      I had something similar...Except my hair looked like a giant but super soft afro, to big to be cute (and I really mean it, I don't have natural afro hair so it didn't look as good) so my mom would braid it everyday, wich meant brushing it dry every day ;;

      My mom does too, (she’s 41) but she got insecure of her curly hair and I don’t think she knew how to tame it right so, she started straightening her hair a lot and now its like flat straight.
      I have like curly/wavy hair ig you can call it, and my hair was/is a lot like hers where when I would brush it dry, it would just puff. Also, I brush it dry before showers and that’s the only time I do. Should I be doing this?

    • @meghannunez8720
      @meghannunez8720 4 года назад

      L . C u should brush ur hair dry bc each hair strand has thousands of bonds and cross links called disulfide bonds. They can be broken with way too much exposure to sunlight, chemical styling, and brushing ur hair dry. So plz don’t do that. I suggest finger detangling ur hair dry but using an oil, that doesn’t damage ur hair. U can always finger detangle in the shower, but if u want something a little more simple, just finger detangle dry but with oil🙂

    i feel like so many curly girls have had the same experience in the past ! my mom too used to always brush my curly hair, blow dry it, i too hated my voluminous hair and wished it was thinner, i thought that there was something wrong with my hair too and that the only way to tame it was to straighten it so i've been straightening it since middle school till like a month ago (i'm about to graduate from university so i did it for a pretty long time) and right now i'm finally getting to know and LOVE my hair for the first time in my life , i'm finally discovering my natural curl pattern, learning how to take care of it the right way! so now i'm transitioning and it has been the best month i've spent so far, it suddenly became so much fun and exciting and joyful to take care of my hair, experiment with it, trying out cute hairstyles, showing it off to my friends and family! and i suddenly discovered this HUGE curly hair community that i never knew existed before. I'm so grateful

    Yesterday I decided last minute that I wasn't going to blow dry my hair and instead I would cut some dead ends. Turns out that I was very lazy and left it air drying. After an hour I went to see myself on the mirror and i was shocked with how my hair was gorgeous (I damaged it with bleach so it was never defined, I honestly don't know what I did specifically yesterday that it came out really pretty). I decided to take care of it and your video gave me hope of returning to my natural beautiful curls, thank you.

    I've had curls all my life too. But I've always brushed my hair... When I was little and had super silky hair, it was fine, but then in the 6th and 7th grade my hair was super frizzy and puffy every day. I used to cry about my hair and my mother, who always had very short hair, gave me the tip to brush my hair even more often. Phew... In the 8th grade I developed a special technique to straighten my hair with silicone oil and stretching. Now I'm in the 9th grade and I care my hair intensively since then. I wear my hair more and more curly. However, most of the people where I live have only straight or slightly wavy hair and I have the feeling that my hair is only accepted as curly if it is perfectly defined and shiny...

    Sad because my hair used to be extremely curly when I was a toddler, then was pin straight in kindergarten. Then from 5th grade to 7th grade it was curly again, but I started messing with it a bunch because I wanted to be emo. It’s extremely healthy now at 22 but the curl pattern has completely changed and I just have big loose ringlets. I miss having curls, and my sister and brother BOTH have hair like yours. I’ve been considering trying different product in my hair and seeing if that doesn’t bring back some of the curls I had before. But they might be gone forever 😭 curly Jewish hair was always grounds for anti-semitism in the past, but it feels right to take that back. I wish dark hair and curl positivity was a thing when we were in middle school, but I’m happy to know it’s getting so much more love now. anyway, I love your hair and I’m so glad you’re in love with your curls as well! ✨

    Both my parents had curly-ish hair, mostly my mom. My mom is 50 and she's kinda getting the idea of how to take care of her curls, but she's not strict abt it like me. I started my curly hair journey when I was 13 1/2 (more like when I was 14). I started to want curly hair bc most of my life I had wavy straight hair, but then it started getting straight and losing its form, so i started hating my hair. I wanted it wavier like it was when I was little. So I started to want my waves back. Then in 8th grade, I started to think that I didn't want to leave my hair down, I ALWAYS left it down and I wanted to change my style. So I started to watch videos on howto curl ur hair without heat (because I didn't want to damage my hair), so then I did that once a month, then once a week, then I started doing that twice a week, then I basically started doing it EVERYDAY. I had so much hair loss, I still have it to this day and I literally stopped doing that a while ago. But when I was a baby, I had some curls (like 2c/3a curls) and my mom didn't know how to take much care of it, so I look back at my baby pics and I have A HECK TON of frizz (sorta). I always had like 1c/2a waves (sometimes even like slight 2b waves). But of course later in my curly hair journey, I started using DevaCurl. 5 months after using it, I started having SO MUCH hair loss, I still have it to this day and I stopped using DevaCurl in January and it's May now!! I don't know what to do now I'm trying to find remedies for my hair loss, and I can't. I'm still not quit satisfied with my curl pattern, I wish I had like 3a/3b-ish curls. I do have that it's just that when I air dry my hair, it doesn't turn out the way it does when I diffuse it, it comes out like loose. I also can't air dry my hair without product because it turns out almost the same as it was when I was little, so basically my hair isn't curly, and that makes me depressed and wanting to shave my head. But all I can say is that this is a big struggle and that I need Olaplex or something, hopefully my hair would have a tighter curl pattern if I used Olaplex.

    girl I am SUBSCRIBING. we have literally gone through the same phases. I was bullied in elementary school and started straightening my hair to fit in, and the fact that I stuck with it for like 7 years afterwards is so sad! I also had that phase where I straightened the top part of my hair only, that really made me smile. I started embracing my curls last summer when I had shorter hair, but then I started straightening it again in the winter because it's hard to deal with and because I still feel a lil insecure about them:( but seeing you embrace them is so inspiring!! thank you so much for this, I hope I can feel like this sometimes soon as well:)

Probably because can’t tell if I’m putting on too little product as I’m afraid to be too much on 😅 I have 3a/b (and maybe a bit of 2c??) going on, but my hair is more fine than thick so it’s a time and a half trying to get the right stuff for my hair but not weighing it down or making it too oily before day 3

    This is so so similar to my story except I never straightened my hair that often, my mom has straight hair and my dad has kinky hair (eventually bald LOL) so no one knew how to take care of my hair and it literally looked so wack until I was 15 and found vids on RUclips. now I’m in my quarantined senior year of hs and have literally maximized my curls by nOT using products (cuz I don’t wanna waste them since I’m not going anywhere 😭) but I’ve never loved my curls so much

    I am still struggling with curly hair, and being the only girl that has curly hair that leaves it fluffy is hard...yes there is gurls who have curly hair but they straighten it and I grew up in an environment where ur “supposed” to straighten your curly hair......now that I’m older and well knowing and now in a loving 🥰 family that has adopted me I’ve learned to love my hair. 🥺
    Although it was hard growing up being mixed (being Asian and black) and it was confusing to find myself...it will always get better and remember that! And ur gorgeous if you have straight, wavy, curly, or fluffy hair!!! Ur beautiful the way you are and NO ONE is going to let u believe that PERIODT. 😊

    I’ve always wished I had curly hair. my mom has curly hair and I was always so jealous of it. my hair wasn’t ever curly but it wasn’t smooth or pin straight. usually ill straighten my hair everyday but in quarantine I haven’t been doing it and I got some waves, now im thinking my hair is wavy or curly because it’s always been so big and frizzy and today when I got out of the shower i scrunched my hair a little bit, and it has some tight waves and spiral curls, like 2c/3a type curls, should I start caring for my hair like it’s curly ?

    When I was younger my hair was so frizzy and I was so embarrassed about it so I started straightening it almost every day from 6th-12th grade. I also never cut it because my hair grew so slow, didn’t realize it was from all the damage. I stopped straightening it when i got to college and realized my hair was actually kinda curly (i’m somewhere between a 3a and 3b) I decided to go natural during quarantine and gave my long hair the infamous big chop (about 10 inches) and ever since my hair has done a 180 it’s amazing!!

    Uhm just want to share my journey to straight hair to curly to staright then to curly. enjoy :) ,so when i was in elementary from kidergarten to 2nd grade i had straight hair then in my 3rd grade i decided to cut my hair when days have passed my hair started to get curly and puffy and frizzy a lpt of things happend to my hair,so from then one my hair was just like that since the 7th grade. In my elementary days i would always do a ponytail because i was so afraid that my classmates would bully me for having that kind of hair so so in beginning of 8th grade i decided to straighten my hair like a brazillian rebond and oh i was so happy then that i have straight hair but when months passed is started get curly ;( i thought i was gonna have a staright hair forever but no, so it just got curly from the roots like 3 inches so i was like thats it imma straighten my hair again i thought from the second time i rebonded my hair, will stay straight forever but... no it got curly again so this is when i realized that why not have curly hair? Why not let it be so i let it be, Btw im still in the 8th grade now soon to be a 9th grader so yeah i was thinking about cutting hair so that the flow of my curls will just go on smoothly (pls God make it smooth) and my curls are not like your's gigi like those spirals and perfectness mine is like a wavey curly tornado kinda stuff mixed together so i now decided to follow you i will cut ny hair, air dry it use products for curly hair and wait so i just want to thank you for giving me hope in having a beautiful curly hair. ♡♡♡
    I'll update you guys on what happend to my hair after 3 months haha

    growing up ive had really pretty small tiny waves (3-5 year old) and my aunt cut it and it got really frizzy and i would always straighten it but then i stopped cuz my hair was damaged and not growing anymore so i got a chop and started to take care. throughout middle school i started to use products and it was really pretty (just some waves nothing big) then i started straightening it again and ruined it so i chopped it off and started using better shampoos and conditioners and creams and it looks really pretty but still a little damaged

    ugh middle school with curly hair was a nightmare. my mum's hair is maybe a 2a and she straightens it every day (without heat protectant??? for 20 years????) and my dad keeps it short enough that it doesn't matter so noone taught me how to take care of my hair (3a/b). it was so long and i was so uncomfortable with it that i used to just put it into a bun and leave it there for months on end. and it would be super gross and mouldy and i'd have to spend hours getting this huge knot undone with no leave in and a fine tooth comb. my parents wouldn't let me cut it short until high school, by which point i'd had a keratin treatment done and i had to transition it out. honestly i'm so lucky i found curly hair youtube, otherwise i might still be trying to brush my hair dry and wondering what's wrong with me.
    (i'm doing so much better now btw, my hair is still short and i'm working on having a proper system set up to keep it healthy. and yes, i do have mould poisoning now, don't do what i did)
