What gentle genius. Both Beethoven's wonderful opus 101, and the wonderfully light, translucent interpretation and performance by Horowitz. Genius on so many levels. Thankfully it's recorded for posterity .. and thank you for sharing this. Art does not get much better.
In most Beethoven(s thirb manner works, mood is changing at every moment. Horowitz is xtremelu careful to all these sudden changes. His interpretation is astonishing. The best that I ever heard.
@@wolfgangklofat594 Yes, you are a bit severe but right. Richer's rendering is absolutely outstanding. We v can now get and listen to Yves Nat's rendering,. He was also outstanding in Beethoven and Schumann. Note that during the omatic pariod, the so(called "thr ird manner" of Beethoven was not understood at all, except by Schumann & Brahms on one side, Liszr and Wagner in a quite personal way...Wagner was Wagner ...) on the other side. Cheers.
His performance gets a little sloppy around the 17:23 mark, but to be fair, that is one of the most difficult passages in all the Beethoven piano sonatas.
I was privileged to hear him perform this sonata in Boston in the 80s. He also performed the Chopin Polonaise Fantasy in that program.
The pedal use in the adagio section is very original and imaginative
Played with great sensitivity and attention to voicing. Brings tears to my eyes.
Thanks very much for uploading it! It's a very fine interpretation of the sonata.

But he misses the whole of the sonata - the architecture: You´ll find it e.g. in Richter´s interpretation of Moscow 1965...

Hi,
I liked only the interpretation of the second and third movement. I heard minor mistakes (??).
Live performance!

Live performance.
If you can't sit in a chair for 20 minutes without coughing, you should not be attending piano recitals. Just get up and leave.
The Voe absolutely. Absolutely 100% animals.
