    Nice review. My buddy just bought a Dagger 3P and mentioned the vestibule and I was confused as I didnt remember that on my Dagger 3P. Now I understand and see the slight design changes while keeping the name. Will be cool to see them side by side on Mt Shasta this weekend to compare. Thanks and keep up the good videos!

I first got the NEMO Dragonfly 2P Bikepack tent for myself (solo) and the NEMO Dagger OSMO 3P for my husband's birthday for both of us. I just got this tent, its my second Nemo tent (I have a very well used Aurora 2P, I love it, I wanted something super waterproof because all it does is rain all Spring, Summer and early Autumn in Alaska. It makes Washington State look like a desert. The tent -really comes with no directions. You did an excellent review. Its a tent with good head, get the footprint if you get the tent! You get a little hole and your life will be hell. The NEMO footprint cost twice the cost of what I could make with Tyvek but its 100 times quieter. This is a very pretty tent, light, thoughtful design, not so intuitive for an person used to straight tent frames.The color and weight were the reason I bought it as well. I would rather use my weight on the bear keg (3-5 bears for every person in Alaska) and I carry a heavier camp pad (its cold here).

    This was the best overview of the Dagger Osmo that we've watched, nice work! We noticed you commented in another video that you have the MH Skyledge 3 dp. We bought one in 2013 and loved it so much we bought a second as backup/parts after it was discontinued. Hundreds of nights spent in that tent. Curious as to your thoughts on the Dagger Osmo as a replacement that would shave a bit of weight, or what you would recommend?

    • @GIRLplusDOGAdventures
      @GIRLplusDOGAdventures  Месяц назад

      I think if MH updated the Skyledge with today's materials it would be stellar tent! But yes, so the Skyledge I have is the 3P but it's comparable to the 2P sizes of the Dagger. It has very similar footprint (rectangular) and very easy setup. Dagger comes with more bells and whistles and I loved the little windows on the Skyledge, though I had to reseal them after about 5 years because of delamination issues, but also probably why you can't find tents with those windows as well. Both have the Jakes foot attachment, but I don't like how the Dagger is integrated. Definitely a good replacement for the Skyledge IMO.

    • @GIRLplusDOGAdventures
      @GIRLplusDOGAdventures  Год назад +1

      I rocked a Mountain Hardwear Skyledge for 7 years before the Dagger. I also like the REI HalfDome Plus but it's definitely too big for just Remy & me, but a good value for weight and space. My fav tent is now for just 1+ (dog) backpacking is the NEMO Dragonfly. I love the Dagger for a true 2P tent though so if I go with another person I'll take the Dagger because of the easy set up and rectangular floor.

    @timjkinney3472 Год назад

    20% off last - noticed a sale at a large outfitter store - of course! My local favorite store match the price.
    Wish I had bought the footprint- your review suggests can put the fly up first so I'll get the footprint and try that tomorrow!!!
    That's a huge value as this will be my go-to tripping tent hopefully the next 10 years
    Kayak tripping is my main activity so I went for 3P so if partner or family come along there's lots of room for two or even three
    - weight difference between two and three is negligible (I'm not a backpacker)
    - I went into the store and looked at the sample that was already set up plus the one in the bag and this is very manageable compared to what I've been using

    • @GIRLplusDOGAdventures
      @GIRLplusDOGAdventures  Год назад

      Yeah really it's not that much more for a 3P if you want the room and not a backpacker. Even for a weekend warrior the weight split between 2 people is great.

      The fabric of the tent sack is waterproof but it’s not seam sealed so would be more weather resistant vs 100% waterproof. With the poles out you could probably compress it into a 6-7L dry bag,

    Hi girl, nice presentation of the tent. Do you have any more experience with this tent? How about resistance in wind, rain? And the overall resistance of the material to damage?

    • @GIRLplusDOGAdventures
      @GIRLplusDOGAdventures  Год назад +1

      Hi @Jirka h. Unfortunately, last year I didn't do much backpacking because of severe sciatica so couldn't take out this tent for a good field testing. However, the design itself is very similar to the original Dagger so as far being good in a storm (wind/rain) it is excellent and has good guy-out points. The rectangular design also makes it more stable than one with a trapezoidal design. The new OSMO composite fabric should be more abrasion resistant than the previous fabric. It should be able to handle wind gusts up to 25mph without worry.

    • @jirkah.5068
      @jirkah.5068 Год назад

      @@GIRLplusDOGAdventures Hi girl, thanks for your reply. I know a sore back, it's not worth anything 🙂 I am deciding between this Nemo drager Osmo tent (which does not have an official distributor in our country) and the MSR Hubba Hubba NX 2. Nemo has some details better resolved, but it looks like the MSR will be more durable. It also has better transport dimensions, so it fits better in the trunk of a motorcycle or in a backpack. It will be a difficult decision 😅...

      @GIRLplusDOGAdventures  2 года назад +1

      Ooo tough one! Especially considering you’re on a motorcycle, you don’t need to consider weight. If you want room and easy set up, I’d stick with the Dagger. The fabric is also a tad bit stronger so will hold up better over time.

    • @peek-a-moose2491
      @peek-a-moose2491 Год назад

      If you are on a motorcycle, you don't need a lightweight tent... There are plenty of great options with heavier tents. I still use my old Marmot Swallow tent that weights eight pounds for car camping. Can't beat the space and waterproof qualities and the ventilation. And it is a three - four season tent ... however, it is 18 years old and discontinued. I have just repaired some holes my cat put in the fly. For backpacking, I am using a first generation REI Quarter Dome 2p (discontinued as well) but thinking of getting the 2p dagger or hornet (Osmo)

    • @GIRLplusDOGAdventures
      @GIRLplusDOGAdventures  2 года назад

      I do have both! Are you getting the 2p Dragonfly version? To save weight, would definitely recommend the Dragonfly. The floor length is 88” so you’ll still have plenty of head room as the head area angle is pretty vertical. The Dagger is true 2P so almost too much room if you’re just going solo most of the time.

    What is this like in windy / cold conditions, ie UK for the half the year! MSR and Big Agnes are lightweight also, but not really suitable for the winds we get in the UK in the Autumn. I can see the fly sits quite high above the ground, and is cut back at the ends to provide some venting. My guess it would be damn cold in there at times.

    • @GIRLplusDOGAdventures
      @GIRLplusDOGAdventures  Год назад +1

      It’s actually pretty good in the cold with higher bathtub floors on the ends to help block wind. It’s done pretty well in Colorado high winds but I guy out with rocks so the stakes don’t come loose. Since it has a lot of head space it’s quite tall so can catch a lot of the gusts but I haven’t had issues with it bending so far I think the poles will snap.

    Hi, Can the Dagger be set up with only fly+poles (and possibly footprint)? It would be great to be able to collapse the interior part of the tent under the fly to allow it to be packed in the rain.Thanks in advance!

      @GIRLplusDOGAdventures  Год назад

      Hi- test, the Jake’s feet bottom allows you to set up in Fast Fly mode. You’ll want to make sure the feet are attached to the footprint first if it’s going to rain so then you can quickly set up the fly without having to get your tent wet.

    In the original Dagger 2p, there was no way to fit two 25" wide Nemo Tensor pads side by side. Are you saying the floor dimensions have changed? Were you able to fit two 25" inflatable pads and have them remain on the floor without 'riding up' the side walls or overlapping each other?

    • @GIRLplusDOGAdventures
      @GIRLplusDOGAdventures  2 года назад

      Floor dimensions are the same but I am able to fit them. I’ve had some tents with different tolerance levels where you don’t quite get the total width. Sometimes it’s also the design of the pad where when you blow them up they actually end up being more than 25” wide. If you already have the Dagger, the upgrade you’ll primarily get is the OSMO fabric, gate keeper clips, D style doors and landing zone.

      Hi @Ed Dug- I just measured the poles and they are 19”. So it actually will work because you can place them diagonally in the pannier.

    Can i ask you what’s the main difference between the Dagger and the Dragonfly I’m in the market for a two p tent

    • @GIRLplusDOGAdventures
      @GIRLplusDOGAdventures  Год назад

      Thought I responded to this but looks like I didn’t! Dagger is true 2P tent with a rectangular bottom. Lots of head room and bigger vestibules so it will be heavier because more material is used. Dragonfly is more of a 1+ tent due to trapezoidal base and less head room. Will be lighter though overall.

    • @GIRLplusDOGAdventures
      @GIRLplusDOGAdventures  Год назад +1

      Hi Terry- I thought I replied to this comment but looks like it didn’t post. At time 2:51 I talk a little about Jake’s foot attachment. You can position the tent into fast-fly mode by unclipping the Jake’s foot from the tent and keeping it clipped into the footprint. When you go to set up, you just need to insert the poles into the hole or round insert into the Jake’s foot. You can see this at time 3:07. The greener webbing is the footprint, the yellow-green webbing on the right in the pic is the tent (you can remove independently) and the yellow-green webbing on the left in the pic is the rain fly. Hope this makes sense!

    How many hours does the manufacture say it takes before water gets into the tent ?

    • @GIRLplusDOGAdventures
      @GIRLplusDOGAdventures  Год назад +1

      They usually won’t say the # of hours because of variables involved (water repellency, heaviness of rain, wind, etc). But they’ll give the strength of waterproofness such as 2000mm for the NEMO Dagger vs 1200mm for the Big Agnes Copper Spur. 2000mm is definitely good enough for a 24hr constant rain.
