Everything just feels right. La campanella sounds like a bell ringing, un sospiro feels like someone is taking a short breath, and la leggerezza feels very volatile but clean. I love this
His La campanella is magical, perfect singing line but laid back Un Sospiro, and in the Gnomenreigen, you can hear the Dance of the Gnomes and perfect evenness in the 16th notes.
I would usually hate on la Campanella, but godowsky brings it in a new light. The same way I hated Chopin ballades, especially the first, Hofmann completely changed my mind on it. Truly wonderful.
@@kakoou3362 Those runs are unbelievable. Idk if it has to do with the piano roll or anything, but they don't really sound like piano to me. Supernatural.
@@jamesrockybullin5250 yes, piano almost all piano roll recording tempos are subjective when reproduced, but i think with this in particular, i think tempos were reproduced rather accurately, as the slower section is reproduced coherently

La Leggeirezza in my opinion is his greatest even though it’s just a roll recording. Perfect technique, tone, and conviction.
I never realised there was a time when piano rolls were better option than audio recording.

Hating Chopin's 1st ballade is crazy 😂
@ I disliked it, especially the modern performances.
Godowsky -best ever, as always . .
