  • Express LRS is amazing RF tech and EdgeTX is the perfect ground based companion for an ELRS radio system; however, there's more to the RF Link Telemetry settings than you probably think. Let's get under the covers and sort it out.
    UPDATE: Sorry about the math typo on the 100hz Packet Rate LQ10% line. It is indeed 10pps, not 5pps.

    Thanks for the extremely understandable explanations on the subject of RSSI and RXQL. The 40 minutes of concentrated listening were really worth it. 'This is the only way to understand and comprehend the meaning of the many entries in LS and SF. It doesn't get any better! In the end, with the TX and RX switched on, you can see the changes of G3, TPWR, RSSI, etc. directly in the telemetry window if you go in another room that is separated by thick walls. Chapeaux!!!

    sorry if you already explained, but I wonder if EdgeTX has a frequency tuning for ExpressLRS? I have used FrSky and Futaba on openTX, and they need to do a frequency fine tuning. Otherwise, a transmitter will lose their signals in a short distance. Also do you have a video explains throttle setup? Motor will start running by throttle range 1600-2000 so that a half of stick range is wasting. Thanks for your assitance, in advance!

    Trying to apply this to FrSky RX8R Pro RX. Telemetry is + in my TX data. Shows RSSI as around 100dB not a negative number. TQ is the same a positive number. Both numbers go down as you distance grows.

    I'm curious about something: in your "Top 10 ELRS Tips and Tricks on EdgeTX" video, it says to set your RSSI low alarm to 75 and the critical to 65. This video says to use 50 and 20 instead. RUclips says both videos came out "about a year ago" so it seems like they must have been created in the same timeframe. Which set of alarm values is more preferred? It's ELRS and I don't think any of my FPV flights are really pushing the envelope, but it would be nice to have the best settings just in case.

  • @BrunoB99
    @BrunoB99 Год назад

    Thanks for that video. Just to confirm the values for the basic setup, even though it's called RSSI on the EdgeTX telemetry screen, the low and critical values represent the link quality?

    • @RCVideoReviews

      Depends on the protocol. For ELRS, yes, it's LQ.

    Hi John, please could you clarify one thing for me please. If I don't use AUX1(channel 5) as a arming switch will dynamic power still be an option, thank you

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  Год назад +1

      That's a trick question: It will be configurable of course, but as I understand it, will not be turned on until the Rx is armed. You can get around that my putting power on your arming switch.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  Год назад +1

      ELRS uses theoretical sensitivity limits. Crossfire uses 3 RF Modes. So if you can mesh those together using the logic I showed, it should give you a working arrangement. I'm not sure if they report RQLY as the Telemetry sensor or not. Might have to ask the EdgeTX team about that one.

    If RQLY < 20, decrement packet rate 10 hz every 0.5 second. If RQLY > 50 increment packet rate until max = 333.33 hz (does anyone have a script to do this?)

    Does ELRS have gps telemetry?

    • @RCVideoReviews

    telemetry lost - telemetry lost-telemetry lost-telemetry lost-telemetry lost cant take it anymore, Only way out is model setting, telemetry and delete the ones I don't care about . Then then when I reboot for new fly the list is full and again and repeat the delete. anyway around this Sir .

    • @RCVideoReviews

      Do you have discover new sensors turned on? That's the only way a deleted sensor can come back. Also, did you set your telemetry rate to standard ELRS settings?

      @@RCVideoReviews Oh dear Is that what it may be ? my bad ! yes keep it on, thought if off all goes dead ?( I sat on my tailgate last evening staring at tellm screen, was full loaded but watched tellm like, pitch, roll, FM and such blinking on and off red text lines and women in radio yelling at me lost-telemetry lost-telemetry lost . So what do I do? click explore telemetry , then delete from list what I don't want and then turn discovery off , and that sticks on reboots , when I load another brick on vehicle ? "did you set your telemetry rate to standard ELRS settings? " I have 1.28 set in ratio ? Whats crushing is the critical telemetry I wanted is LQ levels never shows, oh it shows but never a value . But I have a F405 mk2 FC and people say telemetry feeds are sketchy . I'm sorry ! I only flew PPM drivers for a small time so this new technology has still got me on my toes but I lover learning and keeps young, I am old.

      Yup, don't leave discover sensors on. It will simply replace what you delete. Also, make sure the Tx and Rx aren't too close together. That will cause swamping and other issues. Good luck.
