Legs didn't feel great today. Hung with the front group until the final draggy climb up through the Slot Canyon, where I fell off the back. But me and teammates pulled it back in to rejoin the front for the final sprint!

After looking a my previous 10min best effort of 294 back in January I am planning on trying to hold 300 when I do this test and hearing you say the algorithm of x0.862 I did the math and 300w x 0.862 comes out exactly right for my current recently improved ftp 👍 will need to do my normal pre race warm up before attempting this though

A feature that is not needed 😅 , I'd rather have custom loadout where you can save 4 present for your rides , and have them ready for you to pick. So if u want to do hill or race them, you pick the loadout for that ride and not having to find it all , it should include outfits too😅
Love the shake effect. Gives a sense of disorientation like IRL. Any little extra physics simulations are welcome. Good for those that don't like it but maybe a slider to turn it up :)

Have you tried that in first person? I got the update and forgot to set that, finished my ride and when I went to set it, it was already enabled but I was still getting the shakes!

what do you think. is the number of watts you get from this test more accurate for a 40min effort or 60min effort? in my opinion these kind of tests do exagerate a little and holding the watts you get most people couldnt hold constantly for an hour.
ooh thats a clear off for me. shaking visually makes no sense as this does not happen IRL either.
Your body and bike may shake IRL, but your eyes and brain are pretty good at stabilisation 😅 That'll be off for me to make it realistic!!!

Wow, that was a CAPITAL effort! Well done, to hang in there without using the bias-setting. Also a good reminder for me that I need to set my FTP to match my current fitness level in stead of my target level.

Not yet, and it's been... 4 hours? Odd.
@ the whole thing has been buggy unfortunately. I received 3 emails after the Elevation workout. 10 sec, 1 min and 10 min power had been taken from the workout! I haven’t done the final test because I didn’t know what I had to do. I was waiting for you to explain it. Hopefully Zwift learn from all the mistakes because it’s got potential.

I feel like the two button controller could be easy to replicate as a universal controller. Im not an engineer, but it would likely need bluetooth and up down buttons to communicate in game. Then you set your rear cassette to the middle gear and voila you replicated the zwift cog plus clicker for cheaper. Plus if there was a universal clicker, you could use it for other virtual cycling. Any engineers want to chime in? I have already seen schematics for the cog housings for a 3d printer and you just beed to add your 14t cog in the middle.
It might be interesting to elevate your front wheel 7% and see if it affects your power
I found this session a complete waist of time due to no free ride lead in before the sprints and waaaay too much unproductive ride time. Can't remember the last time I was so cold on my trainer!
Agreed on the early ERG change again to setup the interval correctly- especially since the way I pace a maximal 60 second effort is to pop up to 90ish % max effort in the first 10 seconds, then settle in around 80% and hold-on for dear life the rest of the way. Doing it straight out of ERG just kills that first 15-seconds and leaves you trying to negative split the effort which is far less effective. Either way though, around 30 seconds in, it's always going to pretty much feel like the longest minute ever 😂😂 As to ZRS, I suspect you'll get promoted up to 520-690 fairly quickly just by ZRS score adjustments from racing. Going to zrCS was the best outcome possible. It's a solid compound score that will get people in the right general area and then the score system can move them about based on results.
Zwift literally drops my score down from 556 to 468 . 😅
Everyone’s scores changed this week. Twice! Mine went from 671 to 485 to 501.

Zwift Ride play controllers aren't the same as the standalone Zwift Play controllers.
@ZwiftInsider well.... my HR and both controllers worked with my Apple TV and my Kickr Move (connected over WiFi)

Sadly doesn't work with Zwift play controllers. The left and right controller count for one Bluetooth connection each
Fair play putting down those watts. Your bike on the trainer does seem to move around a bit, do you think youre there any watts through that to gain if you could stabilise it? Ive always wondered how much my bike moves when im sprinting standing
My bike moves because it's on a rocker plate. :-) I much prefer out of the saddle work with more natural side to side movement vs the unnatural movement you get with a static setup. Are there watts to gain? Debatable. I tend to think you can make more watts with a rocking setup, since your upper body can pull the bike against your downstroke leg, effectively increasing power by recruiting more muscles. (That's why people sprint out of the saddle outdoors, after all...)

It would! The hard part for me is putting out maximal power both with and without a plate. It takes me some riding to get used to riding with or without one... different sprint technique for sure.

Did you manualy turn off ERG mode in the part before the freeride? I did the ride with the Zwift Click but it dit not show the gears when I entered the 15sec freeride. Thanks
Yes, I manually turned it off.
I was wondering if it releases you from ERG mode 10 seconds before the free ride where it says “start increasing your cadence” In your first test you tabbed straight into the section, so missed the ‘lead in’ sector
It doesn't release you into free ride mode until the free ride section begins.

On the Zwift Academy 2024 Pro Potential Prologue workout/test, Zwift put in a 1 minute free ride interval and then some text about getting into the right gear and preparing for the sprint right before the 30 second unbounded free-ride test sprint. That was a very elegant way to setup the test interval and make sure people could nail it. That same 1-minute unbounded interval and instruction before the first 15 second would be welcome here. I'll end up doing exactly what you did and taking it off ERG at the tail end of that first 3-minute interval but this would be better handled if they setup the workout with that same brief 1-minute free-ride section right before that first test interval as they did before. At least the second two 15-second intervals have free-ride before them here so that's something.

How do you get the gear number to show on zwift? Mine only shows intensity percentage
In a structured workout it won't show the gear (unless you're in a free ride section). Do just a normal free ride or event and you'll see the gearing, assuming you have virtual shifting enabled.
Hi Eric! Great video and you’ve given me hope. I have the Zwift Ride (ZR) bundle. I’ve tried this technique but when I try to connect my ZR using the network connection it doesn’t appear. My setup is an Apple TV connected via WiFi down in my garage. Unsure if that matters. Any advice? Thanks!
I have the same issue. My ATV hardwire is connected to my TV… I only show the one option for the Bluetooth connection to the KICKR.
@ I have done EXTENSIVE research on this and there are things in these videos they are leaving out (important details). I.e. You can ONLY use the direct connection IF you have a trainer that supports it (and the Kickr Core does not). You can ONLY use a dongle IF you have a trainer with an Ethernet port to plug it into (kickr core does not). When you purchase the Zwift Ride it comes standard with the Kicr Core trainer without the option to upgrade to one of the other Kickr trainers. Now I have to use my phone to connect my controllers, trainer, & hrm. I even tried to connect the hrm and trainer first then connect the controllers via the game controller option in the Apple TV but that didn’t even work. Without the controllers connected, you can’t shift gears. Frustrating but it’s limitations of the ZR platform
