride aren’t their conditions and that you can’t mention names. Btw I am not in the medical field by any means but discovered y’all and love learning from y’all. The world needs more doctors like you and your husband.
You look so happy to be starting your shift. I remember when my 3rd shifter husband used to look that way... after so many "waves" of Covid patients, he looks like a man going to his own execution and trying to be brave about it, lol. Before the haters begin jumping on to say that he should just find a new job... folks, the ERs and ICUs throughout the nation would be staffed only by the ghosts of health care workers past if those with burnout didn't work there. Everyone who is left feels that regardless of how they feel, they're called to do what they're doing. Either that or all the other positions in the hospital are full of those who jumped out of the fire and are hoping they never have to go back in. My husband truly cares about his patients and he's amazing at what he does- if you ever get that sick, his is the face you want to see at your bedside. But many are the angels in scrubs who are working in the ER and ICUs...
My cousin just wrote that exam too. I love following your stories. I actually worked at your hospital for a bit back in university. Good luck with your exam marks and your career 😀
Dear Violin MD: It is a joy to watch your videos. You express such enthusiasm for the medical profession, care for your patients, and talent for teaching. May God help you and bless you in your studies and in your career.
I love your energy, being a constant hospital patient for my AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) i’ve seen ALOT of nurses good and bad, you can just tell you actually care
Congrats on finishing your licensing exam!!!! I just completed my nursing licensing exam and found out yesterday I passed and am a nurse!! :) the exams were pushed and pushed here in Ontario and THEN the College got HACKED!!! 2020 sure is an exciting year girl!!! 😁
I love this, My nursing just got hit by it in a week or so ago and its spread like wildfire working in this has been insane and so hard in the nursing home especially with Alzheimer's and Dementia residents who are normally confused anyways. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I made it half way through EMT training before I decided trauma wasn't for me... I never even saw trauma but I knew what was coming. I'd rather work on machines instead! Respsect for people who can treat other people while thinking in a technical way. Love that.
Siobhan, you are my inspiration. When I’m having a rough time with my studies and feeling exhausted, I think of you and watch your videos and am reminded of why I’m doing all of this. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get into medical school and one day help people just as you are doing now!
hearing 4th year resident at the beginning of the video is still wild to me. been here since year one!! also I think it's funny that a small bore chest tube is called a pigtail. there's a bore/boar pun in there somewhere.
Wow I’m always impressed with how well your videos are edited. Like most doctors ( i say this with all respect ❤️, It’s def hard to record and do your job while not breaking HIPPA) just stop whenever they have an emergency, meanwhile you take the time to edit and Teach what you learned/ did in that emergency. Props to you Doctor! Once again I’m not being shady to other you tubers I’m just admiring these educational videos!
i could see that you're definetly born to be a doctor
Aw thank you Nadia, that's so sweet of you!

This is what it looks like when you do what you actually really love.
She’s a real trooper trying to keep up with all the doctor stuff and filming at the same time ❤️❤️
Hello from Toronto!
That is nice to hear that the patient was okay afterwards.
Feels like a million years later, your videos are therapy ❤️
You are so calm and joyful. As I apply to medical school, I want to always maintain that quality-- I know it serves your patients well by the way that you carry yourself!!!
Stay safe during these trying times. You and every doctor and nurse out there are heroes. I wish you guys are able to get your school debt forgiven from everything going on right now.
You're so inspiring! I hope you know that you make a big impact on all our viewers, but especially your patients and co-workers I would imagine!
Welcome back, we missed you, how were the exams going?
Missed you guys too!! Feels so good to be done with exams... although 🤞🤞 until i get results next month!
@@ViolinMD you are so sweet to reply to us omg ♥️✨😭
@@ViolinMD I’m sure your violin wired mind aced that exam.
@@ViolinMD I already know you're going to do well, especially because of how passionate you are about helping others.
I am a Medical Coding/Billing student and your videos help me so much! I love when you explain when and how a procedure is done. It really helps me understand what I am coding. Thank you for making these videos!
a fourth year already !! can’t believe it 🤩it feels like just yesterday you were a second year 🤍
Siobhan this is my first year as a nursing student and I can say without a doubt you are one of the reasons I applied. You truly helped inspire me and watching you take on night shifts and code blues and unique patients reminds me of why I want to be a nurse. I can not believe it’s your fourth year already! Congrats!
Only Siobhan would have the energy to do a full night shift and still vlog lol
Ya
You were born to be the most positive doctor ever!
I’ve been watching her for quite some time now..n as I work for foreign countries, she’s the first white lady I have ever seen who’s so smart and and soft spoken..her speech shows how dedicated she is towards her work and to cure patients..loads of love ❤️
Siobhan's "Oh boy" expression is soo cuteeeiii 💕💞♥️💜
Glad to see you’re doing well, Siobhan! The hard work done by you and your fellow healthcare workers is greatly appreciated!
I love the little clarification at the end. People are definitely not just their conditions
I love the efforts you make to explain to us your patients even when you are trying to rest.
I lowkey didn’t know if filming while working was prohibited, but I’m glad it isn’t. Loved watching this.
4:54 "Oh my gosh. I only just sat on the bed. That's classical. Ughh. And this flashlight doesn't work. oh boy..." LOL this had me dying haha. I'm glad to see you back and done with the exam :) much love to all
I was watching since " a first year medical resident" I'm proud of you for uploading ever since ❤
Dear Violin MD: I am so impressed with you ~ and your passion for what you do.
You are the definition of a model doctor. Seeing you makes me so happy! ❤️
Omg my life is now complete 😭🥺❤️
I genuinely cannot wait until your residency is over! I'm stoked for you
You’re back!! We missed you! So awesome to see you’re still doing awesome and amazing as always!
Thanks Adam - it's so great to be back AND to have such a big exam behind me!

"People are not just their conditions." -Dr. Siobhan Deshauer
Finally I’m getting my daily fill of medical information! You’ve inspired me, and now I am working to become a doctor when I get older.
Omg tysm :0
Great overview of the ICU! No matter how many codes you run, they are always very intense!
I stop doing my midterm to watch this, worth it!!!!🤷🏻♀️
thank you so much for helping all of us and working your ass off all day. you deserve more
My cousin just wrote that exam too. I love following your stories. I actually worked at your hospital for a bit back in university. Good luck with your exam marks and your career 😀
Dear Violin MD:
It is a joy to watch your videos.
You express such enthusiasm for the medical profession, care for your patients, and talent for teaching.
May God help you and bless you in your studies and in your career.
Love this, Siobhan! I love when you take us along to a place we couldn't go otherwise. It's much better than a TV drama -- it's real life. :-)
Hey Randy! Long time no see - hope you are well!
You are such a ray of light and positivity
The fact that she’s smiling the whole time is giving me faith 🥺😍
I seriously admire you for doing both Rheumatology and keeping up on your critical care skills. The world needs more caring people like you!
Yay! 😄 She’s back! 🥰
The passion that you have for medicine is awe-inspiring, even when you haven’t slept during your shift!
I love this, My nursing just got hit by it in a week or so ago and its spread like wildfire working in this has been insane and so hard in the nursing home especially with Alzheimer's and Dementia residents who are normally confused anyways. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Ty for all that you do!
Can’t even imagine. Thank you for what you do! Stay strong out there!
Oh how heartbreaking. Thank you for all you do for them. Stay safe ❤️
I made it half way through EMT training before I decided trauma wasn't for me... I never even saw trauma but I knew what was coming. I'd rather work on machines instead! Respsect for people who can treat other people while thinking in a technical way. Love that.
Vivaldi never sounded so sweet😂 Welcome back!
awwww thanks Darren!! love that you recognize that it's Vivaldi!
Ikr same
oh mannnn i didn't even think of BOAR!! love it!!
I actually love the transition from light switch off to ad
I've waited so long for this! I love your videos, they're so amazing to watch💜💜
Maybe I'll just address you the way I'd address a solder, "thank you for your service". We love you.
your positivity and calmness is so admirable. you can tell you were born for this job!
Omw, I waited for this video for so long!!
Thank you Siobhan for such great videos!❤❤
I wish you a great career as a Dr. I love watching your videos. You seem so gentle and really want what's best for your patients
Lol i was just thinking you didn’t upload for a while, Glad to have you back!!!!
Yes I was thinking that too!✨♥️
