One of the best Chopin Sonata 2s along with Rachmaninoff, Cortot, and Hofmann roll... the fourth movement is perfection.

An outstanding rendition, no doubt! I must say, though, it always surprises me how Sergio Fiorentino, a titan in his own right, so often gets overlooked in these discussions

I like the patience in the playing of the great Sonata! It is interesting how notes are accented for the last movement - I hear things that I previously don't!

Honestly why I avoid playing Chopin. Everyone’s so judge about your tempi and rubato. Play a more obscure work no one knows and they don’t complain.

Not within multiple orders of magnitude when compared to Rachmaninoff in this masterpiece, in my opinion. I have been generally very unimpressed by Godowsky's recordings, especially given his reputation. He was known to have an aversion for recording and asked that he not be judged by them. I think he was right about that.

Rachmaninoff himself held Godowsky in very high regard

@@chester6343 doesn't mean he played well while recording, which i find not as well as the likes of others.
it's most likely due to his high level of stage fright, as he always experienced while playing in public and recording.
hofmann allegedly told chasins to "never forget" what sound godowsky made while playing for them but that's because he was playing for friends
