      I thought the same, until I wanted to use it this winter season and the speed/power data coming from it was not good... Wahoo was able to send me a free replacement unit, even though it was out of warranty, but I did have to wait a total of 5 weeks to get it replaced, with some very slow responses from customer support. I still believe they are one of the best indoor trainers

    I have the Zwift Hub One and is really good as well. However one thing I think Zwift really need to look at is making the Zwift click a rechargeable device instead of having to change the battery as those little screws are a nightmare and over time degrade no matter how well protected. A small upgrade for a big benefit.

    I know they won't do it since they want you to buy an actual product with your money but it should be a shortcut to use since it's literally just up and down. That way we could use virtual shifting however we choose.
    e.g. keyboard, other game controllers, zwift companion touch button on a screen.

      I’ve covered this detail in each of my videos on these products. The Cog is simply a 14T sprocket, so nothing really changes in regard to accuracy. There will be some minor differences due to the flywheel speed being locked to cadence with virtual shifting… but that’s getting deep into the rabbit hole that’ll send people to sleep.

    Thanks for the heads up, tried it today on the Core - great while it worked but will have to try bridging the trainer and Zwift Play on the Companion app as I kept losing the BT connection. Any tips there - am I right in thinking if you use the app to bridge then all BT connections have to be via the app/phone??? I guess the alternative is a USB extension for the BT as well as the exisiting ANT+ one and get a dongle near the trainer and Play?

    • @kiverrussell8369
      @kiverrussell8369 5 месяцев назад

      To answer my own questions - yes, if you use the Companion app to bridge, all BT connections have to be through it. The longer answer was to reposition my router, so as not to "cross the streams" of WiFi and BT (Zwiftalizer have a good vid on this) , to ditch the Companion app as a bridge (was horrible with drops every 10 seconds!) and use the laptop BT for Zwift Play and trainer (necessary for both and for virtual shifting) and connect the power meter/cadence and HRM on ANT+ as normal for me. This resulted in just one, brief drop of virtual gearing around the hour mark of a Pace Partner ride. Suggests my best option for something rock solid would be a BT dongle on an extension cable somewhere between the Play and the trainer, disable the laptop BT to prevent interference and continue using ANT+ with an existing USB extension for everything that doesn't have to be BT (i.e. the Zwift Play and trainer for virtual gearing to work has to be on BT). Simples!

      @@murrayhealey1903 it’s the Zwift Hub. It’s the same damn trainer. And Zwift firmware already allows it so not sure why you can’t make it happen. Either that or release a firmware patch to allow users to flash their units with the Zwift Hub firmware to not penalize those not in EU/UK/US and have access to the Hub and are being forced to buy the Volt instead.

    • @steve-d0
      @steve-d0 5 месяцев назад

      @@gbombos “were” using Jet Blacks hardware.
      Just saw DCR article stating the relationship is dead in the water.
      “Meanwhile, somewhat snuck under the radar of today’s news of the new Zwift/Wahoo trainer, is that Zwift is officially discontinuing the Zwift Hub. That trainer was launched barely 18 months ago in October 2022, and then revamped in October 2023 with the Zwift Hub One (containing the Zwift Cog). At that point the existing cassette-enabled Zwift Hub got renamed to the Zwift Hub Classic (and promptly discontinued).
      As of today, both variants are now officially discontinued, and Zwift will continue to sell off units till stocks are depleted. It’s been on sale the last few weeks with a “till supplies last” note, causing some confusion. Your confusion is now clarified.
      This would mark the shortest smart trainer lifespan I’m aware of, a mere 4 months for the Zwift Hub One. Of course, its legacy lives on with the new KICKR CORE Cog, that takes the Cog and Click elements.
      This also means that JetBlack and Zwift’s previous manufacturing partners are out of the mix. JetBlack is still making a fan for Zwift, as well as a trainer table. Both of which I’ve been meaning to finish my reviews on. They’re both a good price-value compromise.”
      Which means I call BS from Jet Black about future updates and we are basically stuck being told to buy a Kickr Core within the next 2 years before the Volt devices are obsolete. (Probably take them that long to release any firmware updates at their current rate).

    Hi Shane, thanks for the video. I have two questions: 1) when you say it needed a few "spin downs", how did you do this exactely? My understanding is with the firmware update, the spanner option is no longer available to perform a spindown through Zwift. 2) Is your front axle higher than the rear axle with that front wheel holder? I thought the Core's just have the front wheel on the ground to keep it level. Thank you
