I like how you talked about the “volume vs. definition” issue. I used to think there was one combination of products that would produce one best look for my hair, but then I realized curly hair is so cool because not only does it sometimes have a mind of its own depending on environmental and body chemistry factors, it also looks cool styled many different ways, and it’s fun to just play with products and techniques depending on how much time and energy you have on a given day, and what you want to emphasize.
If you haven't cut your hair yet, try air drying for 10-20 minutes (depending on how thick your hair is) and then defuse upside down. Try not to touch your hair while air drying.
first of all can i just say that this is super duper helpful (for someone getting used to their curls like me lol) but your aesthetic is so nice?? like with the music and stuff it's just pretty!
thank you for this!! i’ve always straightened my hair bc i thought my curly hair was just annoying/unmanageable, but i’ve been wearing it natural lately (since i’m stuck in quarantine obviously) and i actually really like it now! :)
I love how hoy highlighted some mistakes you made. Is really easy to mess up with curly hair and it's cool to see I'm not the only one who thinks their hair is dry when is not :-)

Hi. I love this video. I used to have a "manageable" curls but after I gave birth, my curls have changed and now I'm starting to check on routines, products and other stuff that could help. Thank you for sharing the products you've used. May I also know what type and brand of blower did you used. Thank you so much.
Wow,here in Brazil, we did our routine really different! Some stuffs we do like you do, but others don't! I have the same hair too ♡ Ps: sorry for my bad english and some mistakes, I don't use Google translator!
Your hair is so pretty! And you've gained a new subscriber :) My hair is 2b/2c with the occasional 3a and it used to be 3a when I was younger and i'm on a journey to healthier hair bc I used to straighten it a lot and brush quite harshly when my hair was dry. I feel like I never used to appreciate my hair and I am starting to love my hair now :))
You've made me so happy because my hair is the same as yours but I don't have a routine so my hair is just always frizzy and slightly ratty. Thank youuu I can actually start looking after my curls now that I know that they'll turn out nice x
im not sure if anyone else commented this, but have you tried applying your creams, defining with the denman brush and then scrunching your gel in instead of racking the gel? ive started this recently on my 3b hair and i love the results!
3a curly girls unite (finally)!!! ive struggled trying to find a routine that works for me but you have the same curl pattern as i do!! ill definitely be trying this. my only worry is using gel, does that gel make your hair crunchy? thank you so much for this!
Ahh thank you so much for this!! Im 16 and ive just started getting used to and taking much better care of my curls than i used to! Also Aussie going cruelty free is awesome!! Im vegan too so thats good to know🥺
Wow this video is useful- recently through quarantine, I’ve been trying to embrace my natural hair. I’m the only girl in my family with really curly hair in the 3c range so I wasn’t given girly hair advice as a kid. Instead I would brush my hair dry and religiously straighten it to try and gain control. It’s been 2 months now trying to undo a life time of bad hair choices. My hair would usually dry uneven with pieces ranging from 3c to 2b. I’ve bought the products but didn’t know how to use mousses and sprays and styling products... until now! Your advice is needed- thank you 😊
You have my exact hair. I only started trying to fix my curls (literally four days ago). I had frizzy, awful hair my whole life and I actually like it for once which is weird. Anyway, I'm going to start following your steps (especially because I'm vegan too)! What do you suggest for hair getting crunchy? Since I may not be able to afford the products you use immediately I'd like my hair to not do that.
Pathfinder Kat it’s good for your hair to get crunchy after putting in gel or an occlusive! When it dries you have to “scrunch out the crunch.” (or diffuse) My hair always turns out super soft and voluminous after a massive amount of scrunching.
Ugh so my hair might be a lost cause, i tried this routine and it looked nice at first it was a little crunchy in some places but thats cause i think i used too much gel, but its only been a few hours and they already fell out and are all frizz 🙁
my front pieces and roots are straighter but the bottom layer in the back is the same as yours. i get layers and i use curling hair wash and leave in conditioner but nothing seems to work. i’m thinking abt getting curtain bangs
I'm vegan too but I hate when companies market as "cruelty free." No such thing as cruelty free when actual human workers (who are often people of color, undocumented, and/or from developing countries if the product is not made in the US) are being exploited for their labor!!!
I literally have no idea what my hair type is. i thought it was 2c/3a but my curls look tighter than yours but they also look too loose to be 3b but too tight to be 2c/3a 😭 and it doesn’t look like it could jus be 3a either sooo???
nikki estefania I feel the same way! I have no idea if my hair is anywhere from 2b to 3a because I don't have a good routine so I can never tell. normally I'll wash it and it seems like a solid 2c once it's dry but then it loses all shape by that night, and then on some days it's definitely 3a. I'm definitely going to try this to see what it does for me 😅
Same curl pattern here. Ive damaged mine many ways over the past 15yrs. Bleach....perms lol....and blow drying or straightening it everyday. Im growing it out now. Dyed it black so I cant bleach it. Just trying not to use as much or no heat on it now. I wanna see my true curl pattern for once. Your childhood photos were so relatable. I feel I have the same hair type as you, maybe more 2c though. What deep treatments do you use if any?
I cut my hair a bit shorter yesterday so i can try to get 'better' curls (i think i have type 2c/2a hair) - now i'm trying to get products that will work best. :)
So first off your really pretty and we literally have the same hair and I'm so glad I found you. I literally subscribed when I watched this video and started watching your other video on your channel. Keep up the awesome work😊. Again your really pretty
I have the same curl pattern as you but no matter what my frizz is horrible 😔 and I'm honestly a little intimidated by volume still I mean I ruined my hair in 7th grade I would straigten it everyday n now I have no idea what to do or where I should start w my hair also ur adorable
I was born with a blonde Afro and as I got older I started dying and damaging my hair and I lost my curl pattern but now I’m learning to love my curly hair I have 3a curls now ✨
We have the same type of hair and a I have a question, do you have a significant amount of fallout after washing your hair? And also do your curls in the back of your hair have a hard time curling up? And lmao one more question what do you recommend for straight roots but curly ends?
hey im not OP but i have around the same hair type as her- i definitely struggle with less curl in the back and crown, i dont think its indicative of damage or anything, just some natural variation (plus hair in the back is usually shorter so might not have enough length to curl yet!).For straight hair at the roots i find styling upside down (w hair brushed forward up from the scalp), plopping, and switching the part few times while drying will help
1. Do you have highlights or something in your hair? It looks gorgeous, just like you, by the way! 2. Can you do a makeup tutorial if you haven't? If you have, can you point me in the direction of it? Thanks! Love you videos
👋🏻 Gigi! What kind of shampoo, conditioner do you use? Also do you use weekly treatments. If so what? We also have similar curl patterns. My hair loves protein, lightweight products. Just curious if yours is same.
Could you tell me if the Cantu gel has a fragrance to it? I'm looking for a max hold gel that doesn't have a fragrance to it or if it does one that's super mild and basically non detectable and hoping this could be it cause it sounds perfect 😊
hi gigi! if its not too much work for you, can you do another of what you eat in a week (or day) as a vegan? i really need inspo bc im also vegan. plz :))). ty! have a great day!!
I also buy cruelty products & plant based foods. Do you know if Cantu is cruelty free? I avoided buying their products bc I thought they weren’t. I appreciate any info. First video I’ve seen of yours. Love getting tips from so many vids out there, so thank you very much!
I just went to the Cantu website and it says they don’t test final product on animals, so I assume other ingredients maybe in the beginning are or maybe if they deal with China. Kind of a gray area. I’m going to email them. Anyway, just wanted to give you a heads up. I go by a lot of things PETA gives the green light to as well.
gmv def one of my favs!! I usually only wash/style one time a week, at most 2! My hair doesn’t get oily so I can get away with it. I refresh it everyday tho and I have another video on refreshing!!!
I find if I use a lot of products like that my hair gets weighed down and gross/dirty really quickly, BUT I may try this gel of urs! I'm also 3A and I get so confused on what to do with my hair. I'll find things and then I'll be like nah akdjsjs. But thanks so much, maybe MAAAYBE I'll be able to use as much product as you and still have nice hair someday!🤗✌️😋
9melissal do you have any vegan curl cream recommendations? Or any vegan hair product recommendations? Lol I need to buy new products after devacurl but it’s hard to find cgm approved ones that are also cf and vegan
@@helena-boateng shea moisture isn't actually creulty free anymore unfortunately. And a lot of there products have beeswax, keratin and silk aminos etc. that aren't vegan. @Marina Cover I love Uncle Funky's Daughter curly magic and Camille Rose Naturals curl maker which is what i use regularly. Some good brands as well are Jessicurl, Kinky Curly, As I Am, Miss Jessie's, Curls, Mop Top, and Not Your Mother's Naturals. They are all creulty free and most of them are totally vegan.
Omfg I love this video thank you!!!! First of all you’re adorable and second of all We have the same hair so I am super excited to try this wholeeeeee routine
This is the same hair pattern as mine but whenever i used more than one product my hair just gets weighed down and looking greasy. If i used this much product my hair looks wet and gross and flat. And every time i try to defuse it it goes puffy, loses the curls and i get insane amount of frizz. Someone help me out 😫
hi, definitely try a GEL product. a gel that makes a cast but then you can remove it. try cantu hair gel. look up tutorials on how to fingercoil with gel. it will define your hair, but not make it greasy. you need to let it air dry for maybe 10-20 minutes depending on how fast your hair dries once it's more DAMP, diffuse with pixie method (please google a tutorial for this, it is an important step of diffusing) diffuse with your hair in a middle part or with your head turn kind of upside down (this will make your hair more big and have volume) to avoid more frizz, make sure youre not moving the diffuser too often. you should wait at last 60 seconds.
Ok but when do you get up? Because my friends already call my shower routine in the morning crazy and long even though I only take like 30-40 minutes with my hair. But seeing this I think my hair would have much more potential
im actually blessed to have curly hair and I don’t even notice the potential my curls can have. Thanks for opening this new window for me 🥺

Katherine Lopez Munoz sameee but ive been trying to grow my hair for forever, idk if i have the guts to cut it

you are so pretty💘
My hair is way to thin to put all that product in and make that big of ringlets. But gosh I wish I could!!
hi gigi! if its not too much work for you, can you do another of what you eat in a week (or day) as a vegan? i really need inspo bc im also vegan. plz :))). ty! have a great day!!
Your curls are so beautiful 💜💜 how long does it take for you to diffuse your hair?
idk if youll see this 😬 but could you recommend one or two cheap products for 3a hair?
Im so glad i found ur channel : D
AllwaysDryxD welcome pixie!! 💞💞💞
I also buy cruelty products & plant based foods. Do you know if Cantu is cruelty free? I avoided buying their products bc I thought they weren’t. I appreciate any info. First video I’ve seen of yours. Love getting tips from so many vids out there, so thank you very much!
Michelle Beckham i thought they werent either but according to PETA they are and I trust them!! Ty sm💘💘im glad it was helpful
Gigi MW, oh awesome! Now I can try their products. Thanks so much!
Michelle Beckham of course!! I’m so happy you care 💞💞💞
Michelle Beckham yes pls let me kno! Ty
did the gel cast just come out through diffusing? I find i have to scrunch with a t-shirt to get my gel cast out
purhpelveggie mine mostly comes out when diffusing but I do sometimes have to scrunch more!!
LOVE your earrings! Where are they from?
Dahlia free people!!
@@gigimw Thanks! 😘
I have 3a hair as well and I also love the SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus shampoo & conditioner too! So good. How often do you wash/style your hair?
gmv def one of my favs!! I usually only wash/style one time a week, at most 2! My hair doesn’t get oily so I can get away with it. I refresh it everyday tho and I have another video on refreshing!!!
unrelated but ur voice reminds me of vanessa hudgens’
leah richards omg ur like the 5th person to say that this is so funny ty
oh my god i legit thought that too!!
I say Selena Gomez :o
I find if I use a lot of products like that my hair gets weighed down and gross/dirty really quickly, BUT I may try this gel of urs! I'm also 3A and I get so confused on what to do with my hair. I'll find things and then I'll be like nah akdjsjs. But thanks so much, maybe MAAAYBE I'll be able to use as much product as you and still have nice hair someday!🤗✌️😋
CAT KH ooo Ima try using less products!!!
The squish is how you know you have enough product in your hair
how dong does your hair stay with nice volume and curls? two days? idrk how to phrase my question lol
Caitlin Weber usually 2 days yes!! I’m coming out with a refreshing hair routine rlly soon as well
Just so you know the not your mother's curl talk cream isn't vegan either. It's cruelty free but not vegan.
9melissal omgggg i didn’t know that
9melissal do you have any vegan curl cream recommendations? Or any vegan hair product recommendations? Lol I need to buy new products after devacurl but it’s hard to find cgm approved ones that are also cf and vegan
Marina Cover I really like the desert essence curl cream and also cake beauty has some curly hair products.
Marina Cover shea moisture 🤗 just look for the ones without honey then they’re all vegan
Gigi, do you still recommend using Jamaican black castor oil if I’m going natural grey? B.T.W. you forgot to add oil to your link.
11:39 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 when you do one little thing differently, you ruin your hair and you regret it until the next washday
MY HAIR LOOKS SOOOOO MUCH BETTER FOLLOWING THIS
This is the same hair pattern as mine but whenever i used more than one product my hair just gets weighed down and looking greasy. If i used this much product my hair looks wet and gross and flat. And every time i try to defuse it it goes puffy, loses the curls and i get insane amount of frizz. Someone help me out 😫
hi, definitely try a GEL product. a gel that makes a cast but then you can remove it. try cantu hair gel.
look up tutorials on how to fingercoil with gel.
it will define your hair, but not make it greasy.
you need to let it air dry for maybe 10-20 minutes depending on how fast your hair dries
once it's more DAMP, diffuse with pixie method (please google a tutorial for this, it is an important step of diffusing)
diffuse with your hair in a middle part or with your head turn kind of upside down (this will make your hair more big and have volume)
to avoid more frizz, make sure youre not moving the diffuser too often. you should wait at last 60 seconds.
How often do you wash your hair type??
I do not know :( I am to curly for 2c but to wavy for 3a
Ok but when do you get up? Because my friends already call my shower routine in the morning crazy and long even though I only take like 30-40 minutes with my hair. But seeing this I think my hair would have much more potential
Do you know if everything is curly girl approved? Like the curly girl method does any of the products have sulfates parabens or silicones?
Jehlani i’m pretty sure the not your mothers curl talk line is cgm approved and i think cantu is too but i’m not 100% abt cantu
Alyssa V Okay thank you that’s what I thought too I wasn’t really sure thought but thank you 🙏🏼 :))
i don’t think aussie is
Jehlani i think most of it is except for Aussie...I don’t follow the cgm super seriously but I try to get the cleanest products !!
What kind of towel should I use for this type of hair??
This is my curl type but due to heat damage it’s sad rn lol I’m trying to find methods to bring them back 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
