  • Indie games like Palworld have been blowing them out of the water recently and here's why. Suicide Squad wish they could have the same success.

Very happy to see Palworld to be so successful.
The game ain't my cup of tea but I am really happy to see small studio get this much success and love from the gaming community.

There’s no AI use in the game. It’s been in development for 4+ years (there was a trailer 3 years ago that showed a lot of the game) at least. Before AI was as wide spread as it is. Anything AI could have done, was already done before AI started gaining traction. Everyone is just mad at the fact that the CEO was excited for the future of AI. 2 years ago. On top of all of this, Diehard Pokémon fans are malding at another monster catcher game doing well.

I'll admit it and Idc if I get hate. I work a night shift job, 10-12 hour shifts. I game to relax and have fun. Palworld is fun. Idc about any rumors and allegations. I have the right to spend my own money how i see fit and I'll be damned if I spend 100$ on some pre order bullshit game that feels like a chore. Great vid!

I think more specific to this case, the reason why Pal World is doing so good is because the pokemon audience has a large adult fanbase(as well as an "adult" fanbase) that's been getting ignored to maintain the kids audience, hell even the furry fanbase gets more red meat thrown to it which is kind of fucked up when you think about it.
Then we have Pal World, where you're using guns to hunt and capture the Pals for food and labour. Its just respecting and making a product for the adults which have been largely ignored by the Pokemon series.

Bg3 was made by a small indie studio, did get a huge amount of money to make. They even had to pay in order to be able to use the IP... I guess that's triple A these days?

@@GamingDad What crack are you smoking? Larian Studios has 450 employees and has been around for almost 30 years. They are not 'a small indie studio' lol.
Yes, that is Triple A these days, though it's actually called AAA... by definition, even a 'mid sized company' is AAA. And it has nothing to do with things like being privately owned. AAA just means it's at least a mid sized company. In fact, by some standards, AAA is more defined by the games themselves. When a game is a 'blockbuster' it's considered a AAA game. Developers started being called 'AAA Studios' because they made these massively successful games.

@@1Dark.Paradise.Lost1 I found this definition. "Triple-A games are synonymous with high-end visuals, extensive marketing, and large development teams. In contrast, smaller studios typically develop indie games, focusing on creativity and innovation. Between these extremes lie AA games, which offer a balance of quality and manageable budgets."

ARK Survival Ascended versus Palworld.... yeah no competition when both games share near-identical, if not completely identical, genres and gameplay. For an Early Access title, Palworld had gotten better coverage/marketting, the game is far more accessible and functional, has a low level of needless environmental irritations, and so far has not been involved in shady/questionable behaviors.
WildCard Studios boasted about selling 600,000 units without ever showing how many may have been refunded only to pull a loan not too lng after ASA's release and that game's playercoount has diminished far more significantly and quicker than it's predecessor ARK: Survival Evolved. WildCard also couldn't be more of a polar opposite since they just don't communicate very much or very well at all.
This studio has been doing everything right so far and they communicate frequently and honestly on Twitter (X).Assuming they're charging the same amount for the game on XBOX as they are on Steam 1 unit = 26.99 USD x 4,000,000 units sold totals to around 109 million USD.
I cannot wait for the next quarterly earnings call so i can see just how insane the contrast and how badly WildCard screwed up.

I can tell you why I like it: This game scratches an itch that Ark Survival Evovled usually scratched - survival crafting, creature taming, world exploration, base building. Love that stuff so, so much.
Plus I grew up with pokemon. Blue was my first pokemon game. I'm 35 now and I *yearn* for the pokemon games to be better, to run better, to not grab me by the hand all the time and never let go because duh yeah I know this is for kids but surely, Nintendo knows adults also play this. Let me skip things already, like in a real videogame from the 21st century.
Plus, the sheer chaotic energy of all the nonsense you can do in Palworld is giving me so much joy. See a human npc? Just capture them if you want to. It's funny but nonsensical.
