Love the virtual shifting with Kickr Core and Zwift Play. Trainer is basically silent now. Ability to shift under load means less strain on my drivetrain. Fun hack: for a power boost in sprint, switch from small to big chainring....
Zwift play Virtual shifting has made all the difference for me when racing I am a big fan of it much better for the bike as well. The only thing is the right steering drops out a lot never have a problem with any other equipment so must be weak Bluetooth in them. Don't think it does it with gears odd. Been doing your tiny races which are a damned good idea for us weaker riders though sometimes it's a bit quick between races. Last week I got DQ because Zwift took me out of first race over to start of the second race just before the finish, I think it was because I set a 15 min reminder. Is that the reason why it did it , do you know. I rode all 4 and finished 2/3/4 😊 Anyway it is getting me fitter as I said thanks for a great Idea not many short races out there, I don't have the endurance at the moment after my illness but it is coming back.
Nah, 15 minute reminder is just for your calendar. The game shouldn't pop up a reminder until 1 minute to go (I've got it set to a custom, shorter reminder because of how Tiny Races work). Just gotta watch for that if you're a D-level racer whose races go a bit long! All part of the challenge.
Does any virtual shifting work with the Kickr V5? My bike is fine IRL but the indexing is all wrong on the trainer and I've tried countless times to reseat the bike. Thanks in advance.
Can you push and hold the click to rapidly shift as well? It would be cool to see Zwift implement a similar "quick shift" like my SRAM AXS where a hold of the shifting button jumps +3/-3 as an option.
The only standard KICKR version that currently supports virtual shifting is the latest model (v6, 2022). Zwift says they'll release it to the v5 as well, but no idea on timing. Yours is a v4, though... I doubt it'll happen for that trainer, since it's over 5 years old.

would you think its way better than the classic kicker v5 without the Virtual shifting/?

I like the idea of knowing the gears... Would love for the integration of my KICKR bike in this way...
Yeah, it's baffling that Wahoo's bikes don't have this display in game! The KICKR Bike Shift REALLY needs it, since it has no on-bike display.
Is the positioning of the Zwift controller nicer for shifting than the Zwift click?

very useful, are we getting the zwift cog and click in South Africa
do you have the universal hub? Or does the virtual shifting work with a regular kickr core that has a cassette installed?
Works with either. I actually prefer virtual shifting with a standard cassette, because cassettes are quieter/smoother than the single cog design!

Yes, you can.
I have a kickr 2018 reconditioned plus zwift play . Will it work on my trainer or do I need the click button ? 👍

Is there a firmware update for the v5 Kickr to use virtual shifting with the Zwift Play controllers?
Not yet.
do you think its worthwhile to get the virtual shifting>??
@@ignaciosevil2157 yes. Read my thoughts at zwiftinsider.com/virtual-shifting/
@@ZwiftInsider read em… still if I get to buy a v4 at 500… do you think it’s better to just go for the new?
@@ZwiftInsiderany idea if it’s coming?
Hi, do you know if kickr v5 supports virtual shifting yet?
It does not. But will eventually, once Wahoo releases it.
But you run it on v6?
@@repmortskcab8483 yup.
Zwift need to ship products worldwide before worrying about other trainers! Ridiculous.
Well, I'd say they need to do both. Two very different departments, so why not both? :)
